Theory: Year two players will not get the exotic sword...
That step where you have to grind for hours for relic iron or whatever you need for your sword quest, I have a theory thats where they will give up. They dont remember the days back in year one before you could just buy all materials...you had to grind for them. Year one vets remember the grind for relic, helium, spinmetal and sprit bloom. I think they will give up because their not used to it, their used to being able to buy it. Just a thought I had during the grind.
Edit: Just a tip: Dont do a void sword on a hunter. The 500 kills you have to get with void abilities is insane. The bow kills only count if you kill them with the arrow and the grenades are ok'ish and melees are not void. Pretty much had to get 500 grenade kills... :/
Edit: Damn...all I did was have a thought while doing the grind and thought I would come here to express my theory. I didn't know you bastereds world run my phone battery dead, cause it vibrates every 2 seconds for a new notification...lol
Edit: And you think the horror ends there....o no. Next Wednesday, I think you have to do a light lvl 300 strike.

It's more the 25 guardian kills I'm not enjoying for my stafe in the quest. I don't like PVP as it is... but trying to rely on the swords hilt for kills when there's no heavy ammo is getting annoying... ah well 6 more to cut down.... EDIT: Nevermind... I did not know about the "new" special resources. FML... still gonna do it though.

4 RisposteI still remember my resource farm routes. Only one I couldn't really get a good farm route was Helium phillaments, probably spelt that wrong.

For void kills on a hunter using the blood bound perk and tethering enemies, throwing a grenades and killing one with the grenade will kill all of them. And it will count as void kills. Titans, good luck.

1 RispondiGet a ghost that marks the appropriate resource, keep running back and forth between areas, it's easy and doesn't take very long. Already got Bolt-Caster and know plenty of people who have gotten their exotic swords as well, so that theory fails.

Comment on the void on hunter(thats what i did) put the quiver perk on your super so u get 3 shots, buy the sealed ahamkara's grasps for an extra melee charge and use poison on smoke bombs. Thats the fastest way to do it but its still very slow. Also if u get a primary with grenadier perk it helps a ton.

9 RisposteGuys, I just finished the mats part, now just need the kills which will be easy. Next Wednesday I will have to do the Strike, right? Could someone explain to me what I have to do in the strike in order for me to finish the quest? I am doing it for Raze-Lighter.

1 RispondiTook me about an hour to farm materials for the void sword. Void kills with titan is a bitch, grenades and melee only.

Its actually easier to get nightstalker kills for void sword, you just have to time your shots, use blood bound, tethered kills explode and the very first grenade you get, then do the dark below mission (first one on the moon) as soon as the thrall show up shoot your bow which will tether, then throw your grenade, the grenade will kill enemies which go into the rest and each of them explode. Let the yellow knight kill you once you regen grenade and super. Each run was approx 30-45 seconds with 5-7% completed each run.

I actually found going back and doing that little amount of material farming to be nostalgic. Granted, I had an easy time, what with my Ghost being able to detect Spinmetal and enhanced radar. And it was on Earth; that place always takes me back to the beta days.😊 ... It's kinda bullsh*t when Taken show up and ruin your flow of farming, though lol. And I know I could've stayed in a non-Taken area to farm, but I got bored of the scenery haha.

Hope much of the planetary materials do you need. I have som many I usually crunch a stack of 200 every time I get more than 400. Btw I remember back in the day when you could trade in materials for marks. I was a material farming mofo. I would spend hours on the cosmodrome getting thousands (yes, thousands) of spinmetal to max out marks. Seemed fun to me.

stormcaller warlock took like 1 hr for ability kills. Grenade, melee, grenade, melee, 5 minute long super...thank goodness I chose an arc sword

I spent 2 hours on patrol on the moon for 73 helium filaments. Those were the days.

They have even added markers on the radar that show you where these things are if you are in a close proximity, and getting a ghost that points out locations would make it easier. I remember the days we had to farm them by sight.
