Don’t continue with seasons

I know I saw a post where Cozmo replied saying that they will continue with seasons instead of how it used to be. I’m just saying seasons are a disaster...

Season of the Undying: We killed the undying mind which changed the course of history. So... the Traveler never sacrificed itself and the Tower never fell? Season of Dawn: We traveled back in time to save Saint-14. Season of the Worthy: The cabal are trying to take out the Tower again.

      Its not seasons that's the problem - its the busywork and lack of engaging content [b]The current Season format is a waste of developer time and resources.[/b] 1. Developers should be making content that contributes to the long term of the game 2. Scarcity tactics of FOMO is not enticing to players 3. The content is shallow and is not engaging for the players, nor do they feel it is worth their time. [b]Q1-Q3 should focus on Strikes & Dungeons while Q4 is an expansion release.[/b] Dungeons & Strikes that offer 1. A contained story, with a clear Villain, that also connects to the larger narrative 2. Engaging Mechanics and Boss fights 3. Loot: Gear & Cosmetics - A reason to keep going back [b]Rewards including;[/b] Weapons, Armor, Shaders, Lore, Ornaments, Sparrows, Ghost Shells, etc. As an instanced activity Bungie could have them take place anywhere in the Destiny universe, not necessarily restricting them to already existing Worlds and Zones. It's alright if there is a seasonal activity but there cannot be such a heavy focus on it. Players do not enjoy doing endless mindless chores or Shallow Menageries. Include some; Side Story quests, Exotics quests, unique bounties, etc. to create the Evolving World but focus on adding engaging content that is going to stick around. This would be the better format of content for [b]an Action MMO[/b]

        • I’d honestly prefer a huge DLC drop then hopefully a big update like 6 months down the track just like Taken King. There seemed to be more fulfilling content back in those days. Considering Bungo doesn’t have Activision to lend them manpower and money then it seems like a smart move to return to content drops like that. D2Y3 has demonstrated multiple times how much this seasonal system fails so let’s just go back to what works, yeah?

          • The problem is not seasons the problem is that the game cant handle enymore so they have to add and remove stuff to keep it going destiny is one of the biggest games out there compared to others.

            • Seasons are terrible, update our story content once a year. Small 3 month drops are not worth it. But at least they are free.

              • I hate the seasonal thing because u get no vender refresh no new loot. Just eververse loot and story I can just look at on YouTube. No iron banner loot no nothing. Just one set of guns in activities I feel like are rehashed doing the same shit over and over lol. I want a new campaign .new vender loot .new ib look new world drops

                • They need to abandon everything they’ve implemented from the release of D2- a regression in every facet of the game.

                • Seems like the game has gone more and more downhill since they switched to this seasons layout. I never saw it this bad in D1.

                    I think the year 2 seasons were pretty good. Content was fairly few and far between but when there was new content it was enough to hold people over for a while. Edit: These 3 paragraphs are basically mini reviews of each season, my actual point is in the last paragraph. In black armory there were a handful of really good legendary weapons introduced between the forges and the raid such as tatara gaze, kindled orchid, blast furnace, hammerhead, and threat level. Grinding god rolls on those was and still is a big time commitment and grinding them was actually enjoyable and efficient, it was the first time this game has ever had a way to farm rolls on one specific weapon without leaving your god roll in the hands of layer after layer of RNG and I found that really fun. I could sit down to farm forges for 3 hours and know for a fact that I would come away with like 9 or 10 chances at the god roll of the one weapon I wanted. The forges themselves gameplay wise were also pretty solid. Not to mention there was a raid even if it was short and arguably lackluster. Say what you will about season of the forge but I thought it was good and had a solid month or two worth of content even for people with a lot of time to play. Season of the drifter of course not many people liked but it had a decent amount of stuff to do. Some new weapons to grind like last man standing and sole survivor which quickly became extremely sought after PvE weapons (last man standing with one two punch for the arcstrider liar’s handshake build and sole survivor since it could roll things like field prep firing line and 7 in the mag which was unreal for PvE after grenade launchers were nerfed) and spare rations which was and still is arguably the best legendary pvp hand cannon this game has ever seen. Gambit prime was a revamped gambit which many agree is better since games don’t last as long and it is more fast paced, and reckoning was very far from a well designed activity but it was there nonetheless. And then season of opulence came which was some of the most enjoyable this game has ever been in my opinion. The menagerie took forges’ generosity when it came to only farming one specific weapon and made it way more generous, giving you multiple shots at whatever you wanted from the loot pool in every 10 minute run. The loot selection was huge and two fan favourite weapons to this day, austringer and beloved, entered people’s hands without being extremely hard to get since you could grind them and only them and get god rolls very quickly. It may have been broken but it was fun and I think it made bungie realize that people like being rewarded. Skimping on rewards makes people unhappy. Heavily rewarding people makes people happy and willing to play even if it doesn’t last long. For me it did last long, having so many god rolled weapons made me enjoy crucible way more. I didn’t feel disadvantaged because I wasn’t willing to sit in reckoning all day, I could choose to start using dust rock blues and have a god roll after an hour of menagerie. It was very fun. There was also a raid with some decent loot. Idk why this became a review of Year 2 but I just think it was enjoyable, had a decent amount of content for being spread out over a year, and was well worth the $30. The NEW season model sucks. Every 2-3 months we get a week or two worth of stuff to do and paying for seasons is pretty much useless if you look at a side by side comparison of what you get with vs without buying the season. They haven’t added a single notable pvp or pve weapon, the most used weapons are still all from last year. It’s bad.

                    • The fact that they're using FOMO to exploit players who enjoy collecting things in games to keep them playing is just as dirty as using gambling addictions to get people to buy loot boxes. I would love major content drops every few months with a month of drought in between, instead of it being slowly put out over several weeks.

                      • I hate the seasons layout, it’s so dry, repetitive, and the same “upgrade ___ on all 3 planets” bs. I’d prefer a long dry period for a big creative dlc than the seasons.

                        • i don't like this seasonal fomo bullshit. it's almost insulting how they think it's worth the asking price, and that "content" is temporary. just recently purchased forsaken from a sale, felt like that was a reasonable price. wish there was an option to purchase shadowkeep without the season pass, bc don't want it. i'd rather put that 10 moneys to some indie-game, which actually has some heart.

                              • I agree but considering the situation I think we should be thankful that they are still updating the game. Hopefully one day they will go back to the DLC model and remove seasons. I just hope we get to see one of the laptops they are using while working from home. I imagine those things are next level. 👍🏼✌🏼

                              • They only continue with seasons because it makes them the most cash, not because it's good for the game in any way. The whole concept of the "ever-evolving-world" has been a joke. If the leadership at Bungie had actual pride in their work, they'd change how they deliver content, prioritizing quality over fast-food-esque quantity. It's funny, really, when you consider how they talk so much about "aspiration", when the leadership there clearly has no artistic aspiration themselves.

                                  • The only thing that’s different I see with seasons to previous dlc is that we lose the content that we pay for and the only thing that matters is xp. Oh we get a visible rewards bar as a rank up incentive and we get 4 seasons instead of 3 dlcs. I’d like understand what it is exactly that people want to change and why they think certain systems are good or bad. Myself I would prefer 3 dlcs and the content stays, eventually removing 2-3 year old content and replace with new content in the dlcs. No sun setting of items, just they become exclusive and unobtainable after a fair amount of time. The 3 dlc can have their own season rank up banner and also an arcing season pass banner for season pass owners. There would be a main expansion in September at a higher price with year long objectives and increased content and each dlc can still be purchased even after a new dlc launch as before shadowkeep. Bungie should then commit to a total refresh in the September expansion complete with vendors, modifiers etc being refreshed and then could follow a simple pattern for the year. Expansion refresh, activity dlc, refresh with story dlc, activity dlc and renews again with a September refresh expansion. With these expansions and while we remain in a limited d2 coming up to 4 years the first years content can be removed as long as the new expansion content replaces or exceeds the content being removed. Removed activity gear then gets its unobtainable status and currently that’s nothing that’s meta. Exotics can be put into the loot pool instead of a quest. Sun setting is an answer to power creep but is a crutch to a developer who didn’t have the foresight of their decisions ahead of time. With this current seasonal model with a being forced into a state of rushed fomo and also already seeing activity sun setting as the game can’t keep up with all the game world changes. I don’t know if a d3 on next gen/pc would solve the answers or just not having to deal with current gen console limitations vs pc power with next gen consoles allowing them to let loose console holdups and bringing the game up as d2 still but with less hardware issues.
