UPDATE: For those of you who think that this is a hate thread, it's not. I really care about this game, and I know some of my comments seem like overkill. Either way, I really want this expansion to be good as I'm a big fan of Destiny and Bungie. So please don't call me a whiner or a when I'm just being honest about how I feel about a game that I have played countless hours on and payed a lot of money on. Thanks.
Okay, honestly I didn't have big expectations for Rise of Iron, but I'm still not impressed. It just looks like more of the same to me. A new raid. A new enemy. A new world. Not really. It's just a reskin of stuff we've already seen.
Can they really get away with selling Gjallarhorn, a weapon we already paid for but with a "new" skin? Apparently. And I'm sure many people have already pre-ordered it just because of an "iron skinned" noob tube on steroids. You know who you are.
And the new enemies? Seriously? It's just the Fallen, reskinned! At first, I thought they were talking about a new enemy called the Plague that would be like the Flood from Halo, which would be F'ing amazing. Nope. As soon as I heard "And they are coming in the form of fallen," I knew that Bungie had lost their creativity.
Most people will probably buy it because of the raid. In all seriousness, it's just an extremely hard sponge battle with annoying people that you have to find on the internet. At first, the raids were fun. But now they are just a pointless grind to get to the max level. Does that actually sound like fun?
The idea for the story actually doesn't look that bad. Although it looks like it could be good, I already know what to expect. Forgettable characters, boring story missions, and lame boss fights. How did Bungie go from the amazing level design and storytelling of Halo to the crap they've given us so far? Seriously!
I really wanted this to be cool, but I already know what to expect from the previous expansions. Sure, it'll be cool for a little bit if I decide to buy it. But how much content will there be to keep me playing until Destiny 2? Not enough.
This might seem like a rant, but it's just a longtime Bungie fan being honest. I've been a fan of Bungie since Halo 3, and I'm sure a few of you go back even farther. However, I know that Bungie can do better than this, or at least used to.
Destiny could've and should've been the game we were hoping it would be, but it wasn't. It's not a bad game, I've actually made some of my best gaming memories in Destiny. But that's still no excuse to keep rehashing, remixing, and reskinning the same content (like F'ing Gjallarhorn for crying out loud).
Okay, I get it. It's just an expansion to hold us over until Destiny 2. But just think about this for a second: If Bungie won't listen to their fans now, how do we know that they've been listening to us while making Destiny 2?
Do you know what we want Bungie? We want a REAL story, with REAL characters. We want a REAL open world that we can explore. We want a FUN PvP that's enjoyable to come back to (like Halo, anyone?). We want to have F'ing matchmaking for raids and trials. We want FUN game modes that don't come for three weeks and never come back (SRL anyone?). We want unique weapons that we can craft and customize. We want armor, gear, and weapons that actually look cool and not like retarded dinosaurs. We want to play the game because it's FUN and not to get to the maximum level or get the best gear. We want the game we were expecting, but we never got.
The Rise of Iron doesn't promise any of this. If anything, it promises the opposite. I really want it to be fun, but it's so hard for me to get past the fact that Bungie hasn't given us anything we actually want (at least the true Bungie fans). Some people may want to pay $30 for a gun we already have (Gjallarhorn) and half-baked content that will get boring after a week.
If Bungie doesn't get their $H!T together, it's a sinking ship, and I'm gonna hop off. You know what we want Bungie. Don't let us down any more than you already have. Please.
Thank you from a true Bungie fan.

4 RisposteMost of it tldr, but purely from a lore standpoint it would be hard to just throw in a new enemy type. Hence the reason all the taken are just different forms of enemies that we've already fought. Taken are not really reskins. They operate differently that there non taken counter parts, as I would assume the fallen "plauge" guys. No hate on not getting your hopes up though. It's better to expect a little and get alot that the other way around. You may get suprised man.

1 RispondiCant argue with you opinion. I would just suggest you wait to judge until theres more details revealed. They're not going to rework the whole game. Its an expansion, not a sequal. So far I can say I like the fact that they are going to finally explain some of the lore as far as lord saladin and the iron lords. The vanilla story campaign was very disappointing to say the least

Invalid opinion

I'm pumped. The new enemies are not just reskins. You can catch just a small glimpse of them in the footage that's already been released, and they're pretty clearly unique.
-
Don't buy it then. Why buy something that hasnt sold you yet.
-
We haven't heard nothing😂
-
1 RispondiHow EXACTLY is it not supposed to be more of the same? lol. It brings new content in every form that Destiny has to offer.
-
2 RispostePeople ask for new content, more weapons, ghorn back, another raid, a new social area, and new non reskined enemies..... Bungie delivers and all people like you do is bitch and complain. It's sad really.
-
2 Risposte
I really want it to be fun, but it's so hard for me to get past the fact that Bungie hasn't given us anything we actually want (at least the true Bungie fans).
I played Marathon, I'm a true Bungie fan and it looks like they're giving me more of what I want.
-
It is a little lite content wise, although what we have seen so far looks awesome... But surely we need 6-10 new strikes, a new patrol area on each of the 4 original locations and a totally new enemy in Y3.

1 RispondiGo Develop your own Video Game.

1 RispondiThe Fallen are not reskinned. The Taken are Reskinned. The Splicers are modified and totally different. Pretty much The Vex has Sex with the Fallen and its goo got into everything.
-
I respect your opinion but I am really looking forward to it. I don't know if I'm just starving for new content but everything about it just looks badass. I'm still trying to keep my expectations low because ya know... Bungie. Although one strike seems a bit now.
-
1 RispondiI'm going through the boring phase with destiny. I think everyone does the grind, the strikes, the raids it's all repetitive. But I'm playing elder scrolls or I team up with 2 people and glitch hunt destiny. Sometimes it's better to have a break.
-
3 RisposteYou haven't even played, low lights and crappy grimoire.

2 RisposteThey're just selling the skin not the weapon, even that doesn't cost extra
-
There's nothing really interesting about it honestly, I don't blame you.
-
2 Risposte
true Bungie fan

I care about this game
Yet you proceed to say you disliked most of the previous content.

1 RispondiStop jumping to conclusions. I agree they were lazy and reskinned the fallen but stop saying the raid is just boring and a chore, the April update made raids more fun and other ways to get max light
-
2 RisposteMust be a Sanders supporter

All I know is those poor dregs dude.... how the hell can you walk with peg legs? They provide very little surface area to balance and I didn't see any orthopedic cushions at the top for their legs. Walking like that is enough to impress me but being able to jump and shoot with peg legs equipped is really impressive.

4 RisposteThe new "fallen" remind me of the bloody puppet enemies from Devil May Cry with their peg legs. I'm with you on the re-skin. CoE was focused on Fallen re-skinned weapons and the new DLC is focused around fallen as well. Are we going to get a 3rd re-skin of fallen weapons? What about Cabal themed items? I feel like this was supposed to be the raid we were going to get before they turned it into the Prison of Elders. So far 1 activity against Vex, 1 against hive, 1 against Taken and 3 against Fallen and no Cabal raids. I bet they going to make you "rediscover" the Gjallarhorn too like they did with the PoE exotics even though we have the blueprints from yr 1
-
How can you be impressed with the very few details shown on the reveal? I don't blame them though. I think they've learned their lessons and will be careful with respect to expectation managent thia time around.

1 RispondiThis is Destiny, what did you think was going to happen?
