This is NORMAL (so calm down)

Everytime we reach the last third or so of a season the community starts to lose their -blam!- about how the game has died and bungie has turned to -blam!-. Realistically this has been the way of things since the beginning of the franchise yet everyone acts like its the end of the world. We blame the seasonal model yet content droughts were significantly worse when we had dlcs. Warmind is a perfect example of where a story is released and gets blitzed through in the first day. Then the rest of the dlc content gets obliterated before we are stuck twiddling out thumbs until the next trailer comes out. I think that unless you are genuinely hooked on destiny for the GAMEPLAY and not the hamster wheel of grinding new content this problem doesnt affect you as much. But when the value of the game is equated to ‘new gun, me play’, when new gun is not out yet the community loses their minds. It happened last season, it happened after witch queen despite that being an expansion (and a season!) and it happened in year 1. Yes we want bungie to improve and give us the best that they can but outside of seasonal/in game content they have delivered some good stuff in terms of QOL and balance changes, and we know theres a ton more next season. I dont see how we will ever be satisfied, this is just the issue that comes with the community of a live service game. We can get a ‘season of core activities’ but if the content inside is equal to that of seasons then it will be played through just the same and we will be back to square one. I dont want to be cliche but if you feel as though theres nothing to do and you arent playing for fun then don’t. **Taking a break is one of the healthiest things you can do if you dont feel healthy playing this game.** When I look at other games such as god of war, we say how great they are, but once the story is complete its generally over and you stop playing. If destiny as a live service model can keep us going for as long as it does after the main story is complete then it must be doing something well to be a consistently popular game regardless of dropping numbers and the end of a middling season. Ill be waiting for the un-cancelling of those preorders when s19 gets a creamy trailer with black armory weapons or some -blam!-.

        • CoD and Apex don't lose that much of their playerbases as D2 does. Neither does GTA Online for that matter, and that game originally launched on the PS3 and Xbox 360... In fact, D2 has 32k Steam users right now, and GTA has 123k. Ouch!

              • So what you’re saying is that we should be happy to pay twice more than we used to every year, for less content, less pvp maps, less strikes, less destinations… But 10x more mono-cell hamstering grind and overall more dry months than we used to without the seasonal model? You’re also into comparing apples and oranges huh!? Sure buddy. Can you put me in charge of your asset management? I would love to have more clients like you.

They are emotional brings that recently evolved the capacity for thought. Point? People are going to complain whenever something doesn’t feel good, or they don’t like it. Regardless of whether it is reasonable, or if it’s temporary. Emotion is driving the bus here, and trying to reason with those who are being emotional will: A. Be a complete waste of your time, and B. Will only make them even madder, and even more emotional.

                  • This season is the one that made me quit Destiny. It’s not just destiny, there’s a lot more factors that pulled me away. Mainly though, Destiny is just the same. It’s a hamster wheel, making you run and run and run. Looking back, almost all of my time was just grinding for the next best thing, the next best weapon, the coolest gear. It was fun for a time, but after 3 years, you look back at your progress, and it almost means nothing. I cherish the good times, doing GMs with friends, raids, dungeons, and so much more. There was a ton of fun I had, but the game progresses so much in so short a time, I was not able to play anything else seriously. What really made this bigger was when I started playing Elden Ring. 100 hours in, and I was still having so much fun and I had a feeling that I have not have not felt in destiny for a very long time. A really natural feeling of joy and adventure. I wasn’t just put in new boxes to shoot the same enemies for slightly different weapons to use to shoot more enemies to get more loot. And that’s part of the problem. Eventually, there are so many weapons that fade in and out of existence. Remember trophy hunter? One of my favorites, but there have been so many favorites. I could list dozens of weapons that were fun, but have faded out for new things. It’s exhausting always following this cycle. The biggest thing though, was the complete lack of change. Like I said before, the gameplay always feels the same now. Always just in a box shooting the same enemies with varying difficulty. For 4 years, it gets very old. The gun feeling is the best I’ve ever felt, but it can’t make up for this. When it’s so good, but still blends together, it just got old. There is little to no variation, but even that does not matter, since after so long doing it, it is very old. I really do urge anyone that reads this, to go play another good game. Even for a day, see how you feel when you play it. I thing so many people are stuck in this loop, and don’t know that there is a way out

                    • Receiving an update that led into a secret event and that """"""event"""""" culminating to a t-shirt is not normal. They knew what they were doing. They could not monetize the event, or couldn't think of a way to, so they scrapped all in-game plans and decided to make a shirt instead. It is predatory business practice. There has been no update to the seasonal model. There has been no news on any ARG/secret mission/secret quest in the past NINE HUNDRED days. There are a cavalcade myriad of issues in Crucible including but not limited to small map sizes, balance, the lack of a lobby system, too few maps in the pool, etc. The reason they gave for not wanting to do an ARG or whatever was a cop out. They sold out, all their talent moced on, and they don't give a -blam!- about the game or it's integrity anymore. It is time to move on.

                      • Keep waiting. The problem isn't seasons entirely. It's the fact the core gameplay loop hasn't received anything to sustain it and keep it engaging. The hamster wheel is covered in dust and breakages. But the person taking care of that wheel just keeps adding more matchsticks instead of replacing the wheel. Playing for the gameplay? When that gameplay has got worse with time.....yeah alright. Let me know how long Lightfall keeps you entertained until you go back to the same ol' gameplay loop that hasn't changed since release. Bungie can make a turd look good but a turd is still a turd.

Season of the Lost was the longest season we’ve had in destiny 2 history, Arrivals before that, there were way more players at that time bc pvp was semi-balanced with a few exceptions like Lorentz, and Mountain Top. But even that it wasn’t the balanced part: it was the fact that it was fun, with aggressive playstyles, and few penalties. A game mode that’s fun is a lot better then a game mode that’s “balanced” but is no fun Since pvp is really the only replayable activity if you grind the sh#t out of pve. So, since pvp is honestly in the worst state it’s EVER been in, the population is like “f#ck that” and goes to a more popular pvp game.

                        • Ketchcrash is good, but kingsfall saved this season from total disaster. The story was so laughably poor that whoever approved this should be demoted. Expedition was another poorly thought out activity that wasn't ready for prime time. The weapons and ability tuning was a big plus too this season, but somehow it felt like overall it wasn't their best work.

                        • "I'll wait for the un--canceling of those pre-orders when they show us cool things we asked for" Yeah, really stepping out on a limb with that one. We all know that a DLC brings lots of cool things. Many times things we asked for. Most times with things we didn't as well, but that's the gamble. Come down off the horse and realize there's problems with the game that a story DLC and some re-issued guns won't fix, even if it brings players back for a month.

                          • Bungie and Destiny is absolute trash. Has been, and won’t change. I wish they would end this game for good. You could add another season in the game right now, and it would still be more of the same lazy reskined, recycled, reused, boring horde mode garbage. Destiny = same recycled trash, with useless; bounties, sparrows, ghosts, emotes, finishers, ornaments, shaders, triumphs, and seals.

                          • I think the difference here is that this season was objectively bad. The lack of any quests or anything outside of the seasonal story really killed this season's potential, and FotL was literally a copy/paste from last year (including the same bugs/issues). Haunted wasn't amazing, but I think most people liked the combination of the Leviathan & the fresh weekly story missions more than Expedition and Hideouts. Ketchcrash is cool, but just kinda bland. I will say, it doesn't help that this was the longest season of the year. This season was ~2.5 weeks longer than the previous two, so that adds to the drag. The next season is the shortest of the year though -- barring a delay of Lightfall's release, it'll be a week shorter than Haunted or Risen.

                            • But the problem is the last 3 seasons have been mediocre at best, and pure trash at worst, even witch queen was just a filler filled story and Wellspring, Do you know what saved Destiny 2 after the warmind dark age, the Whisper mission, my phone lit up while I was at a family event from my friends all trying to tell me spindle was back , from that second all I could think about was getting on and running it, it created a much needed buzz in the community and they could have done the same thing now with a new or returning weapon , But Bungie flat out said no more exotic missions So all we have left with is ranking up seasonal Mcguffins and watching a 20 minute story 3 minutes per week there is no hope things will change, and even the addicts are not interested anymore , I haven't seen the game this bad since Vanilla honestly, something big needs to happen

Trials atm has 118,000 total players. As we speak, roughly 3000 active (split between console and pc) So generally speaking something like 1200 pc players and 1800 console players. Trials is dead. The rest of the game is severely hurting. Pvp has been ruined by bungie catering to the casual gamer who leaves 1 week after playing. And pve is even hurting too.

                              • There's a thing called "Replay Value" it's something during my time that meant how many times could you replay and it wouldn't get old or Stale. *= Rant Tone *Destiny 2 has a Low Replay Value. God War, LOU, Uncharted, Tomb Raider, Plague Tale Requiem+Innocence as examples have High Replay Values. So no matter how many times you play it, it always feels Fresh. For far to long Destiny 2 's Replay Value has been going down and down. That's not good for a Live Service. They make bomber Seasons like Arrivals, Black Armory, Opulence, Dawn, Splicer. They need to keep up the momentum with every passing season. But no, we get CoO, Worthy, Plunder. That hinders Player Retention. Players like me are sick and tired of this Bull ####. I'm forking over 100$ a year just to be given 💩 in return. It's unacceptable. The PVP change this Season was a bad move. They pulled this in Red War and it nearly gutted the game and capsized Bungies 10 Year plan. They then have the Ball's to raise the middle finger to their PVP'ers and gut the only Casual PVP mode that is a constant. Clash should be a permanent CBMM mode by now. Comp needs a Revive like 2 Years ago. Trials needs to be flushed out more. And they need to stop making CONTROL A SBMM PLAYLIST!!!!! They had this Gold in D1, and they produce kick @$$ Seasons like Risen, Haunted, Black Amory, Opulence ect.* Taking a break won't save Bungie this time. They need to realize that they got ahead of a trend. My Ceramic teacher back then told me, "a True artist doesn't do what others do, they look to the future and bring the future to the present. That is then their work of Art". There's Studio after studio trying to replicate what Bungie started. And sooner or later, ones going to crack the code, and improve what Bungie started, and then they'll try to replicate what others make. They're taking us for granted. This is what happened to the Older PVP'ers, and they left, for years. At the time I didn't pay attention due to Working and college. Now though, I know how they felt. We want this game to succeed, but Bungies making it harder to get to that outcome. That's why I'm on the border of asking for a Refund. S19..... better wow me, if not, I'm gone and I won't comeback. I won't be the only one. To Bungie, WOW ME. #S19MAKEorBREAK

The problem with destiny 2 is honestly the game has no sense of progression in a difficulty standpoint all you need is two thumbs and a brain and you can pretty much take everything on with no issue. All core playlists both pve & pvp haven't been touched wheres the replay value strikes have no specific loot attached to them or set pieces that make them special, PvP has basically no maps. Gambit has been dead since the removal of gambit prime and lack of any QoL updates. Sure is there stuff to do yeah a wide variety but none of it has meaning. When you saw someone with LH or NF you knew they put the work in to get it and while titles are the pve equivalent they fall short because its just chores to make a specific task more of a pia than done normally. The seasons are mediocre and the stories are so disjointed worse than monster of the week tv shows they all boil down to omg this person did something not "good" in their past or has association with someone else that is bad and they must redeem themselves. Not to mention the gameplay loop for each season is progressively more grind for the sake of it with little reward.
