Welp, looks like the critics don't like The Dark Tower so far.
I've been wanting to see it since I first saw the trailer, but as of now it has a Metascore of 39 (only 7 reviews so far, but still) and an 18% on Rotten Tomatoes. Users on IMDb have given it a 7.6, which isn't bad, but there are only 300 or so ratings so far. I don't see many movies, and having been looking forward to this one for so long, this sucks.
What are your thoughts Offtopic? Should I just ignore the reviews and go see it anyway? After all, I don't know anything about the story, I was just intrigued by the trailer and thought it looked cool. And McConaughey's in it, which is usually a good thing.
Edit: I'm going to see it tonight.

if you haven't read the books that it is based off of see the movie you will probably enjoy it. If you have read the books don't go you will likely be disappointed I know I was

Seen it Saturday. Felt like it was to short and put to much into such a short time. The kids acting was horrible and Matthew mcconaughey wasnt that great either. Never read the book so can't tell how it followed.

And apparently Stephen King approved of Elba for a long time and said the color of the gunslinger doesn't matter. I think a lot of the people don't like or understand it's a continuation of the story and not an adaptation. And/or salty Roland isn't white and see it as some PC move. I really think what it came down to was they thought he was the best guy available for the series and like King said - his color doesn't matter. Or maybe they don't understand McConaughey isn't the main villain in the series. If you are a Stephen King fan there's a lot of references tying a lot of his work to it or little nods like a kid playing with a toy car like Christine. If not I still thought it was good.

Sometimes they align with my opinion but a lot of times i wonder what they're smoking or how much they got paid to give it such great reviews. I think the ratings for [i]Get Out[/i] were correct, great movie. However my wife and daughter dragged me to that God awful Sofia Coppola picture [i]The Beguiled[/i]. I wanted to see[i]Spiderman: Homecoming[/i] or [i]Baby Driver[/i] but I relented. Most boring piece of crap I've seen in my life. An hour into it our daughter says "it's been an hour and literally NOTHING has happened" they wanted to leave but I was mad at having to see this instead so we stayed. We ended up getting dirty looks as we kept laughing and chuckling but seriously - I have never been as bored in a movie in my life. And yet it's at almost 80% on both metacritic and rotten tomatoes. That said Akiva Goldsman is one of the screen writers on [i]The Dark Tower[/i] so it'll probably be pretty bad.

Form your own opinion. Go see it. People do not always have the same tastes in entertainment, and that is fine. That is what makes it an art form. For example, I love the movie Titan A.E., but my friend thought it was garbage. He loved The game Final Fantasy VIII, but I could not get into it. If this is something you have wanted to see, go see it. Screw everyone else's opinion, your opinion should be the only one that matters to you.

I had never heard of it before, but I saw the trailer when I saw Dunkirk and it actually looks pretty good.

31 RisposteIgnore the critics. Fun fact: The movie is actually reverse white washing. The main character in the books is white and unlike most stories where people bitch about white washing the race actually matters in the books. There is a great part of the story with race and they can't do it now because of the black actor. Not saying I dislike the actor or the decision I'm actually pretty hype for the movie. I love the actor they chose for the part. Just an interesting fact IMO
