Iron Banner is the only time I actually want to play PvP , any other times crucible is just a chore to me
But I know alot of people find it's current state to be a frustrating experience, but I think I remember something in the road to witch queen blog that they have plans to rework Iron Banner and Trials
So it might take a while, but I think they will try to address most of it's problems

They’re reworking Trials. They said nothing about Iron Banner. Iron Banner needs it more desperately than Trials. All Crucible is averaging abou 450k players in an IB week. It used to average double that...on fewer platforms.

Remember a few weeks back Paul Tasso writing an article asking why Bungie hasn’t done anything for IB at all last few years when it’s the most popular PvP mode. No updates really, no changes to armour, maps how it functions.... basically it needs a full rework and come back if I recall correctly First time I could say I agreed with him 100%.
