- Unbelievably terrible Xbox One PR
- Halo 4 Population at ~11k(Generally less interest in Halo than ever before)
- Gears of War's running dry of milk
- Call of Duty: Ghosts has more pre-orders on PS4 than its Xbox One counterpart(despite being marketed largely as an Xbox One title)
- $499 vs $399
- Supposedly less horsepower than PS4
- Moronic Name
- Kinect integration with your NFL fantasy teams
- Pizza Hut App
How does a company, especially following the 360's success, derail so badly?
I don't mean to bash, rather, I simply just don't quite understand where Microsoft went wrong.
What do they have on Sony now?
Ryse(QTE button mashing action)?
Forza?
Killer Instinct?
Dead Rising 3 looks ace, but to justify a $500 console purchase? C'mon.
Titanfall's coming to PC, and given this is EA and EA goes where the money is, inevitably PS4.
Timed exclusivity just won't do it anymore. MS will need a better plan than getting the Call of Duty DLC first on their system.
In all honesty, what's left for the Xbox brand as a whole? Halo? Kinect 2? Please.

I already made a post in this thread but it was a long, written letter to the OP. But to clarify, because I don't believe people got the main points... -Everyone is forgetting that Xbox One isn't really being targeted for just the hardcore gamer. They are trying to get casuals, and even non-gamers. The people who buy CoD every year and Madden. Yeah, the Xbox One isn't popular amongst hardcore gamers, but amongst everyone else, yeah its gonna be popular. If people actually believe the Xbox One is going 'downhill' or is going to 'flop', I laugh at them. -Preorders are something a very small amount of people do, most of the sales from Xbox One and PS4 will be non-preordered units... even at launch time. Preorders, at their very best, only indicate interest in a console, and even at that its not really a very accurate representation. -Even if all Xbox had left was Halo and Kinect, they'd still be doing pretty damn good. Again, you have to remember that there are other people in this world than forum dwelling and YouTube comment dwelling and Disqus dwelling nerds who argue and bicker over nonsense. If the world was nothing but hardcore gamers, yes Xbox would be in a very bad spot. But fortunately the world isn't like that (cause if it was the human population would cease to increase) and the Xbox One is going to do fantastic. Anyone who thinks Xbox One is going to do poorly or bad... I feel sorry for you. Ignorance really must be bliss.

Xbox has a nice long road ahead of them. I'm sure it'll do fine.

I think the Xbox One will do alright and sustain itself in the years to come. Fanboys will get it right off the bat. I include myself as one of the fanboys that will be getting it right away. It's going to get a $100 price drop next holiday season so I'm sure even more will sell then. I honestly think the feature set will have people dropping money on the Xbox One. I know many say "I already have a cable provider, computer, etc..." but once people see Xbox One's at their friends houses doing the screen and screen and such that will be enough for them to heavily consider. It might not have a strong launch but It'll eventually get better sales for sure. It can't possibly go any worse than Wii U and the Wii U launch. Your point about Halo is right to an extent. Halo Reach did terrible towards the end of it's life cycle. Lots of players were lost and then Halo 4 released and it sold tons. Halo sells a bunch with campaign alone. People love the Chief and that's never going to change. He's Microsofts version of Mario. Their are a few things that can be done to get diehards to buy consoles. Even something as simple as a Gears of War 4 with traditional gears mp would sell a nice chunk of consoles. Microsoft knows what makes money and how to draw the crowds. Xbox One will be alright...

The X1 and PS4 are pretty similar, but I'm poised to jump ship merely because of the cost of the new Xbox - I don't really need to add more money on top of the already horrible Australian hardware prices.
-
3 RisposteWell look at this way the X1 and PS4 are largely the same. PS4 has power advantage The X1 has Better motion control and intergration with the Kinect TV (Something Sony is trying to do but can't get connections like MS has) Better exclusives timed or otherwise Better online service Better software pretty much guaranteed with it being Microsofts strongest strengths. The xbox is actually the better console if you ignore the better hardware of the PS4, the PR just backfired and the NSA thing which Microsoft is unable to defend itself against.

I'm almost glad 343 can't make good Halo games. That would've been the only way to tempt me.
-
-
It'll do just fine
-
You make a fair point OP
-
4 Rispostetake the 399vs 499 back its invalid. because we get more for that price
-
It's gone down hill.
-
Both will do fine. Nintendo on the other hand...
-
5 RisposteDead Rising 3 is also a TIMED exclusive. Soooo...
-
2 Risposte
- Supposedly less horsepower than PS4
Good job I don't want to drive anywhere with it.

2 RisposteModificato da Bitmazta: 10/11/2013 5:32:34 AMThe Xbox One is when Microsoft finally reveals their true colors. -blam!-s that do whatever it takes to take your money. Whether its changing things to assure more sales or cunningly sneaking in a few million dollars in payments.

Pizza hut app? Tell me more please.
-
Pizza Hut App
A Smash Burger app would be a better selling point.

The Xbox One will take a beating. That's going to be the reality for the next couple of years. Having said that this is a marathon and Microsoft can come swinging back. I'm skeptical of them being able to do what Sony did with the PS3 turn around but you never know.
-
What's left of the brand to me? Halo, and maybe Gears of War. The console will still do really well, but for someone like me who doesn't need an xbox to watch netflix, browse the internet, watch cable TV, and skype, if the [exclusive] games are not abundant and compelling then the box isn't really going to grab my attention.
-
9 RisposteProfit, lots of it to. Sony lost money on the ps3 btw.
-
HEY! The Pizza Hut app is AMAZING!
-
Killer Instinct looks amazing and I'm gonna buy an Xbox One just to play it(and Sunset Overdrive), but I'm not gonna buy an Xbox One until sometime next year.
-
1 RispondiI'm going to buy one, play games on it, and have a good time.
-
7 RisposteXbox One will do fine, just because you guys don't want one doesn't mean that no one wants one
