"The Grind" refers to:
- the journey, which is to say both the personal challenge in reaching your intended goal (e.g., collecting the loot, reaching #1 in PvP), and the simple satisfaction in doing so (i.e., the experience, but not to be confused with "the feel")
- both the chase or randomness ("RNG") of obtaining your ideal weapon roll or armour stat distribution, for example, and the renown the accompanies it.
- completing in-game achievements, such as Triumphs and Titles.
Renown: the perceived 'status' or 'bragging rights' that come with being '1 in a Million' who has [insert X here], or in being the world's 1st to [X] ..., or reaching the 'top 10%' of [X]... etc.
"The Feel" refers to:
- how your weapons feel
- how it feels to move around the game with your character (e.g., jump/glide, punch, sword skate, sparrow fly)
- the animations, such as reloading weapons, using abilities, explosions, etc.
- how you feel in response to something in the game (e.g., excited, scared, uplifted, sad, etc.)
"The Lore" refers to:
- the story
- the story behind the story
- how we fit into the story
Note: if you have better descriptors for "the grind," "the feel," or "the lore," please share.

It appears "the grind" isn't as popular a reason for playing Destiny 2 as others like to hype up.
-
The feel, especially PvP, yeah the game sucks but the movement and gunplay there’s no others like it.
-
2 RisposteI would like to add a fourth option. Nostalgic for the Bungie vault.
-
2 RisposteI play for the feel... sometimes the difficulty. Never the grind! If anything, when the game gets too grindy, I stop playing those activities. I play what I enjoy, for the content, not for the reward.

The games fun to play

3 RisposteA little of all 3. I have two raid seals left to complete. Just subclass stuff & two static challenges. I have several i never bothered to do in garden of salvation. The lore is extensive. Sometimes I just smoke & read some lore tabs. Imo there isnt any first person shooter that feels as good as d2. Cherry on top is having met some chill people over the last 5 years or so. We link up in a party chat even if we aren't playing d2

The grind. I keep playing scrimms so that I can eventually play in tourneys and be as good as sayariu
-
22 RisposteBeing a lore scholar I wish I could say lore… But the main reason I played was patrol and my friends
-
In the beginning of Destiny 1 and early in Destiny 2 it was all three. As the story progressed in ways I wasn’t very interested in that changed to grind and feel. As I found the grind become disheartening that later changed to just the feel. More recently it’s moved to pretty much just nostalgia.

During D1 it was all three. I stopped caring about lore after beyond light and the grind during Into The Light. Now the only reason I'm still playing is to help people with raids. While I have met some real filth in destiny I've also met lots of wonderful people. Sadly there's fewer and fewer players looking to learn and nobody wants Divinity due to the nerfs. It's almost time to leave too.
-
A good clan that makes stuff like raids I've done a dozen times still fun.
-
2 RisposteBoth the feel & the grind. It's an easy time sink, somewhat cheap for people who play a LOT - not so much people who don't.
-
3 Rispostetbf all 3, even if the grind in the last 2 year was super small thanks to the game getting casual, can't wait next season to see what builds will get good ( with the enhanced stats) and starting some good grind again
-
2 RisposteAll 3 for me too. 😇👍💠 I was a big fan of Arena shooters, then Golden Eye... Perfect Dark... I always wanted a rpg FPS game. There's still nothing like it, imo.

1 RispondiWhy can’t it be all three. As it stands, I enjoy the Grind, the way the game feels, and the story behind it, despite all their issues. Destiny is my game for all intents and purposes.
