Don't get me excited. They think they are figuring out how to make photons do what they want. They did not trip over some spare parts and in the confusion a lightsaber was made.

I posted about this a few days ago. What they did was to get the photons to behave like matter. The challenge is to repeat this, with an eye to making shapes, and a way to store them when needed. Finally, it has to be hand held... Now, the article I read seemed to indicate that this would be a big deal for quantum communications.
