Since day 1 of Destiny I've been a fan. I know alot of others have and hopefully those still have the same love for the game as I have. What I'm writing here is just a literal description on my time with Destiny and how I still love the game even in it's down times.
My Clan, now of 20+ years, whom I started gaming with on the Original XBOX, playing games like Farcry Instincts and learning how to online game - they told me about this new Bungie game which is going to be as cool as their Halo ones... I immediately went searching for a Beta so we could find out how cool this game will be.
Needless to say we all loved it! We all ordered ourselves the game and on the day of release we all took time off from work to play it!
We found ourselves in the Vault of Glass most of the time as this was our favourite raid but played everything and anything!
My speciality was my beloved Icebreaker and would use this whenever I got the chance. The first time I got to the Lighthouse was the most stressful thing I've ever had to do but was such an amazing feeling when I did! I had to pull every trick in the book to succeed and being some who isn't the best at Crucible this was a massive achievement!
I played mostly my Hunter but used all classes and found each one to be so much fun. I actually won my first Trials with my Warlock though.
Fast forward to D2 - with the same amount of excitement as the launch of D1 we followed the path of finding out what the Red Legion have done. During this time alot of my Clan friends dropped off D2 to pursue other games or just life getting in the way. So I decided to evolved the Clan into Cayde's Heroes for Hire (H4H) and look to bring fresh new people in to make new memories. This is where I met some of the nicest people outside of my actual Clan and made more friends. During all this time I've gotten married, had twins and now showing my sons this wonderful game.
Forsaken came around and even though it was such a massive improvement in gameplay and the future of Destiny it did hurt alot to lose such an iconic character like Cayde-6. I still have my fingers crossed he may find a way back to us.. I mean Saint did right?
Along the way I found a respect and fondness for more of the factors surrounding Destiny, notably the soundtrack, the artistry, the sandbox and the all-round mechanics that make it so special! Finding on twitter these amazing people behind Bungie who dedicate their lives to making our lives more fun.
I can say thankyou a million times to all the wonderful people working at Bungie for this but it still wouldn't be enough for the love I have for them all!
The lore within the Destiny world fascinates me so much and pulls me right into a sort of fantasy world within my mind of heroics and the battle for light and dark and it just amazes me every time that new bit of lore drops!
Streamers, artists, content creators as a whole coming together to make that fantasy even bigger and the community coming together for events leading to new stuff in Destiny it just blows my mind.
Yeah sure Destiny has had it's ups and downs and their will always be those times that something may not be quite as we would like it but in the end this wonderful magical game was made for us all, the evolving state and the awesome secrets we uncover along the way still make it the same excitement as the first time I pressed play to start the game.
Thankyou to all at Bungie, to all the content creators, the community, my clan and my friends.
