Emote “controversy”
You know people are getting desperate when they decide to go off on Bungie about an emote. You know, the one that lets you hold the axe for three seconds? Like come on, I get it, it looks cool; it’s still not a big deal at all. I’d be happy just like everyone else if they add it into Saladin’s progression rewards, but I could care less if they didn’t. It doesn’t affect me, it doesn’t affect the game.
I’ve seen a few comments about this event having the potential to lead to worse things down the line, but Bungie has already stated that they have seen the feedback. Even if this were to happen again Bungie wouldn’t dare make something like this that actually affects gameplay, to think they would do something like that after people blow eververse out of proportion is preposterous. Let me know your thoughts, I’ll try to reply!
Edit: There have been great comments for both sides of this debate, I thank you all for taking the time to comment your opinions!

This item could of been a reward for killing a high end boss, or grinding crucible. It could of been something people 'play' towards. It could of been an extra reason for people to 'play'. Before you say, 'It's only an emote', that is not the point. It, exactly like weapons and armor, is a potential reward in a video game. Some people like to have strong weapons and armor, and some people like to look cool in a video game. Edit: It seems people are getting confused with affecting the game play, and affecting the game. The OP states affecting the game, which means the game, not the game play.

I just hate how we can’t earn items in games anymore, we have to buy them instead. I don’t care if it’s a skin, if it’s in the game it negatively affects my experience

7 RisposteIt is absolutely NOT a big deal. Fortnite has pay for everything cosmetic and is super popular and no one cares. If someone wants to pay for cool emotes more power to them (I didn’t, and won’t). The fear of the slippery slope is silly. If they went to pay to win areas like weapons the game would reduce to far fewer players and they know it. It isn’t going to happen so people should just chill and find real issues to submit so Bungie spends time on something useful and not this incessant nonsense.

1 RispondiNo controversy for me. I bought mine and didn't lose a wink of sleep over it. I'm rather enjoying all the tears and temper tantrums going on here. I wouldn't be a bit surprised if Bungie did this on purpose to get everyone's attention off of the REAL issues like broken Heroic Strike counter and broken Clan XP reward. I haven't seen a single gripe about that today... nope all been Emote this and Emote that. Well played Bungie!

Life is full of things that you have to pay extra for. Sometimes everyone pays for it, sometimes only those who want it or use it pay for it. Roads could either be paid for by everyone's tax dollars or by making it a toll lane and only charge those who want to use it. Burger prices could be raised for everyone so that one person can have his avocado for free. Car prices could be raised for everyone so those in North Dakota who don't need A/C can subsidize that cost for all those in Texas that want it. I don't give a crap about cosmetic items and I certainly don't want to pay for others ability to get them for free. So long live Eververse.

19 RisposteI'm of the position were I get it. I agree this one should be an in game reward, because it's tied to the Iron Banner specifically. But, I agree people are making an ocean out of a drop of rain here. The community has been asking to be able to directly purchase items from everse, and the $60 game cost has been proven to be under priced for games at this level. Bungie has to pay employee to make the damn game. Christ. How many emotes are in the game that came with the base game, on top of free updates to the game over the past few months, and this emote is making people lose their shit. I could care less. I'm loving warmind.

It's far from a controversy in my opinion; but I will say this. Activision is really ruining Bungie with this whole attitude of adding microtransactions to a buy-to-play game. I predict that the trend will continue to drive off players; Those who do buy it, I think, are more likely to get bored of the game and stop playing, especially if they are shamed by existing players who are pissed at the monetization trend. People will get tired of seeing Eververse wares every-time they level, especially if the "exclusives" deal keeps up. And a large amount of players will just refuse to buy it. As the population shrinks, Bungie will have to monetize more and more to keep their studio in the green, and this snowball effect could eventually lead to Activision deciding to scrap their involvement with Bungie. Bungie may be a bit clueless when it comes to endgame, but I think Activision was the one that insisted MTX's be added to the game. Activision posted record profits from MTX last year, and one of the biggest contributors was Destiny 2.

its all bullshit. people who want stuff for free. same attitude that almost killed the music, home video, and games industries back when there were few consoles, and lots of cheap home personal computers using cassette tapes which people pirated. the so-called victimless crime that did actually close a few games publishers back in the late 80s early 90s. personally, the game has serious issues now since warmind. the clan engram bug should be a top priority. fuss over an optional remote that doesnt do anything in game but amuse people while waiting for an event to begin? grow up and get a life people. lets get BUGS that are breaking pve progression fixed then worry about lootboxes. belgian govt has already banned them. the industry right now is putting on hold plans to put them in games until they see if this is a few places they can just not release games in and maybe ip ban players from conncting; or a general movement that need them to remove the lootbox/eververse engram purchase mechanism and replace it. with an out of game shop, or direct purchase, or a subscription and direct purchase model to make up the shortfall in revenue projections, who knows. but its certain that if they dont make enough money they go bust and the talent goes to someone like EA or a publisher or company that is doing the same things to make the money. or of course you could just all let them go bust and play offline games until ms decides to upgrade windows so they dont play anymore, or you cant fix or replace the console when it dies because they dont make them because nobody makes games since they cant make money doing it. oh wait. you'll still have candy crush and all its reskins on free app with inapp purchases on your phone. bon appetit.

My biggest issue is that this is a loot based game and a lot of it is behind Tess. I know you can obtain the items with the bright engrams by playing, but wouldn't it be better if that stuff dropped from strikes, raids and crucible....world drops!! Tess is the one ruining this game.
