You do know how hard it is to live on your own right?
English
-
Not going to live on my own.
-
I shouldnt have said that. What I meant was, You do know how hard it is to live without the aid of your parents.
-
like I said I don't care. I'm tired of all the crap they give me
-
And what kind of "crap" is that....
-
well for one they don't trust me even though I have never done anything to break their trust. I have a 4.0 GPA yet I still get in trouble for it not being high enough. They treat me like I'm 12 and won't let me hangout with my friends because they think they are drug dealers. They won't let me get a job until I can drive, but they said they aren't giving me a car. Just stuff like that.
-
What the -blam!-? not letting you have a job 'till you can drive? are your parents the result of inbreeding or is it just sheer stupidity? my parents made me get a job when I was 13... dear god are your parents that over-protective of you? also, you're 17 for -blam!-'s sake, you can tell your parents to go suck off a cactus if you want and go get a job without their approval... you're allowed to do that when you're 17.
-
maybe where you live
-
dude, unless you're in africa you can do that to anyone you want... you just have to deal with the backlash and frankly your parents can't do shit about you getting a job... and you need that work experience during your teenage years to learn how the workplace works and what to do when you get out there... the only way they could possibly do anything is to beat you into submission... and then they'll lose you because of the laws. there is absolutely no way they can touch you without the law getting involved and they'll always be on your side because you're in the right.

You wouldn't be able to hold a job if you can't get there, can you? All parents treat their kids like that, you're no different then most other kids.

Modificato da Mega Blaziken: 2/10/2013 1:51:40 AMno, they don't he's 17 for -blam!-'s sake I had a job when I was 13, 13! it wasn't even legal for me to have a job but they made me do it! and everyone I knew had jobs by 15. you're talking out of your ass, and your ass is as smart as a brick wall.
-
Where the hell do you live where everyone had a job at 15? You can't get hired around my area until 16, and even then most places prefer 18 now. Add in the crap economy and all you see are jobs at McDonalds. As far as I know its illegal to employee 13 year olds in the US, so obviously you were working "off the books." Also read all my posts before you reply to one... I'm referring to parents wanting to "control" their kid's lives. Every parent I've ever met doesn't like their kids hanging out with some people, or leaving the house after a certain time. The whole job thing is a little weird, but as I said he should enjoy not having to work.
-
It's the wonderful country known as Canada, and it is illegal to hire under 14 here, it's just I was doing farm work and apparently that's fine here. and no, I don't want to do any pointless reading... it's useless because you're just going to tell me of it.
-
I'm 17!!!! and all of my friends have jobs and cars!
-
You sound like the type of person who won't even have a conversation with them about these issues and when you do, just start yelling at them. Try having a calm conversation with them about the issues you have. Explain everything you've said here to us to them without "freaking out." I had the same problems you're having a few years ago but realized what was going to happen farther down the line and realized parents really do have their kid's best interests at heart and are trying to protect them. Just remind them that you are almost an adult and you would like to be treated as an almost-adult.
-
LOL you really think most kids are given cars? Or they just drive their parent's car or share with another sibling. I'm just saying, if you can't drive then trying to get a job is pointless unless you live close enough to walk or ride a bike. If you get a job, but have no method of getting there outside of getting a ride from your parents then it becomes a problem for them. You should enjoy the luxury of not having to work...
-
I want to earn money
-
Lol my dad says I can't get a car until I get a job.
-
No he shouldn't. The sooner he gets a job the better off he is.
-
Well my parents were the opposite and told me to get a job and harassed me when I didn't have one so I agree. But still, if his parents don't want him to work then he might as well enjoy it for another year. Work + school sucks.
-
I agree but still I wish I had a job when I was his age but I didn't. Also the factors that go into getting a job, place, or getting closer to one's parents can be hard if no one helps along the way. Doing it solo is a pain in the ass and can get depressing but the sooner someone gets into the real world the better.
-
Getting a job isn't really living in the "real world" if he still lives at home with his parents paying for everything. When you start paying for rent, utilities, food, and car/school payments then you realize how much you missed living under mommy and daddy's roof. Which is why I've been saying he should enjoy the last couple of years he has left of "being a kid."

There are pluses but living with your parents is definetely a downer. You're right, getting a job isn't exactly living in the real world but it's part one of his step to it.
