I made this post simply to see if anyone shared my frustration with the recent Patch to Destiny's crucible. I am all for accurate damage drop off and trying to encourage people to use a variety of weapons, but I dont agree with being forced to use pulse rifles in order to stay in the Meta.
I've seen every phase crucie has been through and was here for the dreaded Thorn/TLW outbreak, but even then; people weren't so much complaining about the range and effectiveness of all Handcannons but just the afore-mentioned headaches.
I dont agree with handcannon accuracy being stomped on and also tickling the opponents i do manage to hit from mid range.
Even when using Hawkmoon max BS damage is 60 compared to the 64 damage it did. With HS doing 90 - 122 (157 with 2 stacked bullets) compared to the 94 -126 damage that used to give this gun its strength.
I can't tell you how many people seem to: A~phase through bullets not even talking latency or B~ giggle after I tickle them with my new water gun, Aka Survive with slivers of health.
Im so tired of getting the first shot on someone and dying because of weapon choice even when its in its intended range. PulseRifles seem to be more accurate and also have no damage drop off making Hand cannons useless and putting them in that same spot Scout rifles were in before 2.0.
I hope we can all agree to my main point: if Handcannons are to be so inaccurate, there should be much less damage drop off... or buff accuracy so that i dont feel blind and dumb shoting at an enemy charging straight at me, but still missing 3 of 6 shots fired even if they dont hurt him/her I atleast know im not going crazy...
Dont even get me started on Snipers in crucie... let me know how you all have been fairing. I welcome all conversation to the topic!
Edit# 1: Broke it up cause of reading complaints lol.
Edit# 2: Thanks to everyone for sharing their feedback and being civil (for the most part) with their contributions. I really do appreciate all of constructive contributions.
Edit# 3: found an amazingly rolled Eyasluna in crucie and its so much better than my Hawkmoon.
Check my Titan out if you wanna see its specs. It feels like a year one HC with the ranges its been hitting people from and the accuracy it has.
All my shots even from far ranges hit and with accurate Damage drop i cant snipe people but I've been decimating PR at that med to short range! I had shed a few tears when I realized how accurate the gun was...
I personally still hold true to my post, but I've atleast found 1 gun that isn't blind or rebellious. See you all in the crucie, Gaurdians! Gods-speed if we face off in our trainings! ;)

4 RisposteAgreed! I'm an avid TLW user myself and I don't understand why they would nerf accuracy. Nerfing range is completely understandable, but if my reticle is on an opponent's head, it SHOULD be a headshot. Try using high impact scouts, like Jade Rabbit. They cater to paced shots and high damage per bullet.

Hawkmoon got a few too many nerf hits. Was fine with the range and accuracy penalty but why the damage with it?
-
Fulcrum Luck in the chamber 6 round mag Final round Can two shot Will three shot Also, I have a 1969 with Rangefinder and Send it for long range maps. I got around the nerf with these two guns but for the most part I agree with you. It's almost like you have to use a pulse rifle, which is garbage.
-
I find my favorite handcannon is ace of spades, having third eye, firefly, perfect balance and maverick is very useful and it very fun to use in both pve and pvp
-
1 RispondiYeah, they need a slight range buff. Not enough for "sniping", but enough to pull off a mid distance shot.
-
1 RispondiBesides broken ass Hawkgay I would agree.

Modificato da sergeantsnipes05: 10/5/2015 8:33:38 PM2 hand cannons were a problem but they had to nerf them all. I'm fine with the range thing but they decreased their repeatability on a weapon class that relies on precision hits to kill quickly and is the least forgiving weapon class to use. They need to give the repeatability back. Honestly it was thorn that was the real problem and that gun is still a fantastic hand cannon because it has send it. They should have taken send it off of thorn and the problem would have gone away. Hawk moon is still very good in small team playlists but pulse rifles are just better in nearly every situation and are far more forgiving. Range drop off=good Shit accuracy on a precision oriented weapon class=bad

in pvp i start recently using the hawkmoon i got and my play awareness seems to be better. I had several matches last night and damn near went 2.0 k/d in all
-
I agree. Hand cannons feel very different now. I think what I am feeling is the greatly reduced accuracy. I have mostly abandoned hand cannons now. I used to dislike auto rifles, but I have had to change my playstyle. The new Monte Carlo is pretty nice.
-
2 RisposteI don't think HC were nerfed enough. I'm still getting taken out at long range with them.
-
Well, I see you have almost 50,000 pvp kills with your titan alone.... that's pretty good. All I know is that I need to relearn how to use handcannons effectively if I ever want that ace of spades gun.
-
The only thing about Hand cannons is the reduction to reserve capacity. It annoys me and automatically makes me choose Scouts or Pulse Rifles.
-
Pvp not so bad. They are garbage in pve now though.

Modificato da pokoki: 10/5/2015 9:56:42 PMSmite of Merain ftw
-
Scouts were never bad they just didn't have any maps other than 3 that came by once a month that supported them well
-
1 RispondiHawkmoon still wrecks
-
1 RispondiI find them fine, I have done well in PvP and PvE with legendary hand cannons, try stick from mid to close range.
-
I still see a lot o western dusters running all over crucible though.
-
I have several problems with the nerf: 1) the accuracy, it sucks to be aiming right at a critical spot and you completely miss, with the stability on hand cannons the way they are it doesn't give you a chance to refire until the aim has been readjusted. 2) I'm not a fan of the range drop-off but I accept it. 3) you might as well use a scout rifle since they are better in: range, rate of fire, stability, accuracy, reload, and almost equivalent for damage, the only thing scout rifles seem to be less good at is hip firing. With that said, I just got the rare drop HC from the echo chamber (Imago Loop) with decent rolls and it's not too bad... though I still prefer scout rifles.
-
Yea they accuracy is really bad now. Hawkmoon is the best remaining usable hand cannon for crucible and it is weak compared to pulse rifles. The accuracy is only good at mid close range and at that point you usally eat a shotgun before you can get a kill unless a lucky bullet procs. I even tried a weapons of light build using hawk moon and its just unreliable. Hang up the HC for now until they get a buff. Even in PVE there is not reason to use one over a scout rifle, pulse rifle, or auto rifle.
-
Plus the bullets have a random shot pattern. The bullets curve off or vanish into thin air it seems. Plus shotguns, despite the nerf, have much more dominance then before because the meta supports a longer range gun style. Because of this, we lack a sufficient primary, beside universal remote, for close range. Even Last Word has a harder time in close range against rushing shotgunners. (I am aware how to use the "new" Last Word. It's to bad that it's just hip firing. How dare you actually aim your weapon.

Hawkmoon is nerfed and Thorn needs to come back. I don't even care about the poison perk, just love that gun
-
6 RisposteExcluding hawkmoon, I do think the hand cannon nerf was too much. They could of done just the exotic nerf and it would of been fine. The last word is like a pea shooter now unless someone's hugging you. In those ranges I could just use a shot gun. Hell chaperone is the better choice. The ammo nerf was fine with me as it buffs some hand cannons with the final round perk and luck in the chamber. The accuracy nerf was fine as well because I can still land head shots and I can always grab some aim assist perks. The damage drop off was not fine for me. Ranges that I would consider mid range shows significant drop off that makes using the hc pointless. They should at least give us a distance meter on our reticle with how much they change damage drop off in each patch. I have to aim a head shot at such a distance with the accuracy nerf, and then when it hits it barely tickles them. It's the worst feeling to see all that yellow and they keep running. To make matters worse, most new hand cannons have also been extremely lack luster. When you finally find one with goof impact and looking like it may be the next timurs or red hand ix, you see only stats that bungie could think of. Terrible rof. Terrible stability. Terrible range like the nerf wasn't enough. Then an even worse reload speed. I don't even want to touch hand cannons like the bryonic hero. I always get it but not a roll to save it's life. I feel like the nerf was just to big and unwarranted. ARS seem more effective in hand cannon range and I hardly see anyone use hc anymore besides hawkmoon. That's not the variety I wanted to see. The ace of spades is the only other hc I seen so far that I didn't out right hate. I'm pushing for the first curse until I find a suitable legendary one.
-
I got a nice 310 Last Word and it was trash, it lost about 30% effectiveness for PVP.
-
They need to give them back some of their accuracy. There are times when I know the sights are on the persons head and I miss just outside shotgun range. And its stupid that my year 2 party crasher has more range than any handcannon I have had drop.
