Hello I just want to share my words and thoughts. Feel free to comment your thoughts.
Let´s start with this season, the activities and story.
This season feels.... underwhelming. I don´t know why, because there is quite some stuff to grind for. But actually that´s also part of the problem. More to that later. Bungie teasert us with big words, something like "Season 17 will blow your mind" And that did not happen. Not at all. The seasonal activity is basically the entrance encounter of the leviathan raid with scorn in open world. It´s fine for the beginning of a raid, it´s fine to add something to the story... But let´s be honest; the story behind this activity is lame. It´s just something something with nightmares of enemys we already farmed till we quit for a week. And on top of that we have run this over and over and over again, till we eventually have enough deepsight weapons.
the weekly seasonal quest
This actually is quite good. The locations are.... well recycled. But that´s not so bad, because the story behind is interesting and good (finally we get some background lore about Zavalla! I´ve waited years for that to happen.) And also we do not need to grind the hell out of it, that´s a big bonus. For me at least.
the new dungeon
The story of the dungeon is really good. I really enjoy to listen to the lore. But that´s only a small part of this whole activity, isn´t it? Also keep in mind, if you do not have the digital deluxe edition, you need to buy it for 2000 silber. So Bungie values this dungeon with 20$. Is it worth this much? Absolutly not. I can understand that people do like this dungeon, because it is challenging and challenging stuff is fun. But why is it so challenging? Because you drown in enemies and the boss is heavily time gated. That´s even worse than champion spams, which also happens in the master difficulty.
(In my opinion) this dungeon is the worst of all dungeons. The location and atmosphere is really nothing special. Not overwhelming, not to much to explore. The mechanics are simple and nothing we haven´t seen yet, you repeat this in every encounter while you fight more and more enemies. The further you go into the dungeon, it just gets more stressful... When I compare that to the prophecy dungeon (for example), which was part of the season pass, Duality is a big downgrade. But at least the loot is really good.
That´s it for the season, so far.
But now comes a problem I have. You pay 10$ for the seasonal stuff (and season pass) But what kind of seasonal stuff do you get? The seasonal activity is free to play and the dungeon costs extra. So for the 10 bucks you get the seasonal quest, which is done in 10 minutes/ per week. That´s not much. I really hope there comes more. It needs to.
So this season is wrapped up, let´s speak about the seasonal systeme.
It sucks. The seasonal stories are good! But they are chopped up in tiny pieces and the story chopped up in tiny pieces is bad. Also I need to do the seasonal activity once again every week, which I have already done so often, that I want to (...) myself... That´s a downer, every week.
weapon crafting
the possibility of weapon crafting is cool, but what is not cool? The amound of grind needed for that. Needing deepsight weapons, fine. 5 times? okay. 0.000001% chance of a deepsight weapon to drop? And then it´s not the one you need/the one you already finished? To hell with weapon crafting. Don´t need it then.
Iron Banner and PvP in general
Iron Banner was just a big yikes with many major bugs. Spark dissapearing , spark landing outside the map, repeating resetts over and over again... And on top of that comes the state of PvP. Which I won´t discuss, because I haven´t played to much PvP this season. But I can tell; PvP lost its enjoyability somewhere after beyond light launch. PvP Season 11 was so fun! Woke up in the morning, started matchmaking, fell to bed heavily tired at late night. No regretts, because I had fun. Now I play 3 matches... and don´t touch PvP again for this week. No regretts, because it´s not fun.
Actually I wanted to write more, but I´m running out of time. Thanks for reading, just wanted to share my words. What are your thoughts?

Modificato da michael: 6/23/2022 1:45:47 AMThis season's activity (containment) is the first one I have enjoyed in a while. Lots of enemies coming at you fast without you having to move around a whole lot is pretty fun and makes grinding go by fast. My one big problem is the loot, red borders (which is realistically what everyone is there for) drop so infrequently from the activity itself. When I grinded out my 5 beloveds for the pattern I got ONE from containment and technically it wasnt even from containment it was from an opulent chest. The other 4 were from first of the week focuses and lucky opulent umbrals. So really the best reward from containment is the umbral energy that allows you to go get the REAL rewards at the helm, which is pretty lame imo. Every day I yearn for them to bring back the black armory frames and the menagerie chalice. The two most player friendly, enjoyable to grind out methods of acquiring the seasonal weapons that have ever been designed. No time wasted doing an activity just to not get the drop you wanted, every single time you did it you AT LEAST got the gun, the RNG was the perks on it, but at least it removed one huge layer of RNG. Now we have crafting so perks dont really matter, but the RNG comes in two layers: 1. getting the gun and 2. getting it with a red border. with 8 new weapons in the pool and 5 armour pieces, there is a 1 in 13 chance of getting the gun you want. And then the odds of getting it with a red border are what, 1 in 3? 1 in 5? Do some quick math and you realize that the odds are unrealistically against you. This is what made the chalice and the frames fun to grind... you at least always got the gun.

4 RisposteThe dungeon is not part of the season. People need to realize this. This current season is one of the worst seasons we have had. It is right there with Season of the Worthy. It's a public event season, and there's literally nothing to do. If the dungeon was apart of it like it should be, without costing extra (which makes no sense) then this season would have been decent. But since the dungeon is separate and costs extra, this season is as bad as Worthy. Worthy at least had public events on different planets, meanwhile the leviathan is the same thing over and over and never changes. Worthy also added Legendary Lost sectors, which is more than this season. This season is missing an activity. It should 100% have a 6 player activity going on right now, or something like the Shattered Realm, or a secret mission like Whisper popping up. I can't even play it right now. To sit there grinding some public event on Leviathan for a new season is so mind numbing I am not even going to do it. I don't care anymore. That is not a game I want to play.

KNew we were in for a bad time prior to release… the bdf we’re going all out defending every post that voiced concern

13 RisposteNot gonna address all this stuff as I knew exactly what overly-negative stuff you were going to say before I even clicked on this.....but anyone complaining about one-time payments of $10 or $20 for this much content in a game - hasn't played many other games I don't think.

7 RisposteModificato da itzJuztThomas: 6/21/2022 4:11:13 PMThe story in this game is so disjointed and seemingly unconnected it's baffling, 3 seasons ago Saint was proclaiming 'YOU ARE MY PEOPLE' the eliksni never mentioned since, last season all about Savathun, not a peep this season. Osiris missing, nah it'll be alright, There's no investment in previous actions, it's just tick box it and onto the next one. The only thing that seems to carry over is Crow, and he may be the worst character in the entire game. Destiny reminds me of all those iconic US TV series that start off with a great premise, then the writers are told 'hey we need to keep this -blam!- going for another 6 seasons' and nothing makes sense after, and Idgaf about lore entries, if I wanted to read stuff instead of shoot stuff I'd be sitting in a library not my game room.
-
12 RisposteWhat I find humorous. People at bungie were excited for this season bc they thought it was going to be great. Let that register for a moment. This is one of the most boring seasons in destiny. That does not give us much hope if this is what excites developers.

Modificato da SpoonieEzMode: 6/22/2022 9:13:21 AMExceptionally thoughtful post, and feels true. I'm new here, but I've been gaming for (cough) Some Time /old. I remember when games used to pay people to beta test (which I used to do), and I watched as beta testing went from paid, to sign up for free to "anyone who pre-orders a game is now beta-testing an unfinished game" (the current business model). What this current expansion/season feels like is a company beta-testing something they intend on putting into a new game, shoehorned into a current game to test how people would feel about the mechanics. It's not just beta-testing something that feels unfinished; it feels like it isn't really a part of the game in the first place. Why tweak a game this old in such a strange way? Why not focus on fixing the numerous bugs and add some things fans have been asking about for years? I know the elephant in the room (whether anyone wants to admit it or not) is it's probably hard to keep churning things out in a pandemic if you have people with a new chronic illness that makes concentration hard - because, yes, that's a thing, long covid is ruining many a career right now. I suspect there just aren't enough hands on deck to get things done quickly or well right now, and that's an industry wide problem atm. But after so many years doing this gaming thing, I was shocked at how many bugs this season seems to have...and how few are being fixed in a timely manner, all to focus on instead some sweeping mechanics changes that seems to break the builds people have been using for years. To me, that's because the focus is on something else entirely.
-
As far as I'm concerned Solar 3.0 can -blam!- all the way off back to the pit of mediocrity it crawled out of.
-
3 RisposteI've already decided that after this year (( because I bought the deluxe edition of WQ so I've already paid for each season,)) I'm quitting Destiny. Truth be told, I'm tired of the constant fomo, lack of focus and care in regard to the pvp experience, and the continued re-hashing of content being sold as "new." Tons of re-used assets this season -- all the leviathan locations, majority of the weapons, event mechanics, the scythes attacks just uses the animations for a wave frame solar grenade launcher and solar casting swords -- solar titan slam ability also uses the solar wave grenade launcher animation and the fist of havoc slam -- we have mini ghalrans in duality, and nightmare caitl has what for animations? A standard gunshot and a stomp..all rehashed save for the enemy skin. I can't voice this enough -- Bungie is nickel and diming the community while selling them content they've already played..and it isn't the first time. They honestly almost never come up with " new" content, it's always a lot of re-used assets..and I'm tired of it. So, I quit. There's a lot of games out there and the honest to god truth is that they are often far more enjoyable than destiny. A good portion of the community is unaware because they're addicted -- but if they actually put destiny down for a few and ventured out to other games, they'd see for themselves..I've been playing for seven years and some change myself, and after taking a bit of a break not that long ago and playing some other titles, I realized just how shitty D2 actually is.
-
How about the succinct version. - the game is garbage and just a perpetual hamster wheel of recycled trash.
-
TLDR: basically u don’t really like much in this game but you keep playing because you can’t miss out on new destiny content even though deep down you really know you aren’t going to like any of it anyway.
-
the story is Nice although at times hillariously stereotypical and nonsensical but those are minor issues.. one of the biggest issue is that bungie still has no way to ensure a NORMAL fireteam for core activities like the dungeon.. its frustrating to see that after two weeks most of the entries are master and challenge requests when all you wanna do is run that dungeon normally .. for soloing this is way too convoluted for me.. (esoterrikk and GLadd might disagree but then i am also not playing tennis against andre agassi or boxing against Klitschko) and trying to find a fireteam that doesnt speedrun the dungeon without any mic or coordination or doing master or challenges is brutal.. having a NORMAL team doing a NORMAL duality run should be the overwhelming norm but here its the tiny exception and now and then you might find a group that isnt speedrunning the normal mode but its far and between.. and before the Gitgudder compulsatory barf their "but you can make your own fireteam" , i can, i know but then i normally do not get the average players that knows which end of then gun makes the noise. so either i am stuck with elitists or sub par players.. weee, way to go.

The weekly severs are good: Novel if short gameplay, locations are good, added story all great. Leviathan entrance is good. Doesn't matter too much if it's recycling as it's a new explorable, inhabited location. For a season and not an expansion it's pretty good. It lost its shine because of the truly excessive grind first to level up the Crown, then get more red items. Crafting, awesome in idea and progress. But the drop rates and x5 requirements even BEFORE you talk of levelling it up 16 ranks was truly excessive. They're far too stubborn, cautious or slow to react to make needed changes here. Dungeons in concept need to keep up with progress: in game matchmaking and Legendary Campaign style difficulty levelling. Interesting Managerie take, boring and tedious gameplay. Rift: half-baked and bug ridden. ... Good thoughts and provocation poster.
-
I feel that Bungie has pretty much set in stone that this is how each season and expansion is going to play out. Mind you, this is just an opinion but my intuition feels that this is the best of what we're going to get. Great campaign, void 3.0 was fun, solar was meh with my warlock, we'll see with arc, and this new season is no different than any other (same model/format). The whole engine needs a massive overhaul. Bungie needs fresh new talent. Right now, it's pretty underwhelming and lazy. Maybe Sony can help with more funding. Anyway, I'm setting the bar low with Lightfall and beyond. A shame too, the potential is there but you can't defend mediocrity. I got the deluxe edition so I might as well play it out to the end. Cheers.

2 RisposteAs a longtime casual player that never minded the grind, my Season Pass at level 62 says it all. It'll be a struggle to hit a 100 when you don't even want to turn it on most days.
-
6 RisposteAnd this is why bungie waited to release a trailer for the lack lustre content we where given
-
3 RisposteJust a small correction, the Dungeon Key for 2000 silver is for both Duality and the S19 Dungeon. Otherwise, I don't see your post as a bad take. I'm not very enthralled by anything other than story this season, and it does feel like a downgrade compared to seasons 13-15 in most aspects. Most of my enjoyment has been trying to get Heartshadow, finishing getting my crafted raid weapons, and going back into older raids and dungeons with the weekly rotator. The season should feel like it's better because we got an entire patrol space, but it's not that large and it's somewhere we've been in the last two years. I feel like if they brought back a destination, it should have been somewhere on Mars and set the story there since that was the planet that re-emerged in WQ. I don't know what that story would look like, but I'd take that over the Leviathan any day. Solar 3.0 is great, but when Classy Restoration goes away, so will a lot of the hype and it won't be nearly as good. I almost feel like they should have made Classy a Fragment, but that would probably have unintended consequences, even if I can't list any off the top of my head. I do enjoy the Dungeon mostly, but it is probably the least enjoyable for me out of all of them. Caiatl is just such an unforgiving boss and getting solo flawless was more miserable than fun. Iron Banner was a fun experience for me just because I really like Rift, but the bugs definitely brought the experience down. Crafting still needs some big help. I don't mind the red border system for needing to unlock the blueprint, but crafted weapons take WAY too long to level up and I don't enjoy having to use a crap roll in order to make it better. I get the idea behind it, but maybe instead, have the ENHANCED perks be unlocked via leveling, and let players choose whatever normal perks they want? That way, you're still upgrading your gun, but it doesn't feel as miserable. Also, once you buy a perk on a gun, allow us to swap back and forth without needing to waste materials. Plz and thx. Overall, I'll still be playing on Tuesdays, grind on weekends and I'll play Solstice whenever that drops, but I'm not rushing to jump on the game as soon as I can.
-
Agree 100%. Was looking forward to the season with all the hype coming from the devs, "hitting it out of the park" and all that. But it's actually one of the worst seasons I can remember - and quite buggy on top of that. They under-delivered, for sure. Very disappointing.
-
This critique is entirely accurate in every way. The decline in quality of this game is why I've gone from fully leveling three Guardians as I used to do until several seasons ago to barely maintaining one now. It's also why my clan is basically just me now. Destiny 2 is still a good game to casually check in on once a week, but not worth spending lots of time on. Play the story mission, do a few side challenges, etc for a couple of hours and then put it aside until next week. As to whether it's still worth the money, I'd say yes, but barely. I don't buy things in the Eververse store but the new seasons and expansions add up to about $80 per year and I still get about 100 hours of play with it. Because it's an ongoing game the return on investment (ROI) is still tolerable. So for me I keep playing with my eyes wide open about what I'm getting with hope, but no real expectation, that it will get a lot better.
-
The dungeon isn't seasonal content.
-
1 RispondiRed borders are not meant to be grinded for. I'm not, and I already have 4 red austringers ready to go. The dungeon is free if you buy the year. This season we got a patrol zone and a (lame) 6 person activity, a dungeon with new weapons to chase, and a pretty good story. Plus 3.0 has been amazing so far. I disagree.
-
2 RisposteModificato da rednayeL: 6/21/2022 11:42:20 AMIs it really so different than other seasons? Story, activity, it’s always the same, always been the same. Why complain now? Weapon crafting is way too long, but if you really want to craft something you can. The dungeon is fast paced and fun with a group, very stressful to solo, especially last boss. Otherwise, I don’t see what’s wrong, except what has always been wrong. It’s repetitive, it’s Destiny.

6 RisposteBungie "Season 17 will blow your mind"... Well, you can't expect a game dev trying to sell some season passes to come out with "This season is going to be pretty bog standard you all." That'd be like a car salesman saying "Yeah, in about a year and a half, your power window is going to go out on the driver side, and the infotainment system will power cycle whenever you hit a small bump in the road, or when it rains heavily. Oh, and DON'T buy the extended powertrain warranty, the car will go well over 100k miles as long as you change the oil as per the owners manual." Game Devs, overhype. That's what they do. Especially AAA devs. My suggestion, play the "free" mission every season, look at the roadmap, look at the new weapons and armor, then look at the battle pass rewards. If it all seems worth $10, then go for it. If not, take a season off.
-
1 RispondiWhen this season first launched I found it a bit underwhelming. But I decided to go for the seasonal title 'Reaper' and started the Leviathon grind. It grew on me. The story of nightmare redemptions has been interesting, though I was hoping we'd get Ikora's story (her nightmare is Cayde). Solar 3.0 hit me about the same way. At first I was underwhelmed but playing with new builds has been more fun than I would have thought.
-
It's shite...
-
2 RisposteDuality is just too long. Casual runs should take this long: Strikes should be 8-12mins, dungeons should be 15-25mins, raids should be 40- 1hour. Obviously this is with no wipes and running casually. I can squeeze in running any dungeon except for duality. It takes longer than some raids
