Instead of making all our beloved weapons obsolete every few months, which seems totally lazy and artificial, why not create NEW PERKS which are then essential in new pinnacle content? In the same way overload and barrier mods became really useful in last season's nightfalls.
That way it means everything is still viable, but gives us a reason to WANT to acquire new weapons. Not just because Bungie have made a choice for us.
What do you think?

1 RispondiBungie stopped reading at “some work”
-
1 Rispondiif it requires Bungle to do work - it won't ever happen.
-
7 Rispostethats...power creep. kill clip > multi-kill clip rampage > swashbuckler in order to create a truly 'desirable' new perk, it usually has to be quite powerful, and even if you DONT quite do it like that, and rather, say, like the anti-barrier/unstoppable/disruptor perks, then your STILL cycling weapons for endgame, just in a more roundabout and disguised way. do you see the problem bungie has on their hands?
-
4 RisposteUsing your example, every weapon in the game, currently, would be useless in that activity because they wouldn't have the necessary perk. Depending on how important you imagined the perk being, legacy weapons may be MORE useless than if they were just retired like Bungie mentioned might be a possibility - a low power weapon still does some damage in higher power level content, but if your perk is too necessary, legacy weapons can't do anything. Wouldn't it just be a better compromise that you can use whatever weapon in all content except for the couple current end game activities? I mean, you technically coule still use it there, but it would be weaker. Reckoning was an activity designed around needing specific perks (super-regenerating ones) so you could use as many supers as possible to survive the bridge. I think we all agree that Reckoning isn't the type of content we really want.

1 RispondiWhy not a damage increasing perk that allows for ~15% more damage while in the air, let it drop on a weapon with Air Assault. Or a perk that allows for you to gain additional stability and accuracy when an ally dies. This is just a couple of ideas I have while sitting on my couch getting ready for the day, and neither of them sound overpowered. Sunsetting is a means of artificially creating new content by reintroducing old content with the excuse that making (and testing) content is hard. That's just not okay. Everyone has a preferred playstyle, don't take that from everyone

5 RisposteModificato da Tru-Zrue: 3/3/2020 10:16:21 AMEdit: Better better solution one I've been suggesting ever since armor 2.0. Weapon 2.0: - Remove all perks from weapons. Convert them into slotable mods AND make new ones that can be balance separately from the weapons. Any mods on previously obtained weapons are in the mods category on weapons. - Every weapon ever owned can be pulled from collection as 2.0 (fully rebalanced to accommodate Weapons 2.0). - Three slots on weapons for mods, master working adds a slot and boost a stat (your choice of stat). - Certain mods only work for PVE, and the same goes for pvp. Obviously certain mods need to be made for certain weapons. Currently you can get a rolls(mods) that doesn't help or make since on certain weapons. Guardians know what I mean. - Random rolls can still drop in the worlds. - All exotics have champions mod slots now

5 RisposteSo essentially the same thing with extra steps? Let's say the theoretical perk is called electric booster and let's say its perk is it deals 10% bonus precision damage in Master and up content. How is that any different then say blast furnace doing less damage because of light level? Id argue your solution is actually worse because bungie would have to divert effort away from other content to make these perks and your old weapons would still be useless much in the same way you don't see weapons that dont match champion mods used in things like master content. Your either stupid or deluding yourself if you see a difference. No matter where its lost it's still lost.

1 RispondiA simple, "Does bonus damage to Oracles" like the mighty FateBringer for endgame
-
1 RispondiThe less they have to test the more hours per gun they spend making sure pinnacle events have balance the retirement part doesnt eliminate anyone's guns it does make you have to find an equally effective equivalent during the relevant season though and I already do that now do why get bugged out, the guns will still be relevant in playlists that dont count light level such as control the retirement thing literally only effects pinnacle events ie raid, trials, iron banner, also likely on the most seasonally relevant raids would be effected
-
15 RisposteThey already have been doing this....and now most content in the game is a joke for those at equal or higher power level. Bungie's options are to either nerf weapons/classes (which people clearly hate), make enemies take/output more damage (many people already hate how spongy enemies can be), add unnecessary mechanics to everything for the sake of "difficulty" (people already complain about this in raids), or try something done in many other games which is retirement/shelving option. I'm open to giving this a shot, seeing how it goes, and then "rioting" on the forums if it sucks. Until we see how they actually implement and follow through on this, no we do not know exactly what will happen. Many people think they know what will happen, but that isn't a fact it's an assumption. Heaven forbid people be optimistic on these forums for once in their life. It's a video game, you'll be fine either way.

1 RispondiHow many new perks are actually out there? We have a TON, currently.
-
1 RispondiThat’s the ideal approach, but it’s a dangerous wire to walk because power spike is a real issue, though bungie nerfs it all eventually anyways so I guess that shakes up the meta enough to justify not having shelf lives lmao
-
Seasonal sets with relevant bonuses could also work and entice people to get those sets for the current season but the rolls on it could still be interesting enough to keep a couple of pieces every season and possible replace some stuff in your vault...
-
'IF' Bunged Us decides to actually put real work in we always get screwed worse! They can't spend the time to fix the 20 hour Tower load time which they broke mid-season therefore does not need to wait till a new season to fix. But they can nerf the hell out of everything because they can't figure out how to do things right. Normally I enjoy Destiny and avoid, somewhat, rants against the state of things but lately everyone trying (not you btw) to defend all the changes are bending reality to support their paycheck while the rest of us work in the real world and play Destiny to punch Ogres in the face because its better then doing it in the real world.
-
Good idea but would actually require Bungie to have some creativity
-
I read the part in parenthesis and immediately knew it won't happen for Bungie doesn't work anymore. They just reskin and say it's hard.
-
But bungo that's why, we can't even put anti barrier on exotics 😂
-
Ewww work! That's lame.... Not gonna happen, too much effort and not enough money making
