I don't know about anyone else, but I absolutely loved reading the Halo Books. I didn't start reading them till after Halo 3, when I was in college, but they were the books that got me started on reading for pleasure. I cannot wait to see where Bungie will take this universe they have created and how they will be adding on to it through different forms of media. All Bungie has done so far is set up the scene and already everyone is ecstatic. They have plenty of room to tell a story from the golden age, the collapse, or even the current rebuilding period that I am assuming we will be starting in.
I can't wait... Did you guys enjoy the Halo book series? would you like to see them do something similar for Destiny? Have I missed some small piece of news that has confirmed that there will be books in the Destiny universe?

I remember getting the first three Halo books and reading them when I was a hyped 13 year old crossing fingers for a Halo 2 PC release. The prequel book, Fall of Reach, was a very informing about the circumstances leading to the opening of Halo. The Flood was an interesting canon telling of the campaign story; the details included flesh out the story beyond what technology and time constraints at Bungie would allow back in the day. And then, First Strike showed the in-betweens of Halo and Halo 2, without which the abrupt start of Halo 2's campaign is no longer disorienting. It also showed a tiny bit of philosophical/sentimental engagement by the Chief you'd never get to see in the games before Halo 4. For me, I valued how the books augmented what I understood about the game and the circumstances being experienced outside of my own. Books can connect dots, enhance our appreciation for certain characters, and create additional depth that hints at what's to come without having to negotiate a way to shove it in our faces in-game when it isn't important yet (e.g. the Chief activating the underground Forerunner bridge). Having supplementary material like that is enriching and good for your brain. Unfortunately, it also is a hassle for the "literary casual" to read it, so whatever is made exclusive to the book needs to be non-essential to understanding what is happening in the game. Ideally, hints of EVERYTHING would be present in-game, but I don't know how much Dark Souls they're gonna want to shove into Destiny.

1 RispondiStill no confirmation but it has to be coming. I really hope they release one before the launch of the game that may tell a story set within the Golden Age at the height of the Traveler's influence on everyone. Maybe have it wrap with the Fall. I would like that because that's how the first Mass Effect book was. It made playing the game at launch that much more immersive knowing a bit more about the world that the game was taking place in. Question is though, would a Destiny novel pre-launch give too much away?
