It looks like Bungie is going to nerf the stasis subclasses, starting with the shatterdive on hunters (according to the community managers). However, looking at past subclass tuning and nerfs make me believe that nothing good will come from this (let me explain):
To make stasis "balanced", Bungie would need to nerf the grenades, melee, specific fragments and integral parts of the stasis subclass that make them feel fantastic and unique. All of these changes would have to be made to make other light based subclasses competitive once again. All of these changes would have to be made to ensure that I just don't see stasis the majority of the time in the crucible.
Remember when Forsaken launched, and we got new amazing subclasses such as Nova Warp and Blade Barrage? Those subclasses went from being some of the best and most unique to the worst and most useless subclasses (in pvp AND pve) because of pvp nerfs. I think that something similar will happen with stasis, where it goes from being powerful and unique to obsolete.
True Vanguard mentioned how stasis could be banned from usage against fellow guardians inside of the vanguard lore, and that seems logical to me.
In conclusion, I don't want the stasis subclasses to lose their identity and power because of how dominant it is in pvp, but I don't want it to ruin pvp either. The removal of stasis in pvp would also make it so that Bungie wouldn't need to balance future fragments and such with pvp in mind.
They could fully express their creativity with stasis without having to worry about its impact on pvp.
PS: if anyone thinks "why don't we just remove pvp instead"...well, the crucible playlist still has hundreds of thousands of daily players. Removing their pvp scene instead of just removing stasis from pvp seems like an illogical, poorly thought out and unnecessary move.

Have only one playlist where stasis subclass is allowed. They can all go freeze each other and while everyone else enjoys a stasis freezing crucible.

I agree with where your going on the process of balancing Stasis, but would probably expand a bit further in two ways. First, completely remove the freezing nature of Stasis outside of the activation or use of a Super for that subclass. I would be fine with a slowed effect with melee and grenades, such as we get from running through a hive wizards blight, but not a flat out freeze. Heck even during the campaign when we are going up against Eramis, and her cohorts, you don't really ever instant freeze outside of I believe the Priestess Hunt where she throws extremely predictable shards. Even under the circumstances of this particular hunt, the freezing is always avoidable and predictable. You have to try hard to NOT avoid freezing. Why different for us. Second, Stasis abilities should not cancel out an activated super. Your in your SUPER, for goodness sake, you shouldn't run around the corner to the warlock snowball and then get killed. There is no counter, or way to avoid the freeze, unless you macro the class key ability I guess, which would still leave you in a frozen state for a few seconds, but that is the difference between life and death in Crucible. Well, that's my take at least. Either way if they can find a way of reworking the class to balance it out, great, if not go with what TV pointed out about the lore aspect, especially considering that during the BL campaign Zevala is constantly asking you not to use it. You think he would see you using it in the Crucible (the training grounds for Guardians), and go, "Nah, it's cool......."

2 RisposteI’m a hard core 8-10 hour per day PVP enthusiast. Stasis has ruined the fast paced fun environment that Destiny was famous for. I’d remove it from PVP and if it’s important to some players then offer a stasis PVP play list. I’m so sick of game play with stasis that I’ve moved back to Halo. I’ll come back to Destiny once this issue is resolved

In my opinion, disable it in trials, elimination, and survival. It can stay in everything else.

Ability’s should slow. Super should freeze, hunter shatter dive needs a cool down !!! And shatter radius smaller but damage still good to stop supers.

As long as you can freeze a player and kill them without doing much it’ll be broken. Simply disabling stats is from pvp sounds like a far more reasonable solution. You can’t make CC balanced it’s either broken or garbage

This would be great, but bungie could just add a couple control or clash modes that doesn't allow stasis. One for valor and one for glory and maybe even one for trials. I just don't think stasis belongs in trials though.

As someone who lives in crucible and is pretty damn good at destiny crucible I have to say is stasis isn’t as big a deal as ppl make it out to be and no I don’t main stasis hunter I don’t even have shatter dive unlocked (pve is boring) It’s just that y’all have too much time in y’all’s hands like go outside do something else instead of crying about something so easy to counter and play around lmao

Create a pvp sub-playlist where stasis can be used. That way if players go into that playlist they know what they’re in for. I really hope Bungie doesn’t destroy stasis. It’s overpowered in pvp, but it’s alright in pve.

I don't play PVP, never did, never will. I will say though, they were out of their frigging minds including that in PVP. Why not just throw the guns away and give everybody nukes? Its great in PVE, and even then I don't use that subclass on all my characters, but in PVP it has to be a curse. You might as well just give everybody voodoo dolls.

Stasis is absolutely absurd for pvp. Any other game has dimishing returns or at least a cap. Being frozen for 5 seconds is broken and unfair. People are quitting. Good, long term people are quitting Honestly did Bungie not test this before releasing it? First the sunsetting and now this. Honestly Iron Banner should have just waited. Or maybe just remove pvp all together, that's honestly a better option than Stasis as a whole inside pvp. Id say only allow frozen to happen while in a super, and change grenades to only do damage and not freeze. Pvp was already busted and this placed it over the top.

separate sandbox for pvp and pve…… less range for qx in pvp and the same in pve ffs, it's actually less work than ban it or nerf it, they actually have some of the worst dev in the industry to not do it

Just logged in after 3 weeks playing something else, was really excited about some PvP. I was one minute in the game 4 times frozen and remembered why I was playing something else for 3 weeks. Stasis in PvP is broken. Keep it in PvE it's fun to use there sometimes but it totally defeats the purpose of dueling each other in a PvP environment. Just saw a few YouTube videos and it seems some streamers are backing out for the same reasons. Maybe there is something to it then?

Id be cool with the only thing being able to freeze be the supers, everything else applies a slow effect with a reduced duration less than it is currently and tone down stasis crystal shatter radius a ton. I just think that mele and grenades that can shut down supers, suck you in like a black hole, and let some one dab in front of you before they kill you etc is kinda ridiculous. Either bring everything else up to par or bring all stasis down a notch.
