Bungie seems bothered that one of the largest adopted weapons ever in destiny is the 1000 Yard Stare, when it is largely their fault in the first place.
Two of the most popular game types in Destiny PVP involve resurrections (Trials and Skirmish), making snipers with the ability to kill off of a resurrection the most appealing. Currently in game there are only four snipers that can do so, being the 1000 Yard Stare, Eirene RR4, The Black Spindle, and Still Piercer. The 1K Stare is not only the most easily obtainable from this group, but its not class specific or an exotic (The last two apply to the Eirene, but c'mon, most who have tried it have dismantled it shortly after). Based on those characteristics alone it would be a pretty safe assumption that it would be the most popular.
In the April Update, resurrection shields will now be affected by precision damage, opening up many other sniper archetypes to the res sniping arena. If there is a much larger pool of snipers that can accomplish the most sought after task, when players start to get their new snipers the popularity of the 1K stare will eventually drop.
I am very happy that more snipers will be usable and those god rolls on random snipers will be relevant now. My issue is that now the 1K stare will actually be behind most of the field, carrying even less ammo than the across the board reduction. I know some will say a few bullets is nothing, but that will likely result in at least one less round per special box opening. That adds up over a game and every round is valuable in a special economy that will be becoming even more scarce.
I'll admit I'm particularly annoyed because I've spent nearly every legendary mark I've earned and run countless heroics/nightfalls throughout TTK to get a decent 1000-yard stare only to have it fall behind the pack because it's too 'popular'. Nerfing a weapon because it is popular is another argument in itself, but I would only ask that it not receive an additional ammo reduction for that reason. Now that more can res snipe, just let it run its natural course as players set it aside for something they prefer instead of trying to force us into new options because you think we should use different weapons.
TL;DR: The 1000-Yard Stare was primed to be over used through the lack of alternatives and is having its ammo reduced on top of the initial decrease largely due to it being so popular.
EDIT: To clarify, I am referring to the additional ammo nerf for the 1000-Yard Stare ONLY on top of the ammo reduction across the board for snipers. I don't have a problem with the blanketed ammo reduction, just the focus on the 1000-Yard Stare.

Claims to respect time taken on rolls, crushes ammo on most sensible weapon. If I hated pvp before, now I need a restraining order.

4 RisposteLet's nerf the high impact sniper rifle 1000 yard stare's inventory But re release Longbow Ldr And release Her mercy If I remember correctly longbow has a 5 shot magazine? Plus why wouldn't I just pick up these high impact snipers with no decrease on inventory.

10 Risposte1000 yd stare most adopted weapon? Fatebringer? Gally? Matador? Party crasher? Thorn? Mida? That year 1 sniper I cant remember? Last word? hawkmoon? Blackhammer? The messenger? Suros? Felwinters sniper? And probably alot more I am leaving out have all been used more than that sniper.

1 RispondiIt cracks me up when everything thinks 1kys is OP.... It's an average sniper at best. It's popular because is so easily attainable (vendor has a really solid roll) and easy to get new rolls. But it's base stats are nothing special. For those of you that cry about its "high aim assist", its AA is only like 56/100. Yet despite its incredibly average base stats, it was singled out especially to get a nerf... More proof that Bungie isn't trying to "balance anything". They just nerf whatever becomes popular.

1 RispondiI watched the whole stream and I agree that it will not need any additional reduction sand nice it will easily be outplayed by a faster firing counterpart. But what about the random shotgun reduced cation they didn't say a word about? What a slap in the face. When did shotguns get overpowered again? This is the 4th nerf. Why? Fusions and sidearms don't don't have ammo reductions so what did shotguns do to deserve this? There was no conversation and no explanation.

Yeah Surprised by that one

Modificato da TrikMoneySchmity: 4/9/2016 1:57:56 AMit's all part of their plan 1000 yard stare was already designed before the game dropped

You forgot Efriedets Spear.....

2 RisposteShould have just nerfed the impact by 50%
-
I think that 1000yd has had enough glory

-
4 RisposteThey nerfed shotgun ammo also
-
Eirene is bae

1 RispondiThe funny thing is, they nerfed 1kYS solely because of its popularity which is only so popular because of the extremely limited choices for a sniper rifle that can res snipe, yet they made other lower impact snipers with more aim assist and fire rate now able to res snipe too. So essentially... the 1kYS nerf is completely unnecessary considering the main reason for its popularity will now be a thing of the past.

Couldn't agree more :)

1 RispondiThis wall of text.... it's... it's... impossible to surmount!.... needs... paragraphs!.... save yourself! *dies* #TitanMasterRace

Honestly the overall ammo reduction they are doing is stupid and only going to hurt pve.

I can't stop reading that as "needles", even with the second "S" being there as plain as day. I think maybe I've interneted too much today.

3 RisposteI fail to see the point. 1kys has the top number of bullets held, and for my play style i have a good roll (like many others) therefore even if i drop a longbow with the same roll, ill just keep using the 1k because i already have it, max lighf & fully levelled. So they drop the ammo on all snipers, to make one less popular, when the reality us that for most people to stop using it, it needs to be totally useless or others need to be better, so this just seems really pointless. Especially in pve. -blam!- you bungir for giving us the middle finger again.

6 RisposteCan the iron banner sniper red snipe now or no?
-
10 RisposteSo just less reserve ammo ? Not the magazine ? Doesn't seem like too big of a nerf for pvp.

2 RisposteJust drink some ^ and relax...

Time to grind out Crucible packages for the Longbow...
