I now see why people say "fake 30"
So Last week I completed the raid for the first time on Normal. I met a few really nice people on here who were showing newbies the ropes from a fresh start. At this time I was a 29, with IB boots and gauntlets, an exotic chest and a Vangard Helm. I was lucky enough to run the raid on a Sat night/Sun morning so I completed it again with both my characters the following Tuesday. During my second run I received a raid chest piece and swapped out my exotic Helm for my Vangard and switched over to the raid Chest and quickly maxed it out, getting me to lvl 30. So a couple nights ago I was in a team to do the raid agin on Normal, since I'm still new to it and one of the guys in the fireteam suggested we run it on hard as we were all 29's and 30's. I told them that I had never run the raid on Hard yet, never used the relic and never did the portals when you have to take out the gate keepers. "No problem" they said, "don't worry" they said. Well long story short, we didn't get very far at all because of my lack of knowledge and little experience in the raid. I don't agree on the term "Fake 30" but I definitely see what they mean by it since before IB you can only be a 30 from the raid. Anyway, I felt like shit and now I know I'm not ready just yet.
Edit: One thing too, I don't condone the term fake 30, nor do I consider myself a fake 30 either, because regardless of how I got there I still put work in. And my situation, what happened to me, was the definition of the term "fake 30" that people were using, referring to the fact that I was a 30 with little to zero raid experience. The term should be something like "not ready for hard raid, but still put time in 30." Kinda long, I know. Or "really good at other aspects of the game just not the raid 30." Also a little long.

Not to offend you or anything I'm sure your a great guardian. In my opinion. Once you said you haven't done the portals or anything I probably wouldn't of done it. I mean to think of it... It can't be all your fault right? Your not the only one damaging the bosses etc. You have a mind of your own. But, now you know how it works and you will be doing amazing the next time ! :D. Anyways, I'm very elitist now when it comes to raiding. So I would be asking for your fully maxed gear/guns/ and achievement. ^_^

I've done 50+ raids and have failed to get The graves so I said screw it I'm buying it after that I did like 12 raids And I haven't gotten them still

I think a fake 30 is one that does more in the vog than the 29s. We've all seen it.

4 RisposteNo such thing as a "fake 30" unless you hacked the game to achieve that level or something. Everyone who plays the game and gets the gear is a legit level 30 character. I get that people are referring to people who aren't experienced with the raid when they say "fake 30", but that term is illogical.

Just say IB 30 or raid 30. I have 2 30's and a 29 and never got passed rank 2 in IB so I do not own any "fake" gear. I have plenty of friends who have 50+ normal completions and 20+ hard completions and are still 29 because rng does not think they deserve to be 30. Idc how you get to 30, bad people will always be bad and people who are good or have the potential to be good will always disprove the "fake" 30 term. Sadly there are more casual and bad players than anything else in destiny so it makes it hard not to want to call people fake. That's my 2 bits, take it or leave it, I could care less. I will play this game until it becomes a complete waste of time and money or I complete all the available content.

30 is about skill. I ran a hard raid on my 29 Titan and was 2nd in kills and had 0 deaths other than our team wipes. If you're better than most 30s, then you're a good 30, periods. If you're not, then you're a bad 30. It's simple really.

There are tips/personal preferences in almost every aspect of the raid. The raid is fun but enjoying it really depends on your team mates. Most of the time I play when I know I can dedicate time to it and try to help people learning the ropes, but there are times that I'm sleepy and would just want to get it over with. In my opinion, there are no FAKE 30s. It's just lack of experience of lack of communication on how to beat the raid. Hell, you brought IB armors, maybe you are great at Pvp, you just don't know where to hide, or where the mobs spawns at a particular portion of the raid.

1 RispondiNot sure what's so hard about hard raid lol. A friend of mine had only completed and attempted normal twice, and the first time he did it, he was carried all the way to the end as a 25. We decided to take him on a hard raid run, and to our surprise he got a healthy amount of kills and didn't die once. Go figure.

I knew more about the Raid before I even got in the VoG than those people that cheesed it every time. [spoiler]First time in the Raid and I'm level 29 explaining to level 30s (pre-Iron Banner) how to do the Templar encounter... We didn't know if they'd patched the Templar yet, so we just assumed they had.[/spoiler]

I do not bother with the term 'fake'. Waste my time and their's. I aim to train those that stand by me in order to succeed, not to pin labels on them until they are molded into a pretty picture. What you know is all you have as a weapon against those who will test you. There is definitely a skill level gap in this game between long time 30's and brand new 30's but the difference is just that. Knowledge, experience, and the way they are defined. I welcome you to the most elite of the guardians, but what you were once giving as an excuse is now no longer a valid option. You must learn! So that those behind you may learn from you in turn. Take steps and tell us of those tales that spin off of the dust beaten trail! This is a call for adventure! Now with the new expansion you will get to see what determination can bring one's self.

don't beat yourself up dude... 4 will get the job done given a few attempts to get who's doing what down... I have trouble myself if I pick up the relic having cleared the gatekeeper and guys... I can't cleanse myself and remain blind this keeps happening and I'm always met with silence and ridicule when I ask why :/

All about experience, man. Get a few more raids under your belt and you'll be ready for hard mode. It's very similar to a normal raid, so once you have all the phases down, you should be fine. Just remember that stuff has more HP at lv 30.

no such thing as a "fake 30". the raid wasnt made to be easy. my suggestion would be to raid more. its fun beating the confluxes with a full team, but when ur the last one alive trying to make it to the left pillar or spirit bloom chest with the legions chasing u, its crazy. all through the raid when finishing a checkpoint short a member or two or as a full squad, is rewarding. not that i want anymore sparrows, ships, or chatterwhite.

I have a friend who has never completed a full raid but is lvl 30 ( 3 pieces or raid gear plus 1 exotic ). He is actually really good in the raid but the groups he played with always disbanded before the end... I have completed the raid 3 or 4 times and attempted countless other times but have yet to get a piece of raid gear... Most of the people calling others fake 30 were the ones pushing atheon off to get there gear...
