You're willing to throw aware $400/$500 for a console with a tiny game library and most likely software and hardware issues.
Surely the better thing to to is to wait. Wait a few months for all the issues to be pointed out, for the game library to expand. Or even wait a year or maybe two for the price drop, issues to be ironed out and games to be released, then your purchase will be smart.
But buying a console at launch? You're literally volunteering to be the guinea pig, the test subject. The issues what may arise, you'll be subject to them. It's smarter to wait a while for issues to be pointed out, comparisons to be made so you can make a fully educated choice in what console you'll get, if any.

I'm wait ATLEAST a year before I get a next gen console. Gonna wait for better library, better exclusives, and possibly new hardware fixes.
-
I refuse to buy either until they add a VCR drive.
-
Maybe we like being a guinea pig? I'm not getting an Xbox One until Q1 seasonal year 2014

3 RisposteI ain't payin 600 to 700 dollars to buy one at launch. Normally 500, but because Canada, throw in another 100 bucks to the price. Throw in another 100 for the gas money to drive to the nearest city that sells them. Throw in 60-70 dollars for even ONE game, assuming I feel like buying the poor launch titles. Toss in the random factor for live, which for me, costs 100 dollars a year because my subscription is forced onto the god damn family pack. And these are just the costs I know about. God help me if there's other crap I don't know about. So let's see, here's my grand total if I wanted to be a fool and buy the one on launch day. 600 for console itself 100 for gas money 120 for two games(I ain't buying one game for a new console) 100 bucks for LIVE All adds up to 920 dollars. NINE HUNDRED AND TWENTY DOLLARS. For 920 bucks I could do a hell of a lot more such as repairing my truck, my motor home, pay off whatever I owe, and so on. Waiting game it is.

1 RispondiAt least they're being upfront about it...
-
3 RisposteI'm getting my X1 at Christmas, earliest. My 360 still has at least another year of life left in her. I've had it since 2009, and I can have it through 2014!
-
I have better things to spend my money on at this point in life.
-
I agree that is why I am waiting

5 RisposteSo OP if nobody buys the consoles on launch day then how are they going to sell future ones? When nobody buys them that kinda tells the developers they failed and most likely should stop production. And if nobody buys them on launch day then how are they going to get games? Why should developers be making games for a system that didn't sell?
You're willing to throw aware $400/$500 for a console with a tiny game library
So we should get a Wii U instead which is nothing, but a niche system? Unless you like their childish exclusives there's nothing about it that's worth getting. The thing has hardly any 3rd party support compared to current gen and it's going to be the same for next gen. I seen the games for the Wii U and right now they are sad and it still has hardly anything. They are either exclusives, childish games and very few adult games which most of them are already out. Very few of those games on the list are going to be new.
and most likely software.
Which is no different than getting a game on launch. They just have to release an update which fixes it.
hardware issues.
Then you just send the system to get fixed or replaced with a debugged model. When you look at the X1 you can tell MS is paranoid about the things having heating issues. More than half of the case has vents and the thing is larger than the normal 360. It's safe to say they did things to avoid a heating problem and any other problems.

I will.
-
nice piece of flamebait you got there fat man i see you've caught a few today
-
3 RisposteI'm probably just gonna wait. I'll take that next gen deal for ACIV but nothing really interests me besides that and I'm not dropping 500 dollars for one game. I'll wait until christmas.
-
4 RisposteModificato da nao: 10/28/2013 7:37:14 PMI'll be any kind of test subject they want me to be as long as I can play Shadow Fall. That plus the free to plays will hold me until next year. Easily worth $399 imo. So, even if you're not happy with my purchase: I will be.
-
But you need guinea pigs so they can pinpoint all the bugs for later improvement and then you can have a smoother console. :o
-
4 RisposteThrow away $900 plus $500 in games as I got both systems. Hey guys! New idea! Don't play in the Destiny Beta! You'll be a guinea pig! Don't buy GTA V! The online is buggy! Don't buy it! Oh wait...
-
4 Rispostetl;dr OP can't get next gen console so you shouldn't either. You're welcome. :)
-
Thanks Fat Man 3000. Will do Enjoy it.
-
And get the gimped games on the PS3/360? No thanks.
-
Definitely do NOT want to be Microsoft's lab rat. Prove to me that the hardware lasts first.
-
well my Wii U and gamecube did perfectly fine when i bought them at launch so im sure i will be fine.
-
4 RisposteI bought an Xbox 360 around the start, and I think I'm the only guy that didn't ring. Challenge accepted.
-
6 RisposteYeah. For me, at least, there aren't any good Launch Titles for either consoles (now that Watch_Dogs is delayed). Better to wait. And then, when MS releases the Xbox One Two Slim Elite, you can buy that. Or vise-versa with PS4.
-
Exactly. I'm waiting till atleast the start of the new year before I consider buying one.
-
Mad brah?
-
I have no problem with people getting their consoles day one. It's their money, after all.
-
21 RisposteIts not really your problem if they buy one at launch or not.
