Who the hell gives a life for [i]their franchise[/i]? "Yes, we'll be able to knock out Destiny 2 profitably enough but after Destiny 3 we'll loose it and never be able to justify making Destiny 4. 10 years, there about, that's all we'll get out of this one." There's two reasonable possibilities here: bungie was operating under normal PR standards of providing ambiguity to satisfy all potential interests (ie. hype the audience up with unreal expectations for their [i]game [/i]while providing "franchise" deniability after the game itself doesn't justify the original vague remark) or they were [i]very foolish[/i] (ie. letting on that they expect even [i]less [/i]from Destiny than Halo). Neither is a defensible remark.
