I've been playing Halo 3 for almost a year now and I just realized I have gotten in the habit of muting any player on the other team simply to keep track of if I've played with them before in a later game. It is not like I unmute them when I see them again and reminisce about the days of yore but it is interesting how often I get a game now where at least one of the players is muted. Just goes to show that although 10s of thousands of people play this game you play people more than once, more than you think.
Does anyone else do this? or am I just crazy. Either way is fine by me and I realize most will just mute because of their 10 year old voice or annoying comments but I want to know who does this for the reason of keeping track of players you have played against.

I don't mute people for no reason because of the stupid mute ban they have.

Often times when you play with other players and they appear muted it's is due to network restrictions (see NAT type) and not because you've played with them.
Does anyone else do this?
Of course not, I would never mute anyone.

I don't mute people but I remember their names from like 5 games ago since my playlists barely go above 500
