New to Destiny and Bungie!
Hello there! I'm completely new to Destiny and Bungie, I just got the guardian edition yesterday. I hit level 21 within a day and a half so I guess that's somewhat exciting... I have a few friends walking me through everything but I feel like I'm not playing right or learning right, what I'm trying to say is I could use other voices/opinions or whatever. I just need help because I feel like there's a lot of information I'm missing out on. I play on the PS4 and my psn is Ant101795 if you think you can help please respond or message me thank you!

Triumphs are sort of like achievements, they're accomplishments meant to represent all that there is to do in year one of destiny. If you do all the moments of triumph then you will get an emblem when taken king releases. Trials of osiris, or ToO, is a competitive pvp event that happens every week from Friday to Monday. It uses the elimination game mode (look that up yourself). Trials of Osiris gives some of the best loot in the game and the goal is to get 9 wins and 0 losses. Burns have 2 definitions. 1. A burn is a boost to a particular damage type. Example: solar burn, all solar damage is increased. This affects both guardians and your enemies. 2. Verb: to burn a boss is to lay as much damage into him as you can and as fast as you can in an attempt to kill him quickly.

2 RisposteTo your edit: Triumphs are a set of achievements you must complete before The Taken King launches in Order to earn a year one emblem. Burns are the elements in Destiny: solar (fire), arc (lightning), void (dark energy). In end-game activities, 1-3 burn damages will typically be heavily increased. ToO is Trials of Osiris. It is the end-game PVP activity in the House of Wolves DLC. It's a 3v3 round based elimination style match.

Regarding your edit. See this: https://www.bungie.net/en/Profile/Triumphs/2/4611686018451611903 That's your progression towards all the Triumphs. You have about 6 weeks to get them all so you get an emblem (like "Wow!") As for burns - watch for characters that have a colored cloud around them as shields - tinted orange, blue or pruple. That is "solar", "arc" or "void". If you have a special or heavy weapon that also has that kind of damage then it will remove their shields with 300% more efficiency (when you do those numbers that drop off them showing damage inflicted will be in the same colors to show it's being effective).

Some weapons have elemental power (arc, solar, or void), and burns are modifiers on certain missions which make these elemental powers more effective. For instance, arc burn increases the damage an arc weapon would put out. Certain enemies are more vulnerable/resistant to certain elemental types.

Complete the game with your first character then make another one, get one of each character. I recommend you do not wait till you are in the 30s to make a new character, you might be inclined not wanting to bother. Try all classes, try all sub classes and try to make it fun. Make lots of friends, get them to help you, even rush you through the campaign (it can get boring). Have a bash at PvP, do PvE, try the daily events and the PvP event. And, most importantly, do not play the game to death. I think friends are important in a game like this, it makes the game easier to play and time will fly, with it so will your level. Plus it is fun. All the questions you want answering will happen in game... Enjoy :D

2 RisposteGrind marks and buy some purple weapons and armor. I see ( http://destinystatus.com/psn/Ant101795 ) you have done 5 public events. Along with strikes that's a fairly quick way to gain marks.
