So Last week I completed the raid for the first time on Normal. I met a few really nice people on here who were showing newbies the ropes from a fresh start. At this time I was a 29, with IB boots and gauntlets, an exotic chest and a Vangard Helm. I was lucky enough to run the raid on a Sat night/Sun morning so I completed it again with both my characters the following Tuesday. During my second run I received a raid chest piece and swapped out my exotic Helm for my Vangard and switched over to the raid Chest and quickly maxed it out, getting me to lvl 30. So a couple nights ago I was in a team to do the raid agin on Normal, since I'm still new to it and one of the guys in the fireteam suggested we run it on hard as we were all 29's and 30's. I told them that I had never run the raid on Hard yet, never used the relic and never did the portals when you have to take out the gate keepers. "No problem" they said, "don't worry" they said. Well long story short, we didn't get very far at all because of my lack of knowledge and little experience in the raid. I don't agree on the term "Fake 30" but I definitely see what they mean by it since before IB you can only be a 30 from the raid. Anyway, I felt like shit and now I know I'm not ready just yet.
Edit: One thing too, I don't condone the term fake 30, nor do I consider myself a fake 30 either, because regardless of how I got there I still put work in. And my situation, what happened to me, was the definition of the term "fake 30" that people were using, referring to the fact that I was a 30 with little to zero raid experience. The term should be something like "not ready for hard raid, but still put time in 30." Kinda long, I know. Or "really good at other aspects of the game just not the raid 30." Also a little long.
Edit 2: thank you to all the people with encouraging words and people who offered to run it with me. I'm on XB1, same GT. I am off for the winter so I'll be playing more often, if you are on XB1 also send me a friend request. Thanks again.

Nah, you said up front you weren't ready and they kinda peer pressured you lol! That's different. Keep it up, good luck!

I see what you mean in some ways but there really is a lot to be said for experience and skill of the player. I got the 30 with a combo of raids and ib gauntlets but cleared about 7-8 normal prior to going on hard. I've seen some pretty poor 30s and some amazing 29s. It all depends on skill and experience. I did the raid on Thursday with my level 26 hunter with maxed everything and I could totally feel the difference in damage give and taken!

2 RisposteIt is all about experience , there are some (raid lv30s) that got their items early so they still fresh! i did Hard VoG with lv27 in my team and lv29s We should use (FRESH lv30)
-
Lvl 30 doesn't guarantee that the player is "really good" at any aspect of the game other than grinding.
-
4 RisposteWtf who the #€££ says fake 30. How inept and asinine is that. So if you bought digital download you got a fake game. Have a job where you sit down all day? Fake work! It seems this is just a ?@×€#bag way of patting oneself on the back. I wonder if people understand that clapping at yourself is not applause... it is just weird.

2 Risposteare u a 30 if yes the you are a real 30, done
-
4 RisposteHey man I have run the raid more times then I can count and always clear I'm on xb1 gamer tag swajames of you ever want some help I have run multiple lvl 29 groups to help them its not difficult you just got to have someone explain it. Furthermore the fact that you would come out and say it instead of assuming makes it so much easier. Add me I am gonna be running g groups all day today.

1 RispondiIf you use the words "fake 30" your prolly just salty as hell. Both my warlock and Hunter are 30 and I didn't cheese or buy IB gear to max, I'm just saying you sound pissed. And why? Who cares how they got there, you all act like getting to 30 is some golden club. All that's matters is your 30 and ready to rock an roll on Tuesday. Peace im outta here !
-
No worries bud. Just keep running it on normal til you get the game mechanics down then try hard again. But it was pretty cool of you to admit up front you were new to the raid.
-
1 RispondiIt definitely takes some time to learn all the aspects of each part so definitely don't feel bad. It wasn't until I got my second character to 30 that I felt completely comfortable to do every aspect of the raid. Takes a good amount of practice to learn what causes what to happen and when certain things spawn. You will get it, fear not.

Only The Strong is recruiting active and skilled players. Must play at least 5 or 4 days a week Must have at least one lvl 28+ character Message ZENITH SP4RT4N on XBOXONE

2 RisposteI like your honesty. You'll get the experience, just comes with hours spent in there. I've been lucky enough to find a group of 6 guys when I turned 26 (all randomers to each other) and we all ran the Raid as virgins, and ran it every week since then on our multiple characters. We've all been 'carried' at some point due to RNG but without them I wouldn't have got the experience I needed. My best suggestion is find/create a group of similar ilk (experience, playing hours & time, levels etc) and work your way up together. You'll all learn a lot more about finding out how the Raid functions that way, which I believe will be essential when Crota's Raid drops as a lot of principles will carry over.

The hard raid can be done with 29s!!!!!
-
Just practice it mate no ones perfect first time playing
-
In my opinion the only "fake 30" out there are the hackers.
-
I could only get to 30 with the IB gear because the god damned raid wouldn't give me any armor! Before IB I had the raid chest and all of the normal mode weapons. Then I got the boots and gauntlets, though I don't like my boots as they are only strength. And I still don't have the helmet...
-
Light level is no indicator of skill. Never was. Fake 30s is just another form of people being hurt that they can't be all shiny and special anymore, just like the exotic earners etc. Its just a silly term used by tryhards mostly.
-
2 RispostePic or didn't happen
-
fake 30s are people who got carried a ton of times and got all the raid armor without even being helpful for the team ;) and this is a thing that i see a lot of times. but i always like to help people online so i dont care that much ...
-
1 RispondiTo sympathise; I'm a lvl 30 but I didn't do IB and I got all my gear from raids However I've found myself always doing the same tasks, as I was good at them, they were easy and I was in my comfort zone Thus I run a raid the other day on normal, just to help out and didn't get anything from it, but as I was a 30 I was asked to use the relic, lead the gorgons maze and lower templars Shield etc But you know what, I lacked experience cos higher lvls always did it, and I was happy to let them. From this I've learnt I need to do these positions and perhaps run the raid a few times just for the experience, and to get out my comfort zone even if it means screwing things up a few times....it's not all about running timely successful raids. And I'd be happy to run raids with you if u add me
-
Not a Raid 30, but an IB 30, or Cave 30, how does that sound?
-
Man this post hits me right at home. I've have done the hard raid with "fake 30s" a few times. They always think the can run and gun in the raid like a pvp match. If you're 30 and don't have any experience in the raid you need to let your fire team know so they can bring you up to speed and you can actually contribute massive damage that 30s put out in the raid. Props to the OP for letting the group know they had little raid experience. I'd take a player like that in my fire team any day.
-
2 RisposteI'm on PS4, and last night i lead my first raid through the vault start to finish to help a friend of a friend who needed more raid experience. Having done the raid on normal and hard, i'm still stuck at 29 because i can't those blasted boots. Now this is the way i see it, everyone complained that atheon porting 3 randoms ruined the teamwork aspect. I believe it strengthens the team. Now eveyone on the team should know how to do every job. Use the relic in templar to learn and practice for the time portals. Use the opening spire to learn to defend the portals. And practice avoiding the fanatics during legions on templar to practice getting away from the supplicants. And always, always communicate what's happening. Everyone on the team needs to have a good picture of whats happening in all areas in case someone goes down or needs help. Now that being said, Rule #1 of the Hard Raid : DON'T DIE!

Modificato da Redacted6316: 12/7/2014 3:24:01 PMthe boots don't matter, the gauntlets make it so you gain more energy from oracles or praetorian thats about it, there are people that have done the hard raid before about 50 times and still are 29 cause their unlucky to not get the raid boots. the only difference with the raid boots and iron banner boots are that they give extra ammo, raid for heavy ammo and iron banner auto/hand cannon. I suggest you stay with normal raid until you 100% know the ropes of the normal raid and then attempt it on hard I also suggest not including 29's, 1 at the most cause they take 20% more damage than 30's causing them to die faster not only that but are they most likely not experienced and have worse guns, make sure you check beforehand. another tip, communication is key, if you got people without mics you can count it as a loss, as for atheon you will need atleast 4 people experienced with the relic.

Modificato da MillienDaes: 12/7/2014 3:31:08 PMYour view is skewed a 30 Lvl doesn't belong to the vog. That's a view created by the people on the forums and such. A year from now what's the view going to be. 3 months time and our view of Destiny is entirely different from what we thought the night it was released. Let's say bungie creates a new activity let's it's genocide. Which is the only way to get to 40. Does that mean every one else who gets there by other means are fake. It's crazy how people think.
-
More properly I think we should label the differences as raid thirty and regular thirty. Raid are ones who know the raid inside out
