• The PvP team does not have the talent or leadership to move it forward. PvP was bad and has gotten progressively worse over the years. It is a perfect storm of issues right now.

      • Alacrity dropping on the Trials weapons loot pool serves as further game maker acknowledgment of PvP MM and Solo Queue inequities, but also tells us there won't be any further meaningful playlists reformation in the immediate future. The years in the making PvP squeeze toward mathematical middle ground in order to keep the masses playing and the multitude professional players tied to this game in business (e.g. sponsored streamers and paid carry services), appears to have reached a small and gradual turning point, which is based upon billions of play hours data. Freelance Trials, Iron Banner, Survival, and the addition of Alacrity are all steps in a better direction. Peer-to-peer, cross platform, and premade fireteam bias are visible permanent parts of the game, and inasmuch these concessions to the evolved PvP climate have been made. Any player, regardless of  professional or casual status, unwilling to acknowledge built in PvP inequity either doesn't understand Destiny PvP evolution to its present state, or is in denial of reality for self serving reasons. Add into the mix Destiny's rich history of well documented "hidden game mechanics" including damage referee, comeback, selective weapons bloom, etc etc etc, and the many player initiated hacks/cheats....there have been many detractors from the game. The fight is over balance between casual player interest and professional interest (sponsored streamer and paid carry services). This is why math behind it all has narrowed toward the middle ground...including algorithm manipulated 50/50 win/loss equilibrium. It's encouraging to see Freelance lists, Alacrity, anti-cheat measures, and limitation of 3rd party camera because it begins to address issues and creates more options relative to distribution of skill levels amongst the player and playlist base. Clearly, the game maker believes the player base is large enough to support this shift. Professionals and those otherwise advantaged should rightly have a more proportionately tougher time succeeding. Casual players should rightly have a more proportionately easier time succeeding - - if Destiny wants to keep the masses engaged. Game maker actions speak to this. The game maker could wave a magic wand and make instant sweeping change....but that won't happen because that would leave it nowhere to go. For Trials and Iron Banner, the two lists with "level advantage enabled" - a bracket system based on metric such as Elo and Light Level would be a more fair way to divide the participants. Much like in college football, you could be champion in your division but most likely never ascend beyond that to compete for the national title. In college football or any other sport.....there are no differences in equipment available for use by athletes. You also never see a pinnacle athlete in other sports demanding to compete against lower tier players and believing that's ok. This is why a bracketed Trials and Iron Banner should offer the same loot pool regardless of which division you play in. Destiny history shows that availability of weapons drops does not elevate a player beyond their ability, which is supported by game maker actions. In other words, there would be a vast difference between claiming a lower tier title and a top tier title in Destiny PvP. Any player not willing to play for titles (reflected by way of an emblem, shader, or the like) and let go of the loot pool and Light Advantage - - is desiring an easier time in PvP via various mechanics advantage. The other option could be - any weapons made to be exclusive reward for higher bracket winners would barred from use in lower bracket levels. There is no viable alternate hypothesis to this. In a system like this, everyone would be pleased - Destiny completionists get their loot, top tier players get their loot and distinction they deserve, mid level and lower tier players get their loot and recognition. The game maker and professional players are happy because they play in a truly pinnacle, non-diluted event worthy of watching.

        •
I get that every weapon type has weaknesses and strenghts, but the flinch to linears and snipers make them very hard to use, either you get lucky and hope your shot connects due to weird flinch, or you retreat, with high cal bullets it makes it a lot harder than it already is, but all in all snipers are in a good place, my complaint is the flinch that other weapons do.
That's the point. The literal design goal for both weapons is they're easy to contest. They aren't supposed to be trading blows.
I consider myself a good player, im versitale and use a lot of weaponry in pvp, and i can say that 540's are stupidly op.
This should be interesting...
The kill time,
They're 0.8 second kill times. That's pretty average.
the range,
Comparable to any decently rolled HC.
the stability
Pretty standard among rifles. ,
and the flinch,
Again, pretty standard rn.
make it an top tier weapon, make it four shot and it would make more sense, as high impacts two shot, adaptives and lightweights 3 shot, it would only make sense if rapid frames 4 shot, or just turn rapid frames into lightweights.
Making them take 4 bursts to kill reduces their TTK down to be in excess of a full second. That's actually worthless, especially considering they're about on-par with Hand Cannons in terms of how far they reach.
I get that there are exotics that are way bigger problem that are also dominating, but seeing how they nerfed them, is not good news, lorentz and chappy are still very much used. And nerfing last word on console would not solve a big part, its op but still in need of a nerf, make it have 6 in the mag so its not as forgiving and nerf the range by five, so it can still shut down apes, but not win at fusion ranges.
Last Word is supposed to win at Fusion ranges. I agree it needs a nerf, but it's supposed to function well just inside of 20 meters, what you're suggesting is to make Controller Last Word in the same tier as KB+M Last Word. And that's just making the gun worthless.
The problem is bungie nerfs things in pvp according to streamers, who play trials mostly, not normal regural 6's, and thats the problem, there are op stuff 6's that no one in bungie cares about.
Even though streamers were split 50/50 on invis nerfs, most streamers didn't agree with the shotgun changes, and the streamers have enough of a hate--blam!- for Fusions that anytime they're not worthless, they're being complained about. Yeah, Bungie panders to streamers, guis.
I doubt the crucible changes are gonna be significant next season, reason being look at gambit, its at a worse state than before, i know its gambit but still the fact remains, a simple loot system and rebuild is not gonna be enough for pvp, a whole look at whats killing too fast and whats killing too slowly needs a thorough look at. For example, an almost max range 900 rpm submachine gun killing at auto rifle ranges fairly quickly, and scouts being beaten by pulses from range, from... range, isnt a scouts whole agenda, range.
Said 900 SMG also needs to be at ~10 Stability and have Pulse tier zoom to do so. That's also getting nerfed next season. That also reaches 26 meters, where mediocre ARs live.
I know i sound like a 12 year old teen who complains and nags all the time, but seriously this situation is so bad and the pvp community just does not care, which only adds to the problem.
You do sound like that. And frankly, with your suggestions, I wouldn't think you're too far off of that. Also, not to mention that the PvP community widely HATES the current state of things.
They should focus a whole team on building a better structured pvp that does not affect pve in any kind of way, cause pve is perfect in my opinion.
Halo is right there, I might suggest playing that if you're not seeking an action RPG type setup that has some wackiness to it.
I just want a good pvp where i can win fairly and not due to something thats not supposed to kill from over 20 meter in under a second.
So literally every weapon in just about every decent shooter? Scratch Halo, you need to find another genre if you don't want that happening to you.
