It wasn’t. At least for me, the build mechanics are way better now with much more options.
Honesty people obsess about the power level grind and higher tier but I think pass 200 it becomes a bit of a fools errand. I’m 250 and I’ve ran Master solo ops at -50, Kepler Mythic... And we’re just 3 weeks in.
Sure higher tier is always gonna be better but I don’t feel like my current build or gear tier is getting in the way of fun. Especially when Bungie will have done some tweaking to the grind, which is lame rn, I think it will be much better than pre EoF era. (Plus Star Wars in December :))

They made the game messy but you all like it cause theu gave you the "feeling" of extra customization? Theu could have simply gave is all these new stats to make the game better but instead they took most of it away and made us choose witch do we want to boost wile safrificing the rest. Gave us the illusion of control, made it look complicated and slaped a red bow on it, it is still trash.

I did not say it was perfect, but he new armor and stats system is better for build crafting, which is at the heart of D2 gameplay.

How? Now, whatever you don't have at a 100% is underperforming, be it your ult, your melee, grenade. All these things used to be ok, now you get to choose wich ones are weak and wich ones are decent. They made us all weaker and gave us the choice to customize what weakness we keep and wich ones we lose, but no matter what, there will be weaknesses you can't fix.

As I said it’s all about the build, and stats needs only 70 to be like pre EoF. But for a concrete example, Prismatic Titan with consecration. I have a build with 165 Melee and 150 Super. So +16% melee dmg and +20% super damage, and they both regen faster. So for this build I don’t need weapon stats ir grenade, you spam melee which give you your super even faster, and does more damage. Rinse and repeat.
