Because it's a real firearm.

Well not entirely. It definitely has strong base similarities to the Beretta ARX160, but instead of being chambered in a 5.56 standard AR mag, it's got a SCAR-H style 7.62x51 magazine. It's also got a Scar-ish stock. This weapon is the unholy bastard child of the Scar-H and the Beretta ARX. It's uncanny.
Being a Science Fantasy title, Destiny is a game that draws upon concepts that can be related to. The guns featured in the game are guns. They fire bullets/shells/rockets. It's a concept that we can relate to in a modern sense. The architecture, armor, ship design, even concepts like the Post Master are all things that we can draw parallels to and it's draws us in and immerses us in this universe. However when you introduce a piece into this game that has ties directly to the modern age in a way that contradicts the lore of the story, it breaks the immersion.
Take for instance the Khvostov 7G-02 Autorifle. It's the first gun you get in the game. For many gamers, it's an M4, albeit heavily modified. The gun fits the game, (not necessarily the location, should have been an AK if you ask me) it's old, it's obviously been there since the Golden Age based on the condition it's in, but you quickly find out that it's not what Guardians are using as a standard weapon. It fits the immersion aspect.
Even certain weapons have familiarities to current world weapons. A few shotguns have AR stocks on them, and the original scout rifles even had a P90 trigger guard and grip on it. It wasn't the actual weapon from modern times, they just had influences and parallels to modern day weapons. It was actually kind of neat.
When you introduce the Hakke Autorifle, it's immediately clear to certain gamers that it is a real world firearm, a Beretta ARX rifle. As a firearms enthusiast, it takes away from that immersion that Bungie has created for Destiny. Whereas the Khvostov fit the situation being an old decrepit relic, the Hakke just feels out of place. It looks like a weapon that jumped out of Call of Duty: Ghosts (a game where the ARX was actually featured) and landed smack dab into Destiny. It just seems out of place visually. It's uncanny. CoD guns should stay in CoD, keep Destiny unique.
Don't get me wrong, I love how Bungie is basically going from cookie cutter Borderlands style guns to company unique Borderlands 2 style guns, and in the timespan of a year no less, but in my opinion, they need to change the look of the Hakke Autorifle before it comes out next year. The Hakke military feel is fantastic, the Auto Rifle is literally the only thing about it that has me a little uneasy.
Keep in mind, this is just an observation and an opinion, I'm not pissed off about it, the BWU just kind of caught me off guard.

People have been asking for weapons that look like our modern day gun (ie. I keep hearing ppl ask for hand cannons that look like m9's) It's a unique look, I like it.
-
It looks like a real gun for a change (like the kvosthov) I and a majority of people like these types of guns
-
1 RispondiBring in activision, who has contracts with the call of duty weapons. Copy and paste- "new" weapon skins. That weapon is almost 100% a SCAR-H
-
1 RispondiDon't compare at all glory SCARH whit an assault rifle of destiny... Just... Don't.
-
1 Rispondi...are we really doing this?
-
Read the description. It's supposed to look like weapons of old.
-
It makes them look unique Hakke designs modern looking weapons anyways
-
Look a little deeper mate
-
That's the idea
-

1 RispondiBut rest assured it will not have the performance of the real thing.
-
No. It looks great the way it is. Just like an 8 year old made it out of lego.
-
They made it look like that for a reason.
-
2 RisposteHakke is a more militaristic weapons manufacturer. The gun is perfect the way it is.
-
6 RisposteThe browning M2 machine gun has been in production since 1921. We still use use this gun today. This is an indication that it is perfect. Point is, some designs last a really long time just sayin Also bungie please nerf the browning M2

Modificato da JoeyJoeJoeJr45: 7/24/2015 4:07:29 AMRead the description of Hakke lol, and look at Suros and Omolon all futuristic and sciencey, in the Weekly update doesn't it even say that some of the new weapons rely on traditional time tested designs?
-
A bukkake auto rifle? That thing will auto target headshots.
-
Eh. I think it fits the companies persona and "no bull shit" philosophy. Take big military suppliers like h&k, FN, Colt, or Remington, all their weapons are absolutely no frills, just straight instruments of war. I dig hakke, I dig their weapons.
-
it fits the company. practicality over looks.
-
I like it cause it looks like a scar
-
2 RisposteWill they make forks different in the future?

As a firearms enthusiast my self, I agree with a lot of what you said...but here's my line of thinking. It said something about gunsmiths having the knowledge of the past weapons, perhaps that's a way to bridge the Hakke weapons into destiny. Makes some sense to me. On a personal note, even though I don't use the last word, I do like to single action target shoot IRL so to see some of Tex Mechanica has me excited...wonder what else they have made in the Destiny universe..?
-
I'll be really surprised if they can finish slapping TTK together before the proposed launch date.

When I first saw the first gun we get I thought it would be cool to have a few guns that look realistic so I like the design of the hakke guns over the others
