Since I started running HM VoG a few dozen times, I've only seen 1 or 2 weapons drop, which is fine. What's strange is that I get the exact same thing every single run with only 2 exceptions.
Aspect of glASS
Shards
Players can say RNG all you like, but when 95% of your runs yield the exact same things over and over again, you gotta wonder if the game tends to lock players into a single set of items, and eschews the rest.
Does anyone else experience this?
-
It really feels like it, but RNG is RNG
-
4 RisposteI have done the vault at least 50 times and have never received a heavy weapon from it. I have every thing but those two. That doesn't make any sense.
-
7 RisposteIf you play better you get better drops. I wouldn't expect a scrub like you to know this.
-
Player drops are not governed by simple RNG, I suspect there are several multipliers as described in linked post; one being player specific, another being a weekly modifier and another being activity specific.

4 RisposteI wondered this myself while doing Crota's End(could they not have come up with a better name?). I ran the HM CE 7-8 times getting Word of Crota almost every time. Sometimes I would get the Raid Helm and once, I got The Last Word What agitated me was the belief that Bungie had apparently fixed the repeating loot drops with their "new algorithm" they introduced for the new Raid. However, I kept receiving the same Hand Cannon and/or the Raid Helm In my last run, I finally received something different, the Fang of Ir Yut which happened to be the last weapon I was really looking for so I'll be putting Destiny down for awhile and catching up on my back log of games
-
I get a lot of VoC, Vexes, swordbreakers and word(s) of Crota. Only one fatebringer and black hammer.
-
2 RisposteI know the feeling I have 7 oversoul edicts but not one abyss defiant
-
Crota refuses to give me anything else but the black hammer on normal and the Fang on hard, it's extremely irritating
-
It could be inadvertent. They meant to have the crucible play list as random, but it always ended up repeating itself. So much so that they patched it out in 1.1.1.

It sure seems that way 8 dragons breath 7 no land beyond 7 gjallarhorn 6 plan c X X X X X X 0 suros

Yes DEEJ had them reset mine . Post in the help section

Every time i do HM Atheon, I always get these exact things: Helm, Mats, Sparrow. IN THAT ORDER!

That's myth. Rngesus just hates you

4 RisposteIs very possible I believe to be locked into a certain group of drops. I have received every exotic bounty at least twice and some more.....and my good friend has been playing the same amount as myself and has received approx 15 exotic bounty drops. All 15 have been the exact same 3 options. Thorn, Invective, Bad Juju. He has never gotten an option with different choices. Coincidentally when we do raids or weeklies together, the game "knows" what each of us needs and gives it to the other person. I will get shards and he gets energy. Every time.

VoG gear is extremely rare. Ships/sparrow are less rare then the others. Its actually more likely you'll get one of those a tobne of times. Especially the ship
-
it all depends on who you are playing with ;)

I could be crazy or just seeing what I want to see, but I FEEL like I get repeats of everything I already have. I've found 3 Suros, 3 P&T, 2 NLB, and keep getting gloves and feet in CE. When I play this game, it reminds me in a lot of ways of Phantasy Star Online. In PSO the drops your character was even able to get were determined by a "Section ID" generated from a combination of letters/characters chosen that made up your character name. That meant, for that character, you would have a higher chance of finding a Great Sword but almost no chance of finding a Handgun (for example). Now obviously I can't say that Destiny employs this kind of drop table, but as I've said, I keep getting similar drops, so it reminds me A LOT of that old PSO system.

I've been running VoG every week for months with the same character and I never got Vex Mythoclast once. I created a second character a few weeks ago and got it the second week I ran VoG. On the other hand, while my raid drops tend to be bad, I am super lucky with engrams.
-
9 RisposteNo one gets the Praetorian Foil
-
The cryptarch gave me the exact same rare machine gun 5 times in a row and the I got THE SWARM
-
I think that they give the sought after items to enough people to where everyone thinks that getting it is achievable, which makes everyone try more.
-
One of my friends has received Aspect of Glass on 13 straight VoG hard runs, so I know he sees it as a possibility.
-
I have been a believer of this for a long time now. It seems my lucky roll is shotguns and fusion rifles. I HATE shotguns! and rarely ever use a fusion rifle. One week I ran the NF 3x and got....yup you guessed it 3 GD shotguns! which promptly became energy. I have yet to have a launcher or sniper rifle drop other than raid weapons. Been playing since beta and still no G-horn only exotic I am missing in the game other than the Necro thing that I hear sucks any way.

There was a great article written awhile back (will try and find it to link) but essentially the guy explained how it could be possible bungie lowers your drops rates of the guns you frequently use. So for example - if you primarily use rocket launchers as your heavy ( which they know bc it's already tracked, you can see how many kills you have with them) and the only rocket you don't have is a g-horn. They could lower the drop % to essentially make you continue to play. The other theory was that the weapons you have are on a theoretical chart and the more checks you have (weapons owned) the lower the chances are for ones without checks (weapons you don't have) In both situations they extend your gameplay based off the premise that you want what you don't have so they bottleneck your progress to make their numbers look good.
