Dear Bungie,
I've written a similar post in the Feedback board, but I thought that I would post here as well. I've been playing a lot of Rumble lately and have some more anecdotal evidence to provide.
I would like you to consider making Top 3 count for Rumble Grimoire completion. To me, Rumble is the hardest game mode. Not only are you alone, but the luck of the spawn is against you. The most irksome part is that playing all of this Rumble to complete my Grimoire is not teaching me to be a better player. It's teaching me to rush around frantically looking for quick, easy kills or more Special Ammo. At the end of the day, a series of lucky spawns will win the game, easy.
Unfortunately, I don't get lucky that often. The most matches I've won in a row is two, which left me speechless. The coinciding of all of those variables to equal me winning twice in a row is mind blowing. How could I have gotten so lucky twice in a row? Yes, gun skill is a factor, but more often than not lucky spawns carry people to the top.
It won't matter if I use the environment to cleverly juke an opponent out, only to turn the tables on him and barely win our fight when Johnny McShotgunRusher has Blink-Shotgunned his way through five different opponents.
It won't matter when I defeat someone competing for Heavy Ammo by the skin of my teeth when the other person who pulled Heavy Ammo guns me down. Then, in their mad dash to rack up kills, they see that I spawn in essentially the same spot I died in and gleefully slay me again.
Anyone who has played Rumble for more than a few games knows exactly what I'm talking about. It's frustrating. It isn't easy to achieve victory. It shouldn't be easy, but it would be nice if it was easier to advance your Grimoire completion of it. Getting in the Top 3 is a respectable feat, all things considered. I feel like if Top 3 is (now) good enough for the Rumble completion of the Crucible quest line, then it should suffice for Grimoire as well.
I sincerely hope that you have a chance to read this and kindly consider it. Thanks in advance.

UPDATE 7-18-16
I just earned my 100th win. The last match was a fitting challenge, it was very close. I stuck the other contender (who was using invis) at 2400-something points and avoided his shotgun blast. My grenade went off giving me the win and my evasion jump took me straight off the map at Thieve's Den.
To all that have said I should earn my 100: I did. It was glorious. I didn't quit a single match. Even when I was put into games 10 kills down.
To all that offered advice:
Thank you. It helped me get here. Special thanks to the wise Guardian that suggested Sunsinger, two fusion grenades, Y1 shotgun, and Voidfang Vestments. I acquired a fair amount of skill with sticking people. I feel sorry for those that I annoyed with them. Quite a few opposing Guardians would switch to their sticky grenade in response.
I did end up learning a lot. When to press a Super and put them down with a shotgun-melee. When to disengage, run, turn and punish my eager pursuer with a shotgun in the face. When to tactically crouch in a gun fight where I know my opponent is hitting all head shots. I learned that The Last Word will put down a shotgun rush with ease.
I'm glad I went through this. For those still seeking 100 wins, reference some of the advice here. Lots of subclasses and builds are viable. I saw people win from each subclass multiple times. There are many variables to juggle in Rumble and you only have control of a small number of them. Keep fighting, don't rage, don't quit. You'll get there.

Rumble is by far my most favorite game mode. It teaches you how to win 1v1 battles And constantly paying attention of people closing in on you. Love it. But I do agree that it should be top 3 for the grimoire score because all other modes have a 50/50 chance to win the game. In rumble the odds are much tougher.

1 RispondiIf i had 100 runble wins i would be so pissed if that happened. So they cant do that because it would be so unfair to the people who climbed the mountaintop.
-
How about top 1?
-
I grinded rumble in about a week or so. It's not that hard, but you do have a point about luck, as in how it affects your matchmaking though.

2 Risposte
Made You Look
Bump to the top I'd take top 2.

1 RispondiStep 1. Build Time Machine, go back to HoW era Step 2. Make A Bladedancer Hunter Step 3. Equip Last Word, Matador 64/Felwinter's, Proximity Detonation Rocket Step 4. Enter in a match and automatically win Repeat step 4 until max rumble grimoire.
-
1 RispondiI see your point OP. I agree with the issues you present, but don't want to get the grimoire for getting 3rd place. What I don't understand is the scoring system - people with 1 more kill, but way more deaths than me somehow eke out first place? Deaths should subtract from your score imo. It seems the first guy to trade his way to 24 kills is awarded the win. :/

11 RisposteI like to think I'm a good rumble player, before the April update I was in the top 500 players. If your problem is winning here's some tips Last word is the most reliable if you're not using a shotty because in scenarios against multiple opponents, a quick 2 tap then melee is your best friend Learn the spawns, just play a lot and muscle memory activates for you Close range weapons are your best bet, considering all the action that happens, although it is possible to not use shotguns, I mainly run twl and praedyths revenge while playing rumble Your spawn doesn't matter as long as you understand how to use your movement to your full potential, i suggest going on YouTube and searching either Titan skating Warlock skating Or just use bones of eao with better jump Use a roaming super, it maximizes your potential kills Learn the special spawns Learn from your deaths, you will die a lot but as long as you spectate players quickly while you wait to respawn, you instantly have knowledge on players locations before you even spawn Always, always, always check your radar Play with friends in classic rumble, even if you're losing it makes for great fun and is mainly the only way I play rumble nowadays I'm not sure what else i can say for advice but I hope this helped you with your grimoure

1 RispondiNot everything should be handed out. Some things you have to work for.
-
1 RispondiSounds like entitlement. How about you just win the gamemode? Muted.
-
2 RisposteNot unless you also get and astrix by your grim score to indicate that you got max after the rumble wins were removed. Everyone at max so far managed to grind their ass off to get it. So can everyone else.
-
2 RisposteDon't wish it was easier wish you were better. Don't wish for less problems wish for more skills. Don't wish for less challenge wish for more wisdom
-
Bump. I have the grimoire for rumble. And oh my god was it the biggest migraine I have ever had. I'm going to edit a clip in just to show what bullshit I've experienced.
-
2 Risposte
yes, gun skill is a factor
Why are you posting this again?
-
5 RisposteI grinded my ass off for those 100 wins Ya gotta earn it like the rest of us did
-
Participation trophies lmao Welcome to 2016
-
Luck of the spawn and finding people. Also catching guardians during cross fights and maximizing easy kills. I always flock to the high traffic area.
-
2 RisposteI support this hoping ppl stop boosting for wins in classic rumble
-
5 RisposteRumble is my game mode. I almost exclusively play rumble.
-
3 RisposteGit gud.
-
4 RisposteKeep on playing smart and the wins will come. This is the reason why I respect players with max Grimoire, it means something. They've thoroughly experienced all aspects of the game. ~TheGreatNike
-
Nah that's too easy
-
No! I cannot tell you how many first and second places I've gotten, but imo that grimoire should be something earned.
-
3 RisposteI do agree with you, as it is really tough... however I believe that it should not be changed. Rumble grimoire is that golden apple
-
3 RisposteI didn't read any of that, bungie would never do that because many (like myself) wouldnt be happy because we earned it by coming in 1st 100 times
