It's total garbage to tie light level (XP level, for all intents and purposes) to gear, diversify that gear to many specific extents in terms of ability or environment, and then put the onus on the players as "collectors." How many different pieces of exotic gear are there that amplify something like a single type of grenade? Sometimes I'm on a map like Pantheon, which is tripmine paradise. Gonna want my Young Ahamkara's Spine. Or I'm gonna bladedance and anticipate blind corners. Lucky Raspberry, please. Other maps benefit the concept of choke points and area control. Gonna want my Sunbreakers. Or we're gonna play whack-a-mole through the doorways. Gimme the Nothing Manacles. And that's just grenades. Not even gonna touch supers, because holy shit, the same argument applies. But what about raids? Vault gear makes absolute sense in the Vault, weapons and armor alike. Same with Crota's End gear. Same with Prison of Elders. Same with whatever raid comes forth in The Taken King. Some raid gear plays out nicely outside of its respective raid, but it all plays VERY nicely inside. And that's four raid environments right there, with four pieces each for three different characters. You do the math. Not even gonna touch weapons either, or the elemental burn necessities, or the other combat modifiers that require flexibility (small arms, specialist, juggler). Compound all that with a lack of optional matchmaking, where players have to engage third-party fireteam building within a community that essentially demands the fluidity provided by an assortment of gear (must be level X, must have weapons Y and Z). That shit's lame, Bungie. Don't build your shit this way and then oversimplify the problem by dismissively calling me a "collector" who has to make "tough choices." Like I'm into novelty or looks or something trite. Fact is I'm a longtime player who likes to make smart choices based on where I'm going, what I'll be doing, and who I'll be taking with me. That's a different and more intensive animal than somebody who just likes hoarding pretty things. Either give me a growing, dynamic perk tree that's actually tied to my characters' experience instead of the damn gear itself, let me build/transmogrify my own gear, or give me some more damn vault space. Because just calling me a "collector" insults your own design more than it insults my motivations.

Anyone who still plays destiny does so to get a crapload of gear, me included. I am a self declared hoarder in games. The fact that vault space is so limited pisses me off. And the fact that he said people need to delete weapons to keep playing also pisses me off. Activision also really REALLY pisses me off, but destiny is a great game and we have to deal with it.

Are people serious with this? Look at the amount of space you have, altogether. each character can hold 30 weapons, so that's 90 weapons without using a single slot of vault space. The vault can hold 36 weapons currently. That's 126 weapons you can own, use, and equip in this game. I don't care what anybody says, you do NOT need 126 weapons in this game, and even if you wanted to have a gun for every situation, it still shouldn't take up that many. Why would people still even have guns from pre-HoW unless they're attached to them(which I can totally understand)? Aside from the raid weapons and exotics and a few gems here and there, the new guns are factually better because they can be rerolled to have the EXACT same perks as all those other weapons in vanilla. Ok, so you want to collect every exotic? Fine, that's what, around 30 weapons. Still can be stored on one character. Still leaves room for nearly 100 other weapons. I'm sorry, but this game honestly doesn't even have enough real variety in weapons to justify more vault space, when all you really need is your basic elemental primaries, the exotics, and a few good kinetic and legendary primaries. I don't have every exotic in this game, nor do I want every exotic in this game at the moment. I still haven't dropped a Fatebringer or Word of Crota, never got Icebreaker and have 1 maxed Gjally(the other one just dropped), and I've made it by just fine with what I've got. You can't say that Bungie isn't giving you enough space when you're the one unnecessarily hoarding weapons for no reason.

Thats precisely what hes saying. You really only need a Thorn, Fatebringer, Icebreaker, and Ghorn.
