You're currently reading this post while the Earth hurls around the sun, hurling around the galactic core, hurling further into space. You're just chillin' like an absolute villain.
You may have even pondered about life on other planets before. Or life in other galaxy's. Well,
Just think
The chances of an intelligent multicellular organism thinking those exact same thoughts are quite decent, even more so in other galaxy's. Wondering if there's any other life out there in the black void. Many people on that planet(s) may believe it is highly unlikely that another civilization formed as they have. It just can't be. They may even be prone to believing that a God of some kind placed them in that system, and that system alone for divine purposes only they can understand and act towards.

You'll always have those people who don't believe in God, those who believe in God but don't follow religion, and those who follow religion and believe in God or gods. That's fine. Having extremely intricate and complex brain processes will do that to you. It's something we deal with for as the price of intelligence. I'd say that's a fair deal.
Let's say that in the far future, in the unlikely event that we as a species will survive that long, we eventually discover our first alien civilization while traversing our galaxy. What an important moment in history! Definitely one for the books. They seem to be more advanced than us humans and can offer technology to us in exchange for reasonable items, such as resources, maybe. The leaders of both civilizations at that time may even decide to merge the two species and live as one. What a day that would be! Living next door to an alien. Who woulda thunk?
Let's say religion still exists at the time. It's undoubtably been altered since present time, and many new religions may have been formed. The likelihood that a religion will still exist, or that a religion will be made which believes humans are the only intelligent life every made, have had their teachings shot down the drain. It's easy to assume that because of the tendency of humans to put themselves above others frequently. Many are arrogant enough to believe that the entire, beautiful universe that was made around us, stretching out so far, it will forever be physically and theoretically impossible for us to see all it has to offer, was designed and formed specifically for humans to discover more of it, but we were destined to be destroyed. Those religions have just completely collapsed in on themselves and riots are inevitable. I would even go as far as to say those radicals would try to start a war with the aliens. I mean, look where religion got us today (cough, cough). It's obvious that some people will simply not care and accept the aliens with open arms, bailing on their religion.
The same thing would happen on the aliens' side. The clash of religions would spark a great conflict that would threaten the existence of two intelligent species, and all because they failed to recognize the high possibility that our mere existence was a result of pure luck and coincidence. They feel like the gift of life comes with a catch. Well it doesn't. Not every transaction, gift or deal, requires a catch. Sure, the possibility that a God or higher entity created the Big Bang is highly possibly. This God doesn't even need to resemble humans, or appear as a person of some kind. God might not even be a "he" or "it." God could just as easily be the name given to the event or events that had to occur that would eventually bring about the creation of the universe, or multiple universes. From which one of the many universe-creation theories come in, such as the Big Bang Theory. God causes the initial Bang, and the universe was thrown into an endless cycle of Big Bang and Big Crunch. Many may say "Well, if there was nothing there that could've caused a spontaneous event leading to the creation of the universe, it had to have been a God-like entity who had a desire to do so."
Indeed, I'm not doubting that a God purposefully created the universe. In fact, I'm agnostic. How can completely empty space decide to think "You know what? It's getting kinds boring. I wanna make a quick universe, maybe throw a few civilizations around here and there." It was probably made by something who had the fullest intentions on there being intelligent life, no matter what shape or form. You cannot be as close-minded as to believe out of the ENTIRE universe around us. I mean, BILLIONS of galaxy's worth, and we still haven't seen it all. Both, outside of the observable universe and inside. Why would God create all of these things outside of our own galaxy for shits and giggles if we're supposed to be the only ones in the universe. The answer is he wouldn't. Because he didn't. Humans were simply one of the lucky life forms to have gained cognition to be able to ask those ridiculous questions. Lucky us! What we do with it is not up to God. He gave conditions for us to form, and gave us tools to use. Now he wants to see what we so with them.
And if we actually did meet that alien race in the far future, another product of the conditions God made available for life to flourish, I'm pretty sure it would be frowned upon if we argue and fight over religion (considering many religions focus of God creating us and us only for a specific and divine purpose). But some people are just too afraid to think for themselves, that they rely on our mystery creator, whatever it is, for guidance and counsel.
Based on probability, it is literally impossible for there to NOT be another civilization, like ourselves, out there. So just because we haven't found any others yet doesn't mean we're the only ones and that we deserve a special treatment.
