DATTO IS RIGHT (PVP UNBALANCED)

I don't want anyone to have their happiness taken away from them, but when certain weapons limit the whole PVP experience, something is wrong. Ps. I'm using Thorn in IB because my 55 ALLFATE that I love just doesn't cut it. Since I'm getting a few responses, I want Bungie to know not to NERF any weapon in the PVE side please.

  • It sounds logic, makes sense, but... There is [b]still[/b] room to be good in PvP or bad. It's not like all the grenades, supers, OP weapons, heavy's mean basically everybody kills everybody all the time. To be even more clear: it's not like everybody has rocket launchers, rockets flying everywhere and noobs and MLG don't matter, everybody dies. No, there are still people getting 10 kill streaks and getting a 2.5K/D, while others end up with a negative K/D. In the end, that's what PvP is about. It's about having a way for the players to battle each other and be able to proof they are better then the rest. This is still possible, even under these circumstances. Strategy, reflexes and experience are still stronger then Thorn. Anyway, I do agree with the video. The time to kill is to short, and most importantly people should be able to use their favorite weapons and have a chance.

  • The instant deaths are what kills Destiny. Blink Shotgunning, Trip Mine Grenades, Fusion Grenade, Magnet Grenades, Hand Cannons, Sniper shotguns, Final Round Snipers (even though they are no longer in the loot pool need to be phased out of the game), Bladedancer, Scorch. Which the meta will only get worse with the new classes which people like me as a Titan being able to throw hammers.

  • Just go into crucible or ToO and with in a few matches it's obviously broken

      If they removed blink you would see a lot of problems stop.Blink makes the peer to peer issues in pvp, and people exploiting worse. Hell it's well known that before you blink and after you land you are or can be made invuln ( not sure if that's bc of an exploit or it's an unwanted side affect) and you can blink out of Thorn's poison burn. Same thing with extended slide. You learn real quick the guys who are going to slide/ shotgun combo the whole match so you adapt. I've Hawkmooned or Thorned players from the start of their slide until they were in my face and it wasn't until I died that they finally died. They should have been dead halfway through the damn slide. Bungie just needs to remove some of these perks or skills until they can figure out what's causing the issues. If it's bc people are exploiting them, then I guess everyone has to be punished to take away more of the exploiters tools. Maybe after awhile enough of them will go away and the skills can be returned. I don't see issues with most weps or skills as I do with what people can do to abuse them. Last Word is not OP, but you will see people use it in scout rifle/sniper range and it loses no dmg for them. How they do it I don't know. But if I am slightly out of range with a Suros, you [b]will [/b]see the dmg dip. The only gun I really see an issue with is The Messenger and I still think that has a lot to do with either Bungie's piss poor connection setup or people exploiting. I have been dropped before I can get a 2nd or 3rd round of with a hand cannon even when I fire first.

      • I'm surprised that this is even being argued. The crucible really is a mess in terms of balance. Me I wouldn't have included Crucible in the first place, not as it is. I'd have left armor/light/damage/defense untouched so the full power of a player's guardian can be brought to bear. Might be less of a headache to balance that way.

      • To me it isn't just the gun side of the game, it is the connection and lag issues. I have a thorn and what good is it if you can't hit a guardian but they can hit you and very quickly. Certain maps have balance issues as well.

      • The current state of destiny PvP is horrible tbh You run away from one thorn, you get hit by another It's everywhere and you can't get away from it Trials is currently taken over by thorns it is honestly ridiculous If everyone is running to one weapon, something is wrong

          While I agree that the DoT needs a slight change on Thorn (4-5 ticks instead of 7) and that TLW needs to get fixed as well. I found a part of Datto's video identified the real problem though even Datto himself failed to see it. He said something about the Thorn that was along the lines of: "This brings it's range to almost the same level as a scout rifle." Now I want you guys to look at the maps he's playing on. They are ALL small as hell and offer maybe ONE area where a scout/pulse rifle can be effective. That's what is NOT okay. When I played the Beta/base game I fell in love with maps like First Light and Bastion because of their versatility. Both of those maps offered many small areas within a large expanse that was absolutely ruled by sniping/scouts/pulse rifles. Unfortunately, a lot of users whined and moaned about this and Bungie pulled them from the cycle... Huge mistake. Now you have maps that straight cater to Thorn/TLW/Hawkmoon/Fellwinters and only those weapons. If you can't quick scope someone with a sniper it's basically useless. That means that scouts and pulses are going to experience the same issue. As for Thorn/TLW/Hawkmoon; they excel in short to mid range encounters while thorn is especially good at mid to (almost but not scout rifle level) long range. If Bungie would just introduce some LARGE maps into regular control/clash them we wouldn't be seeing so many of these issues rise up again and again. Bungie crippled this game by removing those maps. Do you guys remember when Destiny had vehicles? When you could utilize the amazing feature of busting out your sparrow to escape a firefight? Now those things are relegated to a playlist that we're lucky to see once a month, while we endlessly get stuck with these small maps that become shotgun/Thorn/TLW heaven. Those weapons are not a problem at all if you are out of range, but for some reason Bungie decided that range should only matter for a shotty (Felwinters) not map size in general; which really sucks.

          • I don't know what perks you have on your all fate, but I'm always going 2+kd usually using mine with feeding frenzy and reactive reload. Can't do as good with thorn and 9/10 times I out gun them

            • I'm telling y'all. All they need to do is bring the auto rifles back and it'll all be better again. Thorn, The Last Word and Hawkmoon will be a forgotten memory when I'm sniping from across the map with Suros :)

                  I can not say that I disagree that these weapons dominate PVP. However, I can't think of any shooter where this is not case. Halo 1 really the grand father to the modern day console shooter was dominated by the pistol. Call of duty has always been dominated by 2-3 primaries UMP m16 famas, battlefield the same thing. No matter what developers do to try and rebalance a game the outcome will always be that now X weapon is the new OP weapon. I feel at this point in destiny the OP weapons have been readily available to all players multiple times. I am not opposed to rebalancing but mark my words it will just lead to blank blank and blank weapon dominating PVP so what's the difference. At this point I feel that the thorn is really the only glaring problem in PVP. I don't have a real problem with the quick TTK weapons. It is no different than COD has always been twitchy.

                • I've wondered if the number of poison ticks was dependant on range, how it would play out. Farther away = less poison ticks.

                • I run thorn and can be out gunned. Its usually by red death or suros. My friend runs with suros and kills it every game. Its just how good you are.
