Overload Champions are broken.

Perdition, the 1300 Legendary Lost Sector is every wrong with the current approach to end game “challenge”. Ginned up by making the player incredibly weak. Though I went in solo at 1288, that is well with the delta that you use for contest modifier content. Each run literally ran into a wall created by the Overload Champions. In each case, in addition doing such damage that I was getting two-tapped by them. In addition to them being able to teleport halfway across the map. In addition, to them spamming their weapons continuously? [b]They were healing faster than I could damage them with both a sword...and my super (Stormtrance). [/b] Despite have the proper mods equipped and meta weapons!! It took THREE rockets to bring down ONE of the. Three direct hits with cluster bomb equipped rockets! Whose idea of “fun” is this?? Whose idea of “fun” is reducing the player to hacking away at an enemy with a sword, and seeing his health bar [i]go up![/i] Whose idea of “fun” is deploying what is supposed to be one of the most powerful attacks in the game, and watch an enemy not only shrug it off... but actually HEAL ITSELF WHILE UNDER ATTACK BY IT?!?! It really lends credibility to the forum criticisms: [i]Do you play your own game? And if you do, how did this get through??[/i]

  • I found a good system for dealing with them and fortunately have only had the mod not stagger one once, but my issue is that I did 10 runs and didn’t even get a purple drop, let alone an exotic. Last season it took me 12 runs to get the new exotic but I got another exotic on my first run and got a few legendary drops. So far this season.... 3 enhancement cores.....

        • Uh, I'll give a few tips that help with being under leveled. Stasis is busted in PvE against champions. If an overload champion gets the slow effect, they cannot teleport, and they seem to decide to stop shooting. Also, if they freeze, you can very easily take advantage of overload bow or SMG. Or sword, if you decide to use that at such a low light level for some reason. Should you have open slots for it, use a grenade launcher (heavy or special) with blinding or concussive grenades. This just outright blinds any enemy that isn't a champion or boss, and makes them unable to attack you. Stormtrance not a great super, and even worse at lower levels. I assume you were using it for arc overload grenades? It the very least, I reccomend you use chaos reach with geomags. Far more damage, and far more frequent abilities. Also, try and get your light up a little bit more. If you're struggling, just get that power up a bit more. Try running some resist mods. If it's void damage doing you in more than anything, put on void resist. A few days ago during the K1 Crew Quarters lost sector being open for farming, those sniper shanks and vandals and well everything were doing a fair bit of damage. Threw on an arc resist mod, and I actually was able to tank a whole lot more damage. I don't know if you're trying to brute force your way through such an activity, but it helps to make a loadout sometimes. Put some thought into it. Maybe it's the weapons you're trying to use. But give it a go again when you try some of the tips folks have provided.

Your 12 under recommended, it’s a given you’ll be weaker than normal. Overload champs will one shot you, the best thing to use is Divinity+A sword and an arc subclass (A season mod gives overload arc nades). They only heal when they aren’t stunned, you can chain stun them with the nades and Div. Stormtrance isn’t for damage, it’s ad-clear. The only rocket I would vent consider using is code-dueling with lasting impression. It may not be fun for you, but doing stuff (non-champ) is extremely fun underleved due to how much it keeps you in your toes. I am thinking of a way that I will fix champs without making them piss-easy. Until then. Good luck trying for the new cheat piece guardians.

          • Power levels matter, at 1300 those overload minotaur's go down quick. They set up a great system for exotic armor acquisition, you just have to be a higher power level to breeze through it. But you could be the first to get the armor if you do it underleveled, which is an excellent choice they have given us. The champions are a way to have a power level check without making every enemy a one shot killer.

            • Did it at 1300. The second I saw your post. For reference. Class: Titan Subclass : Stasis (why not it's busted). Bow - Arc (Trinity Ghoul for pedantism) - Overload mod Sniper - DSC Sniper Forgot the name. - Anti Barrier mod Heavy Sword - Falling Guillotine Void - Boss spec. First run was flawlessly done. Your mistake was going in under levelled. Pure and simple. Overloads are working as intended. Player error as usual is overlooked.

I've stated (as it comes up time after time), if anyone at Bungie with decision making abilities play tested this game, I've speculated that 90% (or more) of the issues a lot of us have experienced would simply not exist.

                    Yeah I did the perdition lost sector once (got titan exotic first time!) and it wasn't really an issue. Took between 5-10 minutes

                  • Gotta like how people consistently complain about these types of champions specifically but because it's coming from you they decide to just attack you. It's interesting to see this happen to someone else for a change. Unfortunate but expected considering the general behavior of people who post here. But all that aside I feel you. Overload champions specifically are overtuned and have long needed adjustments. I like the champion system conceptually but it needs to be further ittarated on. Should've been already considering how long they've been around at this point.

                      This is the first time I’ve seen Kelly so pissed. Champs (more specifically mods) need a rework though 100%.

                        • Go void subclass for the two minataurs - melee less safe than grenade to lower their shields if you are underlevelled. Use a kinetic sniper with the sniper barrier mod on your gauntlets. Put a major spec on the sniper. If your sniper has vorpal then profit but not necessary. Use ikelos SMG (with barrier mod on your gauntlets) or an arc bow with barrier. Your choice. It needs to be arc for all the harpies. Use anarchy for killing the champs and boss. And possibly wyverns. For barrier you can stick the champs first then stun with sniper and the anarchy will continue its damage. Fire another sniper shot if you need). Or just snipe them but if underlevelled they could be annoying and it may take a lot of ammo. For overloads: stun, stick two anarchy, switch back to SMG/bow and hit them some more. Use sniper on the hydra (you can snipe through its revolving shield due to barrier mod) and barriers as explained above. Two anarchy on the boss will kill it at 1310. At 1310 I took a leisurely 6 mins per run on both warlock and titan. The wyverns are the most annoying but two anarchy shots will kill them as well. If you do not have anarchy: get it before you try anything else. It is now super straightforward to get, you just need to do some raid encounters. This loadout makes it very easy at appropriate level but it should also be straightforward a bit below, you may just need to take your time. Go well guardian.

                        • I did the lost sector in the Cosmodrome an the first chest day 29 levels under (1271) and was killing the Overloads easily. Le Monarque literally kills them by itself stun locking them to death, The Barrier champions were the issue. I run today’s one on my Titan and again had zero issues and was clearing it within 4 mins. Used Trinity Ghoul this time due the the Harpies and after stunning them once you just fire an Arc rocket to kill them, If they lived then switch back to the bow and stun again. Overloads are normally a pain yes but the 1300 are extremely weak this season, Now the 1330 Overloads are an issue as it’s takes way to long to re stun them and they just rush you for a two tap.
