Son kicked for being a kid
Let me start by saying this is not a rant or a crying session. I get off work today, ask my 3 boys how their day was. My 13 yr old tells me he put a group together and flew a fire team into his oryx checkpoint. One of the "mature"adults tells my son to hand over fire team lead, so my son being a gullible pre teen he happily surrenders the lead. He then gets kicked from the group for being a kid. I understand a lot of people prefer not to play with children ( myself included ,except of course my children). I get it. This person knew my son was a kid when he joined the party. To me, this is a bit below the belt. He's not upset, neither am I, we both just kinda laughed and shrugged it off.
Let me say my son has many oryx clears, he's better at the raid than many of the people I've played with (reaction time of a 13 yr old is crazy, makes me feel old watching him lol). I guess my point is, you don't want to play with kids, cool nothing wrong with that. Just don't be a prick and cheat your way to a checkpoint by stealing it from a kid, then kicking the kid. Myself and most guys I've ran with end up kicking the 13 year Olds not because they don't know how to raid, but because they never shut the -blam!- up. Not saying this was why your son was kicked, but it's possible

This happens to adults too. In my opinion, it's not necessarily a result of your son "being a kid" as much as it's a function of the unfortunate reality that there are plenty of a-holes that are playing Destiny.

I play regularly with my 13 year old brother and occasionally his friends join. I just turn music on and let them be 13 year olds while I ignore them

Some people are assholes. I used to raid with a 12-year-old kid who was really mature for his age and never whined about anything. Plenty of us will help out the younger crowd gladly.

Dude, if your kids is mature, and doesn't whine constantly, like so many of these other kids. I'd have no problem raiding with him, I only ask for maturity, and that can come from any age

I don't mind playing with children. Sometimes their voices grind against my ears, but as long as you can listen and are fun we'll have no issues. Glad you and your son laughed it off even if he got the cold shoulder by some jerk.

I helped carry an 11 year old through hard Oryx last week and they were inexperienced and under leveled as hell but still survived through it.

That's a shame :/ You shouldn't automatically judge players based on their voice or age, heck when I was only 15 I was hitting master division in Black Ops II league play. If you ever need anybody to do the raid with, feel free to add me :) (Hunter, light 335, all sub-classes maxed)

I'm a 14/15 year old individual and I've never been kicked for being a kid. Maybe it's because I don't have a squeaky voice, but I genuinely feel bad about your son. If he's skilled enough or acts matured enough it is almost guaranteed that it won't happen again.

I've played with kids the same age as your son. Often they're the best on the team.

That reminds me when I was getting a guy to do trials with me and a friend. He joined and we explained that even though I was a lower level I was pretty good in pvp he went along with it until he yelled at us, "Well, I'm not playing with you guys cause you're kids and noobs!" And proceeded to leave. We ended up getting someone even better than him anyways so it was funny. My friend checked on him and he had only gotten 2 wins 😆

I've ran into multiple knuckle heads who are well over being considered "an adult" and I've ran into multiple very chill kids who surprisingly I like. I understand that people prefer not to play with kids, or even teens (even though this game IS rated T) but, you really have to consider a person. I play with everyone. Any age, race, sex, whatever it is I will play with. The simple rule of thumb is if you act like an asshole, I will kick you. It's that simple [spoiler]hey man, if you and your son wants to do the raid sometimes and you're on ps4, Hmu. I'm down to help you guys out :) [/spoiler]

I know exactly how you feel. I had one guy send nasty messages to my daughter after a strike (a -blam!-ing "strike" for crying out loud!). And she is actually really good. It made me so freak'n mad if it had been like the old days in the downtown arcade I would have .... (Well as a father you know what would have happened). Sad that we had to use it as a learning experience about how their are people out there that will attack you because they themselves are "unhappy" and that often times it has little to do with you yourself.
