As most of us know, if a brand new player buys the collectors edition they get an exotic class item. That existing players don't get.
Have any of you actually looked at what this exotic class item does? It gives you an XP boost...
THIS is what a lot of you people are complaining about?
Let me simplify it for you.
You have 3 characters at 34 for example. Dlc drops. You'll need to level up 1 subclass, and grind from level 20 to level 30. Oh the horror.
So for existing players. Between 3 characters you'll need to grind 30 levels, and 3 subclasses.
Now let's look at a brand new player, on 1 character they will need to do 30 levels and 3 subclasses. On 3 characters. They will need to do 90 levels and 9 subclasses.
OF COURSE they are going to need an XP booster.
When the new rash of players come in are you going to wait to play with people who have their shít levelled up, or someone who is straggling behind? Seriously think about it.
Now let's look at it from another side.
A lot of players complained that it was too easy to level up when they first played. So now your complaining because it isn't even quicker for you?
We all have a fück ton of weapons, so the only ones we need to level are the new ones. Where as brand new players have to do old weapons, and new ones...
Is there seriously only a few of us on these forums that is looking at this situation and thinking "yea... That makes sense actually"
Bearing in mind we will get VIP rewards, superbkack shader+emblem+ a sparrow for being "veterans" of Destiny.
But no... You all want to cry over a class item that will be useless after 3-4 hours if we used it.
EDIT: added a picture of the VIP rewards so you can see the shader, I should point out, I called it superblack, I don't know if that's it's actual name, but it's an all-black shader, so I'm just assuming here.

I agree it makes more sense for newer players to have them, I just want them for the sake of it. Way more interested in that black shader I'm getting.

It's safe to assume that they'll do what they did previously. Have a friend re run the story with them: get marks, buy gear instantly 2 below level cap, and be capable to run the new content. And with exotic class items it's probably safe to say that each mission will get them close to the next level therefore making the 6 hour experience into a 4 hour experience to get to level cap. The fact that level cap gear is getting far easier to get and requires no leveling to get to top rank also makes the game progress exponentially quicker. Don't you remember grinding out mats and anxiously waiting to see the light bar go up one more level? That's gone now. The leveling process has been cut to 1/4 it's original length. I see no reason why they need the XP boost in the first place. But, when you make a game that is filled to the brim and advertise something they can't have unless they re-buy what they already have, or advertise a veteran reward that can surely be acquired in 7 hours (tops) of playtime. You make that person feel like a lesser priority. I respect expanding your brand. Give a discount on the game, but don't deprive your current playerbase of something they want. IDGAF if it has no XP gain, I just want to get it.

XP boosts will always be relevant in Destiny with regards to armor and weapons. If you think that they're only useful for maxing out sub classes then you're mistaken
-
The only way this can work is if the XP boost on the exotics deactivate after a certain time, maybe by Destiny 2. Otherwise, once new players reach the level of day 1 players (which will happen before Destiny 2 easily), they will always have an advantage over day 1 players, and that is complete bullshit. I'd assume that the XP boost won't work anymore after Destiny 2 drops. That gives new players plenty of time to catch up, without putting them at an advantage going in to the next game.

Modificato da Vertycal: 6/20/2015 4:35:20 AMSome people like the collectors edition, you get a strange coin, and other little bits. It's not that which is annoying people, it's the exchange rates. There is no confirmed season pass with the collectors edition. The next question is how does DLC work after The taken king, no season pass, no confirmed DLCs.
-
7 RisposteExactly. Vets don't need an xp boost. We can completely level up an exotic weapon in about an hour. Exotic armor in the same time. We have mats for days. In summary, we have got it pretty good compared to the noobs grinding up. Also I'd much rather level up the factions. Still searching for those elusive shaders.

1 RispondiWait, so how does this whole "season pass" thing work? Is there a new season pass out?

Modificato da randomhero204: 6/20/2015 3:01:46 AMXp boost helps level up weapons faster..... Any weapons ever... Any gear ever.., it'll always be helpful..

9 RisposteThanks for breaking it down like that. It actually does make sense, and is a good way to get new players to get to our level, and fast. However, I'll be dropping $120 on the taken king, because 1) I'm a collector, I want the physical goodies the collector's edition has, and it's safe to say that the exotic class items are going to be a code you enter to get them, so when you destroy them, you can buy them back from the vendor in the tower (the same one who sells the emblem and shaders from the codes you put in on the destiny site pre-launch and the tumbler sparrow from the promotional time frame with TDB). 2) I will give the disc, and dlc cards of the expansions (if there are any, which there shouldn't be) to my cousin or a friend so they can actually play with me. I'll run with them through all the old content, I'll probably delete my titan or hunter and recreate them and run with them, without using the exotic class item until I start working on my subclasses for the deleted character. And 3) it's an exotic class item, ever since i saw the exotic class items on destinydb back in october/november, I've wanted one. Now I can get one. Technically 3. Who knows, maybe if I make my friends console my main console, they'll be able to have the class items too. If not, I'll probably just buy the code off someone for them. No big deal. Again, I can't stress enough that I do agree with you and that it's sound logic. I just want the exotic class items, plus my year 1 stuff.

Where do you preorder for the VIP and digital collectors edition?
-
1 Rispondi-Mark of the Noob -Bond of the Noob -Cloak of the Noob Yeah I think I'll pass on those.

2 RisposteWha happens if you already have the game and buy the collectors edition?

But the titan mark gets a flaming hammer stuck on the side

I actually want the physical goodies more (book, Strange Coin, etc.)

9 RisposteModificato da CreativeTim: 6/20/2015 2:31:49 AMDid you even bother to read how you get the vip rewards? Everyone basically gets it if you buy everything by August. It's should be exclusives to people who bought the game before the taken king was announced. And I heard a rumor that we will have to level up to level 30 to use a new item called a relic. So increased xp will be useful. Besides that you are ignoring the fact that these item are cosmetic too. People could just want them because they like the way they look. The loyal fans should have access to these items for a fair price.
-
Tbh, idc about the collector's edition stuff. We day one owners should get our own unique class item though. Separate from the collector's edition.
-
Destiny will not end after TTK. It will help everyone going forward past that point to have an XP boost for the next DLC so I can see why some are upset. Personally I try not to take anything in video games that seriously. Just relax and enjoy the game.

No this is different

2 RisposteModificato da Tylerch11: 6/20/2015 1:43:36 AMI couldn't care less about any of the extra stuff, but I understand many do. There are many things I will defend Bungie over, but this is not one of them. Out of principal, this is a pretty shitty move if these are not promptly made available to veteran players -- particuarly the new emotes. There is no reasonable justification to deny these items to current players unless they rebuy content they already have. To support this notion is to support bad business. As a consumer, you are basically saying "Yes Bungie, I'll bend over now. Please continue to take advantage of me. My wallet is on the counter." What the items are is much less the point than the fact items that can be utilized by all players are exclusive to the purchase of content already bought.
-
I don't see why people would even want the exotic class item. Just wearing it would instantly mean you're either a brand new kid and you will be frowned upon, or you dropped $80 for something you already own and will be called a retard for wasting money.
-
Who has been begging for new shaders and emotes? The loyal fan base? Who would want the best package and all content? The loyal fan base? Why would someone1 who has never played destinty want the most expensive package? They know loyal costomers want all content so they lock behind the most expensive wall they can justify. Blatent cash gran

10 RisposteDidnt bungie say that existing players 30 or higher get the extra vip stuff anyway
-
2 Risposte>he's not heard of power-levellers If you're maining one class, and creating/twinking/binning a duplicate of it in your third character slot several times a week to get extra goes at the raids, nightfalls, etc., then these items will be the fecking Black Lotus.
-
1 RispondiYou forgot levelling up all of the new TTK weapons, and they get shaders and dance moves
-
20 RisposteAny noob that comes along and buys the $80 legendary edition gets both expansions vip rewards and the exclusive exotic class items, the shaders and new emotes which you can only get through buying this edition. This means that Day 1 players who have spent $100 dollars + $40 for the taken king get less unless they re-buy all of the expansions which would mean that in total they would've spent $60 more than a noob buying the legendary edition. They should sell a Veteran Edition at $45 (seems fair) with the following: The Taken King All the Digital extra content from the collectors edition The weapon pack and the VIP loot what you think? fight for what is right #VeteransUnite You need to fix this Bungie!
