For those of you who do not Nintendo has recently started issuing take down notices for videos featuring their games or have begun to take the ad revenue from these videos. What does this mean? It means if gamer's like Achievement Hunter create a lets play of themselves playing a Nintendo game, Nintendo will take all the money Achievement Hunter would have made off that video. Nintendo is essentially getting free advertising from these videos promoting their games and the way they are treating the people who make these videos is quite despicable.

1 RispondiHonestly? No. Because if Nintendo backs off now, they won't have learned a dam thing and would be doing it to just kowtow to peer pressure. They need to keep it up until all of their fans are gone and they finally learn their lesson.
-
1 RispondiTheBannedLemon's post is 100% accurate. Months before GTA V came out, Achievement Hunter started to pump out GTA 4 Let's Plays every week. I grew tired of the game already but once they started doing that I had the urge to play GTA 4 again with friends because of all of the stupid things they would do. There were a lot of other people that went back to play the game as well and even moved up a couple spots on the Xbox Live Activity charts.

1 RispondiThis exposure is arguably more effective than paid advertising. They're idiots.
-
They must hate free advertisement and promotion of their games.
-
6 RisposteWho gives a fck Nintendo is gonna be dead in 5 years anyway.
-
In my mind posting a video game is no different than posting a movie. Nintendo has every right to take down these videos.
-
I was under the impression that they would only issue a notice or cut in the ad revenue if of course the channel runner was monetizing the videos. As long as they aren't trying to make money off of it, there should be no problem.

4 RisposteNintendo is pretty out of it. Remember when they ordered a cease & desist to stop EVO from streaming Melee?
-
2 RisposteIt's pathetic. They get free advertising, the let's player isn't making billions of them and the whole copyright infringement bullshit is idiotic. The laws need to be updated or companies need to remove the stick from their ass and realise that they can end up selling far more games with a good let's player than they would with a few shitty trailers and banner ads.

Modificato da ChaosMetalMarty: 3/28/2014 10:05:37 PMNintendo hates making money exept from Microtrasactions and Stealing Youtuber's reveue. They are praciacaly blind to the way the gaming industry works

Modificato da ROFL Wolf1254: 3/29/2014 7:29:10 PMSimilar situation with AMC and The Walking Dead! A comic store that worked with my local movie theater has been showing The Walking Dead for free for the last 2 years and they offer Walking Dead snack packs to which all proceeds go to charity and you are entered into a raffle for a giveaway at the beginning of each episode. No profit is made, only profit to which the store receives customers from the showings! Last week AMC issued a cease and desist order for showing The Walking Dead, even though no money is made and it brings more people together. This sucks -__- and I can't imagine how upset the YouTubers are about Nintendo doing the same thing :/

19 RisposteModificato da Oddball: 3/29/2014 9:30:50 AMNintendo are getting desperate. We already know they're close to being bankrupt. Edit: I take back my reply.
-
That is just sad.
-
2 RisposteIt's their game though... They own the rights to the game so they don't want anyone taking their success and making money off it.
-
source?
-
Your right Nintendo is shit lately ad for the last few years they've been screwing Pokemon,Mario, and Zelda Let's play is about the only attention that they get right now and they really need attention
-
It's like the oven manufacturer suing the baker for selling a pie he made.
-
I thought they stopped that ages ago?
-
9 RisposteOh, no! Nintendo is suing people for using their product without their permission! The horror!

1 RispondiA lot of that work is pretty time-consuming to do as well, unfortunately it's still the same copyright nonsense that''s always going on
