Ridiculous defenses I have seen of Destiny so far.
I love bungie, I loved halo, but let's face it. Destiny was a let down. There is no way you can objectively justify the lack of a story, the redundant missions, the horrible dialogue, etc. Yet people try to justify it anyway. I'm putting together the most ridiculous defenses of Destiny's mediocrity I can find:
1. The dialogue is supposed to be short and to the point.
2. Destiny is not an MMO, so don't expect to have more than 3 players or voice chat
3. Destiny is an MMO, you better get used to it. MMOs rarely come with the whole story.
4. The campaign is just a prologue. It will be much better when they release DLC.
5. The missions are supposed to be repetitive.
6. The missions aren't repetitive at all!
7. Go play call of duty you cod fanboy.
8. go play halo you halo fanboy!
9. Yes, halo had interesting campaigns, but this is not Halo! Go play halo if you love it so much.
10. I think bungie did a really really good job
11. The ghost is a ROBOT! He is supposed to sound emotionless.
12. the ghost has a lot of personality, you just don't understand Peter dinklage's deadpan delivery.
13. Destiny is really really good! You are just a troll.
14. bungie has a plan!
15. You haven't even played the game!
16. It's an RPG! RPG'S aren't supposed to be about action.
17. Destiny is not an RPG, it's a shared world shooter.
18. You are just butthurt because you keep dying.
19. The story is in the grimoire! Just open your computer or mobile app during the game!
20. The game starts after you beat it.
Face it guys, I really wanted Destiny to be fantastic. I like it a lot, but it was nowhere near my expectations. Expectations bungie had me believing.

11 RisposteOver hyped. I love it, they just did not deliver a "rich story" as promised. And the grimoire is not a justified way of conveying the story either. I bought a video game, not a book (though I would like to see a Destiny book! The Halo ones were awesome). ALSO. Peter Dinklage's voice acting was not bad. It was the script. He delivered what was asked of him.

1 RispondiI played the beta, read all the reviews and watched YouTube vids and trailers on it. I knew exactly what I was getting and expecting from destiny. A fps with an online story mode. Its not a rpg and I wasn't expecting it to be. All the stuff people complain about I think it's perfectly fine the way it is. People who expected more obviously didn't research the game well enough. If you played beta or alpha why would a person expect it to be more?

While I know it's really only for a certain group of people, the grimoire cards have a lot of lore in them, for example there's a [spoiler]Exo card that tells a story of an Exo testing out death so that he/she can get inside his memories it even had talk about Jupiter in it but it states it is just the emptiness in his/her heart[/spoiler] there's story there you just have to listen/read carefully, I love this game with a passion!

In all honesty tho man. I totally agree with you. I just hope they actually read some of the complaints and act on them. Or at least say SOMETHING about it in there weekly updates...all in all I'm still enjoying this game with my brothers and will probably keep it around for a long time

1 RispondiMy only complaints are the original showing and now not having the ability to go anywhere you can see and the missing animation of friends dropping in from their ships. Also the story/characters are garbage. The rest is how I wanted it to be and better.

13 RisposteI was going to make an entire thread for a review but I'll just post my review here Destiny has the kind of quality you'd expect of a free-to-play game, only I payed $70 for it. level twenty cap was a dumb idea, they've tried to make the game less of a grind but ended up making the grindiest game ever. once you've played the (lack of) main story and the strikes there is really nothing to do, no adventure or discovery, no mysteries to be solved, no no hidden secrets to be found in the world (which is tiny). you reach level 20 and find yourself thinking "where's the rest? is this really it?" missions are boring and repetitive, you can only play the same strike so many times before you feel like bashing your head against a wall. its so monotonous trying to earn vanguard marks, it seems like bungie is trying to force us all into pvp for some dumb reason. I could write 100 pages on this but I couldn't be bothered to, so in conclusion I really want to like this game, the setting and concept are good enough but it just doesn't quite make it. nice beta bungie, when are you going to release the full game? 3/10 the score seems to be going down with each passing day <(–.–)>

4 RisposteI had no expectations this isn't my first game release. I grew up playing ACTUAL Mediocre games and we LOVED them. I am not sure what you expected... Lack of Story - it is a FPS not Final Fantasy,, Redundant missions - I am not sure what Great formula you expected but this is pretty standard for FPS games. You aim , You shoot, You win. Horrible Dialogue - Again it is a FPS. Please tell me how you would make an interesting story and stay true to FPS Genre ?

1 RispondiIf you compared it to shooters, it's got waaay more content. If you compare it to the recent RPG's however, it doesn't. Hopefully more to come.
