1 RispondiYou know he/she gave up when this post says
Unimportant
and moved to the
Recruitment
forums. Nice try, kid.

17 RisposteModificato da The Cellar Door: 6/4/2016 7:26:16 PMYou know what, Muhammad Ali was a shitty boxer. He dodged the draft, and he was a bigger narcissistic asshole than any celebrity alive today. How could anyone be a fan of him? How could you even consider him talented? You must be idiotic and have no taste in entertainment if you do think he is talented. He made so much money, he's a sell-out. That's the only reason he won so many titles, because he's a sell-out.
-
2 RisposteStupid opinion, kid. Sorry. Hate to break it to ya.
-
1 RispondiI can't tell if OP is a b8er, but I really fuсking hate how he responds to some comments like a smartass.
-
He was many things. His humanitarian contributions add to his legacy. He was a great man.
-
So what if he doesnt want to risk his life and career fighting a failed war that he didnt even chose to take part in.
-
Literally who cares? Id try to avoid fighting in a war I'd most likely die in as well. Not to mention how much of a wasteful and meaningless conflict it was
-
You gave me absolutely nothing to think about. Partly because I already knew it but mainly because it had nothing to do with him as a boxer.
-
Why would that change anyones opinion? I'm British, that means nothing to me, still one of the greatest boxers. Did you read the reasons he dodged the draft? Obviously not, it made sense.

1 RispondiHere's what he said before he got arrested. “Why should they ask me to put on a uniform and go ten thousand miles from home and drop bombs and bullets on brown people in Vietnam while so-called Negro people in Louisville are treated like dogs and denied simple human rights? No, I am not going ten thousand miles from home to help murder and burn another poor nation simply to continue the domination of white slave masters of the darker people the world over. This is the day when such evils must come to an end. I have been warned that to take such a stand would put my prestige in jeopardy and could cause me to lose millions of dollars which should accrue to me as the champion. But I have said it once and I will say it again. The real enemy of my people is right here. I will not disgrace my religion, my people or myself by becoming a tool to enslave those who are fighting for their own justice, freedom and equality… If I thought the war was going to bring freedom and equality to 22 million of my people they wouldn’t have to draft me, I’d join tomorrow. But I either have to obey the laws of the land or the laws of Allah. I have nothing to lose by standing up for my beliefs. So I’ll go to jail. We’ve been in jail for four hundred years.” - See more at: http://alphahistory.com/vietnamwar/muhammad-ali-refuses-to-fight-1967/#sthash.2JBCFzrW.dpuf

Judge R. Mansfield of United States District Court ruled that Ali’s rights were violated by barring him from fighting.

3 RisposteModificato da DTL: 6/4/2016 11:06:54 PMDecided to do a little reading on the subject out of boredom and came across an interesting list of people who also dodged the draft. Dick Cheney: Got 5 different deferments for various reasons including attending school, getting married, and having a kid. Jimi Hendrix: Claimed a parachute jump caused an injury that got him a deferment. Rush Limbaugh: Recieved a deferment for attending school until he dropped out. Then claimed a medical deferment for a cyst on his ass (No.. seriously). Grover Cleveland: Literally paid another man to take his place in the civil war draft. Ted Nugent: Showed up to the draft office smeared in his own urine and feces. Bruce Springsteen: Faked a mental disability to get an 4F psyche deferment. Mitt Romney: Fled to France until the draft was dropped. George W. Bush: Had strings pulled that allowed him to join an already full National Guard unit instead of serving the military. Which he later had more strings pulled that allowed him early release from the unit. Bill Clinton: Avoided the draft by using a loophole in the system that counted a college-level ROTC membership as active service.

4 RisposteVietnam was a farce of a war. Corrupt governments invading a country with no quarrel whatsoever with America. Why should Ali fight and more than likely die for a country that still called him a n*gger?
-
2 RisposteHe didn't want to fight for something he didn't believe in. That makes him stronger than most.
-
Have a couple mill towards your name versus the possibility of getting PTSD and a prosthetic limb. Yep, that wasn't a hard choice

Kekekekekekekekekek

Vietnam was stupid. Vietnam wasn't about protecting US citizens. Americans who fought in Vietnam to protect the US fought for no reason
-
1 RispondiNow isn't the time for debating if that was right or not. Now is time for letting his soul rest for a little
-
Wow, he's such a disgrace for not wanting to die for a war that was completely pointless!
-
Why does it matter that he was a consciences Objector?
-
Why would he die just to make 2 people rich?
-
1 RispondiWho cares? Not all of us are morons that believe in countries/borders/governments.
-
His ban was appealed and overturned. I'm not a fan of the verdict but it is what it is. As far as a boxer, his accomplishments are indisputable - great. Greatest of all time? I think not.
-
Yeah, that just makes me like him more.
-
Because he opposed the war. Simple as that.
