Not impressed with Rise of Iron

UPDATE: For those of you who think that this is a hate thread, it's not. I really care about this game, and I know some of my comments seem like overkill. Either way, I really want this expansion to be good as I'm a big fan of Destiny and Bungie. So please don't call me a whiner or a when I'm just being honest about how I feel about a game that I have played countless hours on and payed a lot of money on. Thanks. Okay, honestly I didn't have big expectations for Rise of Iron, but I'm still not impressed. It just looks like more of the same to me. A new raid. A new enemy. A new world. Not really. It's just a reskin of stuff we've already seen. Can they really get away with selling Gjallarhorn, a weapon we already paid for but with a "new" skin? Apparently. And I'm sure many people have already pre-ordered it just because of an "iron skinned" noob tube on steroids. You know who you are. And the new enemies? Seriously? It's just the Fallen, reskinned! At first, I thought they were talking about a new enemy called the Plague that would be like the Flood from Halo, which would be F'ing amazing. Nope. As soon as I heard "And they are coming in the form of fallen," I knew that Bungie had lost their creativity. Most people will probably buy it because of the raid. In all seriousness, it's just an extremely hard sponge battle with annoying people that you have to find on the internet. At first, the raids were fun. But now they are just a pointless grind to get to the max level. Does that actually sound like fun? The idea for the story actually doesn't look that bad. Although it looks like it could be good, I already know what to expect. Forgettable characters, boring story missions, and lame boss fights. How did Bungie go from the amazing level design and storytelling of Halo to the crap they've given us so far? Seriously! I really wanted this to be cool, but I already know what to expect from the previous expansions. Sure, it'll be cool for a little bit if I decide to buy it. But how much content will there be to keep me playing until Destiny 2? Not enough. This might seem like a rant, but it's just a longtime Bungie fan being honest. I've been a fan of Bungie since Halo 3, and I'm sure a few of you go back even farther. However, I know that Bungie can do better than this, or at least used to. Destiny could've and should've been the game we were hoping it would be, but it wasn't. It's not a bad game, I've actually made some of my best gaming memories in Destiny. But that's still no excuse to keep rehashing, remixing, and reskinning the same content (like F'ing Gjallarhorn for crying out loud). Okay, I get it. It's just an expansion to hold us over until Destiny 2. But just think about this for a second: If Bungie won't listen to their fans now, how do we know that they've been listening to us while making Destiny 2? Do you know what we want Bungie? We want a REAL story, with REAL characters. We want a REAL open world that we can explore. We want a FUN PvP that's enjoyable to come back to (like Halo, anyone?). We want to have F'ing matchmaking for raids and trials. We want FUN game modes that don't come for three weeks and never come back (SRL anyone?). We want unique weapons that we can craft and customize. We want armor, gear, and weapons that actually look cool and not like retarded dinosaurs. We want to play the game because it's FUN and not to get to the maximum level or get the best gear. We want the game we were expecting, but we never got. The Rise of Iron doesn't promise any of this. If anything, it promises the opposite. I really want it to be fun, but it's so hard for me to get past the fact that Bungie hasn't given us anything we actually want (at least the true Bungie fans). Some people may want to pay $30 for a gun we already have (Gjallarhorn) and half-baked content that will get boring after a week. If Bungie doesn't get their $H!T together, it's a sinking ship, and I'm gonna hop off. You know what we want Bungie. Don't let us down any more than you already have. Please. Thank you from a true Bungie fan. MemoryManX
