Overload Champions are broken.

Perdition, the 1300 Legendary Lost Sector is every wrong with the current approach to end game “challenge”. Ginned up by making the player incredibly weak. Though I went in solo at 1288, that is well with the delta that you use for contest modifier content. Each run literally ran into a wall created by the Overload Champions. In each case, in addition doing such damage that I was getting two-tapped by them. In addition to them being able to teleport halfway across the map. In addition, to them spamming their weapons continuously? [b]They were healing faster than I could damage them with both a sword...and my super (Stormtrance). [/b] Despite have the proper mods equipped and meta weapons!! It took THREE rockets to bring down ONE of the. Three direct hits with cluster bomb equipped rockets! Whose idea of “fun” is this?? Whose idea of “fun” is reducing the player to hacking away at an enemy with a sword, and seeing his health bar [i]go up![/i] Whose idea of “fun” is deploying what is supposed to be one of the most powerful attacks in the game, and watch an enemy not only shrug it off... but actually HEAL ITSELF WHILE UNDER ATTACK BY IT?!?! It really lends credibility to the forum criticisms: [i]Do you play your own game? And if you do, how did this get through??[/i]

  • I did the lost sector in the Cosmodrome an the first chest day 29 levels under (1271) and was killing the Overloads easily. Le Monarque literally kills them by itself stun locking them to death, The Barrier champions were the issue. I run today’s one on my Titan and again had zero issues and was clearing it within 4 mins. Used Trinity Ghoul this time due the the Harpies and after stunning them once you just fire an Arc rocket to kill them, If they lived then switch back to the bow and stun again. Overloads are normally a pain yes but the 1300 are extremely weak this season, Now the 1330 Overloads are an issue as it’s takes way to long to re stun them and they just rush you for a two tap.

    • My god, you’re terrible. You’re going against 1300 enemies at 1288. That’s already a big red flag. Then you try to out damage the overloads healing despite having weaker gear and you decide to use an add clear super on it? Go back to wimping for papa Smith and his Sunset wisdom

        So last week before snowmaggedon in Texas, I spent six hours in the moon lost sector to get the three new exotics. Titan: 7 runs Hunter: 10 runs Warlock: 25 plus runs never got it! So yesterday after 4 days without electricity and no heat. I went into the one in Europa. I’m 1313 and did as you did (Kelly) and slotted mods and meta weapons. I did not die on first run at all and noticed that the champions only could be knocked down with a rocket launcher as well. Chaos reach with the boots were the only way I could get them down and defeated. Moved on to boss and nuked him, looted chest and exotic dropped first run. Moral of the story won’t go back in any lost sectors the remainder of this season. Good riddance.

            I was having the same issue. I switched to arc bow with exploding heads and overload, barrier scout and anarchy. Storm caller with surge detonators mod. Got though it many times with ease. The massive arc burn made my grenades, super and anarchy melt. Id stun the overload with arrow or made them lob 2 or 3 anarchy and watch him melt. Same with barrier when stunned, lob a couple anarchy. At the boss I’d save as many anarchy rounds as I could. Spam the boss with it pop stormtracer and melt. Run and grab the chest.

            • I had the Popeyes Chicken Sandwich, it's ok. Don't know why people are lining up for them. I still prefer the Chick Fil A one

              • Just for the record, I'm going to reiterate my stance on Champions as a whole, and that is that Champions are a mistake. They're an additional gear/Power check on top of the initial Power Barrier and it's lame. You either shut them down completely, or slam against them while making zero progress in perpetuity. There is no middle ground, no strategy, and no thought into how you fight them: bring the "approved methods" or don't show up at all.

              • Listen to ripper dude. Smg to stun Switch to temp hook sword (prefer with en garde) Shoot lightening stuff at him Finish off with gun or sword...profit!

              • Ur first problem is using stormtrance. But I agree they are broken there is no optimal way to stun them this season swords aren't worth the risk and smgs take too long to build up to the overload shots.

              • I was between 1305 - 1310, did it on all chars, and it was quite easy. Get you light up to begin with. I haven’t tried sword for overload, I always use bows, they are the best I find, one shot stun. I did notice they take life back faster while being frozen by a melee with my hunter, not 100% sure, but I have seen them regen faster in some instances.

                • Looking at your load out I see why you struggled. And your using storm trance? Why not chaos reach? Do you also not have witherhoard? Are you also managing your abilities correctly? There’s an overload arc grenade mod this season as well. There’s also anti barrier sniper which helps, AND there is also a debuff mod when using long range weapons. There’s so many things to use to get through champions. ALSO, if nothing else works, use ticcus. Constant spam of fully charged arrows with overload mod makes them stop moving. You ALSO could get your light up more before tackling “end game” content to make it even more easier.

                  Holy moly. Is that satire. Oh I can't believe it. My eyes are deceiving me. That's Kelly Green the person who is defending sunsetting like no person ever did before. And that same person wrotes this exquisite satire post. Thanks for this, I had a tear of joy. Just a few tips: 1. Use stormtrance against ads, not big enemies, especially not non-stopped overload champions. 2. If you are already using arc, use your arc grenade to stop the champion (there is a mod for that) 3. If you want to use an arc super against champions, use the middle tree and improve it with geomag stabilisiers. That's actually a really good super, similar strong to upper tree novabomb. 4a in higher difficulties: bows work perfectly in scenarios were you play slowly and need to play safe. Arc grenades work against overload champions (in higher difficulties, stop overload champions first and then burst them away). 4b. in lower difficulties: Overload SMGs are okay enough were you just want to play quickly in average difficulty content - or just burst enemies down with a sword (any sword will do, you definitely DON'T need lament or guillotine, ANY sword will be strong enough, for example honored edge, steel sybil or negative space) 5. champions aren't fun is your subjective opinion. I think they spice things up. I don't need them everywhere, but I think Bungie does a good job with it. It is really surprising that I am the one defending the game(play) now, instead of you. The thing I love about the game, despite sunsetting still sucks, is that this game has a nice gameplay. If you just nerf overload champions, you could say the same about everything. And then every activity feel like a patrol zone with enemies just tickling you. That's nice for relaxing, but if it's every activity it will hurt the game very badly.

                      • Im confused in how they were healing while you were attacking them? If you were using Stasis, freezing a champion will actually break them out of stun.
