A lot of these teams are taking 4 to 5 hours to complete challenge mode Prison of Elders. One guy on GameFaq said it took him 10 hours (although hopefully that's an extreme case). That's roughly 4 to 5 hours without a checkpoint system to allow for an extended break.
Long periods of gaming without breaks are unhealthy and can have dangerous results. Repetitive Motion Syndrome is very real and very painful. Not to mention other problems like obesity, arthritis, headaches, etc.
I remember as a kid that game companies would get slammed if they included long form gameplay with no ability to stop and come back to it. Now no one bats an eye. I understand that a lot of people don't take their health seriously and will blow this off. And yes, I realize that you can sit in the airlock. But I've yet to be in a game where a group sat in the airlock more than just the time it takes to use the bathroom.
PoE needs a checkpoint system. Not having one promotes unhealthy gameplay. I'm not saying that every round needs a checkpoint but there needs to be a point where players can rest and come back to it.
EDIT - while not strictly on topic, Aceebro posted the following links down in the comments. I thought that they were important and relevant enough that everyone should take a look at them. They talk about Humane Design and the need for games to have viable exit points. Please take a look....

Good points, after trying 35 and spending 3 hrs trying to beat skolas I'm just not gonna do it anymore. The other levels are fun and challenging, the 35 was fun until skolas. I agree after that many hours can't be healthy. Maybe it's my skill level maybe it's too hard whatever, I know it's supposed to be a challenge and I can appreciate that but no save point is just a poor decision so it's up to the gamer to say when it's enough.

6 RisposteI always take a break every hour regardless of what I'm doing. People who sit for longer periods of time are at fault. It's not ones issue but their own. If I'm in PoE and it's been roughly and hour, I'll say I'll brb for a snack, need to stretch, bathroom, quick lap around the house and whatnot. Something people lack in order to do this is self discipline.

3 RisposteGood post. The lack of checkpoints have an effect on people where they feel they can't stop until they kill the boss even over other priorities. Add in that there are no rewards unless you complete it and it really is terrible design. Meanwhile, Trials offers you a passage card keeping track of your progress, allowing you to play at your leisure. Did the two teams designing HoW content corroborate at all?

2 RisposteDude I do the lvl 28 in around 10 minutes. I did the 32 in under a hour

Bahahahahahahahahahaha

2 RisposteThey need implement checkpoint in prison of elders. Say if everyone had a checkpoint on round 5, they can enter, if not, the restart button would need to implemented. I absolutely hate spending like an hour or 2 getting to skolas and then a further 2 or 3 hours just trying to kill him

2 RisposteI two manned lv34 whole run in 30min and 1hr Max 35...

8 RisposteSo if I get this correctly, peddlers of addiction are at fault not the ones lacking self control to refuse it? It's the girls fault for dressing like that. She's totally asking for it. But isn't it the rapists fault that decided to do the -blam!-? Sue the tobacco companies for cancer. But the pack a day smokers aren't at fault? Food corporations are at fault for obesity and it's not the fault of the people who put the food on their own plate? All I'm saying is the argument doesn't hold up.

Dude. One dude was at it 17 hours. 17. Hours. I don't see how that's humanly possible.
-
34 takes about an hour The first week 35 however took us 9 hrs as we didn't look at utube and fought it unawares ( used the g horn strat in the end )
-
This is why I have not played lvl 34-35. I have the self control to avoid wasting my time on a game mode that gives crappy rewards and consumes amounts of time. 4-5 hours to get a weapon with shank burn, lol try again next life Bungie.

Modificato da SpydrByte: 6/2/2015 5:23:47 PMI feel this needs to be addressed. I'm not one to give advice but i recommend everyone to get a gaming chair or a desk chair if they just have their back on a wall or just game with nothing to lean on, it helps my back more and it doesn't prompt me to lean forward anymore.

100% agree.
-
Exactly! I was up until 4 am trying to do skolas arc
-
Couldn't agree more

Idk about anyone else n all I did was read the first paragraph n saw 5 hrs+ w/o breaking. For me, I take a break every hour or two. I will tell my damn team to wait or I'm gonna break in a bit guys. I have major add n it takes a lot OUTTA me to be sitting there but I'm having fun soooo
-
They should add checkpoints after each round and make it so you have to complete all rounds to get a reward at the end. I've pretty much given up on the Prison of Elders because I've had to stop playing after a couple hours and lost all my progress
-
1 RispondiSolid points. Nice reference and well written. Good on you and I agree. I don't play POE much since I'm not a fan of it but I can agree with not having CP as an issue.

2 RisposteModificato da MrJayKiller: 6/2/2015 3:35:39 PMya I had to stop playing less and I had to start going to the gym because I've gain 20 pounds since the release of TDB expansion pack. My summer isnt as great as i thought it be lol :p

5 Risposte
A lot of these teams are taking 4 to 5 hours to complete Long periods of gaming without breaks are unhealthy and can have dangerous results. Repetitive Motion Syndrome is very real and very painful. PoE needs a checkpoint system. Not having one promotes unhealthy gameplay.
I disagree. This is supposed to involve teamwork and reward end game content. If you're not good enough, either as a team or individually, then you don't really deserve it. I never was a fan of the participation trophy. If it's taking you that long, you're probably out of your league and need to come back. Also, if you're doing those long hours of gaming where you hurt yourself, I have no sympathy for you (if you're an adult), and I pity the parenting skills of the parent (if you're a kid). Turn off the game. It's not that hard, especially when money isn't at stake.
-
2 RisposteIn my experience with skolas the actual game play is like 1-2 minutes and then 10 minutes of waiting for synths. I go do stuff during that waiting time

Modificato da valmorphisis: 6/2/2015 3:06:51 PMYou can see the frustration on LFG. People demanding Skolas CP. I get into a Skolas CP by chance and the poor guy in there is at his wits end, has died 100 times, and can barely care about proper strategy.
