Why do so many people think that black spindle is needed for a raid?
I see many people on lfg sites looking for people with black spindle. Why? Ye I know that the weapon has great impact, but it doesn't really matter. Every time we die after we've damaged a boss in the raid, e.g. Warpriest and golgoroth, I view the dps made by each person.
With a 1000 yard stare, I did more overall damage than all of my other friends with a black spindle.
I read a post about a guy who had a 320 black spindle, then switched it to a rare 280 weapon, yet still killed the warpriest in two tries. This proves that no matter what legendary or rare year two sniper you use, black spindle is not superior and NOT needed for a raid.

I was wrong and the Spindle is way better and worth taking your time to make sure you don't miss those shots, the DPS was evidence enough for me to never pull the 1kys out again at the Warpriest.

1 RispondiI agree that setting arbitrary requirements like having a Black Spindle is wrong. However, 1kys doesn't out dps a Spindle. If the guardians light lvl and weapons light lvl are the same and you're both hitting crit shots, then the Spindle wins. I'm sure there are plenty of anecdotes about a spindle being out-DPSed by 1kys but it was the guardian being outshot by another guardian. That being said, even though I have a 320 Black Spindle, I won't join a group that sets it as a requirement because it is not the gun that wins but the guardian using it.

Sleeper and raid sniper is the most dps on warpriest but nothing even comes close to BS on golgoroth. I have never had anyone even come close to my numbers unless they were using one as well. Reload takes too long in a 10 second damage window.

It's the leaders requirements. If you don't like it, don't join such a fireteam.

Your friends must have bad aim. In the right hands BS will do more dps than 1KYS every time. HANDS DOWN!

It's just because you don't have to reload black spindle. You could use hereafter instead and get even more shots off.

Spindle is very reliable and easy to use against warpriest, and not everyone is lucky enough to get a god roll 1kys. That being said, if everyone was actually trying to do the most damage on warpriest, we would see everyone running double titan bubble, weapons of light and blessing of light, good use of tethers, and everyone using Touch of Malice. Easiest way to get him in 1 round

4 RisposteIt's funny when they say you must have it... Then they pop weapons of light.... No black spindle users ever dip back into it thus allowing me and my 1000 ys to do more damage that anyone else.

Earlier in the week a group I was in had all spindles... We killed warpriest in one rotation, it was awesome. The key is to not miss crits. BS does more damage over time if u don't miss. But really u can use whatever u want.

I use ss and 1kys and to be honest is about 20 to 25 faster to kill raid bosses with that combo. Tried both ways by the way

Because it's a great gun? If everyone is using spindle and everyone is hitting their crits warpriest will die extremely fast. If you're doin more damage than spindle with a 1k stare then either your buddies didn't have full special, or they were missing crits. Sleeper is also good, I'll use it of I have heavy ammo synths but if I don't I use spindle. And ToM really only does a lot of damage with the last bullet and to use that you need a blessings of light titan(since there isn't an invincibility aura on warpriest) So in the long run sleeper and black spindle would be best.

Unless I have a mini black hammer like my eirenne along with aura speed reload gloves u should be using spindle if u really want to get it done fast. Granted I mix it up from time to time and use my eirenne sga thunderlord and sleeper but thats with everyone being experienced and chill. U only need to be 310 up until oryx so juss have fun. Then juss make sure ur 315+ IMO for hard mode oryx

Is it needed? Of course not. Is it the highest potential dps? Yes. If you're beating your teammates in damage while they're using it, they are failing to land all crits or they aren't shooting full pace. The only time it can be inferior is during a long damage cycle. A triple tap sniper can keep shooting after the spindle runs out of ammo. If you watch any real speedrun, everyone uses the spindle to kill warpriest in a single damage cycle and get golgoroth to the taken phase in a single orb.

People still ask for that gun? Why am I surprised, even when crota became stupid easy people still used gally as a requirement.

The weapon doesn't matter when you hit more shots than them. The spindle is the best dps gun in the game, that's a fact, but when your teammates miss a lot then of course you will out damage them

I agree not needed at all to do a raid. Sleeper and ToM do more dps on warpriest (been tested). Even with a team of 6 spindles you still require 2 runs. No difference. I'd say only on golgoroth will it do more overall dps. Than again thats just 1 less rotation. Not necessarily needed.

I agree with you a good stare with reload speed perks is just as good UNLESS your a sniping master who never misses a head shot. I'm not a good sniper and i can miss a couple times on war priest and with only a 3 round mag and slow reload I probably do more damage with a stare than my spindle. however like a lemming I pull it out on Warpriest all the time. However on Golgaroth the spindle rules just because the hit box is so big you can't miss.
