It's the answer to the shotty.
And I'm not talking about the players who cry about shotguns and die to shotguns because they have zero awareness. And do nonsensical things. And then wonder why they ALWAYS die to shotties.
I've been using the new sidearm from iron banner. And as soon as I see someone pushing me. A couple of back steps and a switch to the sidearm. And it completely rips up someone pushing with a shotty.
Of course,
1. I had to be aware - takes practice
2. I have to aim - takes practice
3. If I make a mistake, recognize what I did wrong and correct the mistake - not get on forums and cry about OP shotguns.
I've never been a shotgun player. So the sidearm is a complete answer to how I like to play.

You're partly right but shotguns are still something which don't mesh very well with everything else in the game. The solution is precision damage and normal damage. The range of shotguns is fine. But they are putting out too much damage at that range. Melee seems to be something Bungie wants to be meaningful, but shotgun really hurts the viability of melee in addition to auto rifles and hand cannons. The speed at which players can move plus the slide and the ready time of weapons is too quick compared to the ranges some weapons and melees are viable at. Which leads to shotguns being able to dominate more weapons from a larger real range than they probably should. I do not want to see a game where shotguns are made slow and have no range. That's not very fun sounding. I'd rather see them have insane handling but just do less damage overall such that at the ranges they can kill at now, they don't kill and require a melee follow up. This way players who like to be super aggressive and mobile still have that but hand cannons and auto rifles aren't overshadowed and the melee portion of the game becomes more important again. I use sidearms myself and love them for taking out shotgun rushers but against max range shotguns you need to hope the shotgunner is just stupid and runs straight at you from too far out to win. It's not that that is a problem exactly, it's that it isn't that interesting/fun. It's very 'all-in' which is ok here and there but seems very out of place considering every other option.

2 RisposteFusion rifles are the answer to shotguns.
-
everytime i try one i get mad after dying a million time in a row and switch back to shotgun/sniper i cant do it :(
-
Or TLW. Game full of shotties users they will hate you by the end.
-
I hate it that I have to choose between my new IB sidearm and my beloved Chaperone
-
1 RispondiTLW is still the anti-shotgun king
-
Havoc Pigeon FTW.
-
Man I love those thing I did a back flip on my hunter switch weapons mid flip and side armed a guy rushing at me.
-
3 RisposteI love my new IB side arm because it's wikd cool and fun but I hate it because I have to get rid of my sniper. I usually end up using my side arm now though. They are amazing. Wasn't a big fan of side arms before TTK but now they're great

Yes!! Honestly I just get bored of shotguns, fusion rifles I've always hated ( either you use them or hate them ) and sniping has never been my style. Sidearms have been my best friend now, I forget how to shotgun lol
-
The Vestian Dynasty was my special of choice in Year 1 after HOW, and it was my top performer, even as a special/secondary weapon. I just have not gotten used to the TTK sidearms yet, they seem to have much more recoil, even though the stats seem comparable. I picked up the IB sidearm, but have not had a chance to play with it much, but I don't have high hopes. I still use the Vestian Dynasty in regular crucible, as it fits my play style very well (mid-range).

Should be dual wielded. ADS on a Sidearm shouldn't be a thing, there should be two of them instead, hip firing to glory.
-
1 RispondiI expected better stats

Scout rifle tag then throwing knife to the head works awesome if you are on gunslinger. I'll have to try using sidearms. Dregs Promise made me swear them off for awhile.
-
Did you buy it or get it from a drop? I've been thinking about getting one but the perks don't look great. Ideally it'd have rangefinder and rifled barrell to max out the range.
-
Got around to picking up my Ironwreath yesterday and needless to say I'll be using this sidearm moving forward. They aren't OP, they sit right in between Fusion Rifles and Shotguns and if you are good at judging kill distance and manipulating other players actions this thing is epic. I picked up 10 kills in a match yesterday focus testing it via drawing players in and dropping them before they could get within shotgun range. I love it, will be my go to special moving forward.

3 RisposteShhh.....we want them to keep sprinting at us.
-
still sniping people's head off
-
Yeah me and my friend recently both got one and we went into rumble. We destroyed everybody
-
I agree. I have been destroying with Iron Wreathe. It also helps to shoot once with primary and quick swap to sidearm to kill em really fast
-
2 RisposteGood point. Won't help you against Chaperone however.
