You mean to say, “this is a huge slap in the face to the CASUAL Playerbase.”
What exactly are you expecting here, realistically? Bungie to release Seasons capable of keeping players going through story content for WEEKS? That’s not feasible.
You know what DOES work? Making meaningful loot RARE. That keeps people logging in, chasing that carrot.
You know what DOES NOT work? Making meaningful loot so easily obtainable that it makes it meaningless. I shouldn’t be swimming in Red Border drops by repeatedly turning in Engrams in a menu.
Does 2x reward weeks excite you? Or do you say, “who cares I already have a million of those I just dismantle them anyways.”
Almost every loot drop in this game should feel meaningful and the only way that’ll happen is if Bungie STOPS handing everything over so easily to those who cry about not wanting to put in any effort. It’s seriously mind boggling that casual players don’t understand they feel like they have nothing to do because everything is just too easily handed to them.

"making meaningful loot rare' that ship sailed long ago. Theres very little they can realistically do with loot without power creeping it, followed by a nerf when the next toy is ready. Everyone has a vault full of crap, making anything worthwhile might get the self proclaimed hardcore all starry eyed but they aren't the masses. The game needs to be fun, they'd do far better to update the core activites each season. If the game isn't enjoyable the loots irrelevent.
-
This is also true. They need to innovate and make things feel fresh as often as they’re able to. But aside from that, they can freshen up activities and playlists and that’ll only go so far. Activities get stale after a certain amount of time. That’s not enough to keep people playing the game for an extended period of time.

These 2 points seem to be the exact points bunige wants to tackle in frontiers. Loot is being made tier based to represent the challenge required for the reward received, and the 4 free content drops seem geared towards replayability and fresh loot. The execution will matter more than their words, but this already seems to be the plan.

But there is very little 'meaningful loot' and as soon as it is discovered to be meaningful it gets nerfed.

Exactly my point. The game itself needs to be expanded in a way where something else becomes more valuable than a power creeped weapon. Something else needs to be introduced to the game to chase after.
