Soltice is burning out the player base.
seriously this whole thing has been a shitty soul crushing grind of the worst order. I derived no joy from this event other then exploring the EAZ (the map itself is fun, the event happening inside it is garbage.)
anyone else burnt out by the Solstice?
EDIT: so after a 24 hour Survey it seems that more then half of forum users (1,339/410) are burning the candle at both ends pretty hard as of this edit. if this is how Bungo plans to roll things out in the future they should be very careful as Activition can no longer be their sugar daddy to bail them out.
Edit 2: wow this really blew up, Maybe I should write a thesis on "toxicity of the vocal minority with'in communities and their effects on their Peers" using this thread as a source.

5 RispostePlayers get burned out because they are trying to do a month long quest in a few days. It's kinda on them. These guys go 24/7, rush out every quest, then complain they get burned out. The only time I got burned out on something in this game, Gambit, was when I was grinding like crazy to reset my Infamy rank. Won't do that again.

1 RispondiI like the idea of solstice armor. Its new and its cool looking. The week before this though, I was burning through the midnight oil trying to get Iron Banner done. All characters through all of the bounties in a week and get enough packages that I can get the triumph (which didn't register the number of packages I did, until the event was over). Now we have solstice gear to get. Each one is requiring so many of this or that. Who thought 100 mini-bosses but only 50 chests was good? I felt like staying after getting mini-bosses was a waste of time. I feel like the event of the island is then going to waste, even though it was a great idea and a wonderful event piece. One part that is killing me on my Titan is the Helm. Get 75 arc weapon kills of guardians. If I was good at pvp it would be no problem. If it allowed assists it would be cool. 3 days of grinding in Crucible and I get 1 kill a game because everyone is working so hard to get the kill for their gear. Overall, I am enjoying the event for the most part. At the same time I feel as though I am getting burnt out because of the amount of grind is required for each event. I feel like I do not have time to enjoy doing other things within the game. Its a team based game, maybe adding in a little more team based kills count for each other? Worked great in Iron Banner!

Event lasts for nearly a month. People grind out the armor intended to be worked on over the course of the event in a few days. Then complain they're exhausted. --- If you're burnt out or exhausted from grinding the armor out, that's on you. Nobody said you had to get all three class majestic sets in a week. Literally just work on 1 or 2 pieces of armor a day and you'll have all three sets by the end of the event.

1 RispondiNo, the player base is burning out solstice, not the other way around. People are trying to do everything asap, ignoring they are trying to cram a month's worth of activities into a week, then turning around and complaining about it.

Some people just do the minimum weeklys. 3 strikes, 3 heroics, 3 gambits etc. The problem is not the armor. The problem is the solstice event which is just indicative of the bigger problem with destiny. Yea you can say just don’t do the armor then. But what’s next? If you want the next exotic weapon that comes out you have to do 10 gambit matches l 20 crucible matches and kill 800 mini bosses? The checklist crap is stupid. Zero hour, whisper of the worm, shattered. Those are all strengths of destiny. Make more of that stuff. Or modify existing strikes if time and manpower are issues. I’ll say it again, the checklist crap is stupid Furthermore, it was stated that this was a celebration. This didn’t feel like a celebration. It would have been better to say “do what you want and any chest you open upon completion gives you solstice armor.” Or better yet simply login and you get something. Otherwise let’s not call it a celebration.

Unless you guys are purposely ignoring that bungie stated they are going more MMO.. and I know y'all are going to say " this is the farthest from a MMO" .. yea sure but you understand what bungie is aiming for. Sure there's many aspects to MMO and grinding is one bungie is picking up and that brings me to my second question all that are complaining have you ever played a MMO? Tell me a grind in WOW?.. or Borderlands 2 for example.. drop rate for legendaries were as low as 3.5% yet people would farm a boss for hours at a time yet no one complained. So why now? What do you expect for a grind? You all knew it was the same old content as nothing new is coming till shadow keep. if you want the armor go get it, if not .. then don't? Why do something you don't want to if you don't have too. Just my 2 cents

It's a one month EVENT...a free one at that, that included a new zone/activity. It isn't new "content" and shouldn't be expected to be such. If people aren't enjoying they don't have to play and burn themselves out. Give all the feedback you want, but burning yourself out is your problem honestly. If you don't like it, give reason why and how you think it should change. But don't complain about burning out, that is your choice. There are plenty of other things to do in the game if you enjoy it, if you don't enjoy the game at all, I don't know what to say other than don't play it at all.

I hope that Bungie uses the EAZ again, maybe as an Iron Banner map or something. Because of its size, it would be epic for 6v6 PvP.

I couldn't bring myself to even do one character. It's just not worth the time. Repetitive and reused needs to go.

Now I know how people feel about steamers and what not, but I'll have to agree with datto on this one, because of steamers and the like, people seem to feel a pressure to get everything at launch...

3 RisposteIt is only soul crushing if you are in the "I have to complete it right now" mindset. It is a 3 week event which is plenty of time to leisurely work on all 3 sets. The people who kill minibosses and leave(I did this for about 5 instances until I saw how many vfx times I joined at the boss), especially the ones who choose to venture off and solo kill them vs staying as a group are simply selfish, impatient scum who don't care that they are effecting alot of people negatively by leaving and will probably be on the forums 2 weeks from now complaining about not having enough enhancement cores and/or they didn't get enough packages during the event(I'll be ready with popcorn for these). The miniboss killing then leaving is bad enough that even 2 person fireteams are joining at the boss phase. My wife and I were averaging 2/5 instances where we joined at the boss. She started getting irritated due to needing the miniboss kills and I said" calm down hun, it's free packages for later, you'll get your kills" and about 5 instances later we got the 3 cabal boss and the random also needed minibosses so engineer murdering commenced for about 45 minutes. Am I against people just miniboss farming and leaving? Nope, but dont be a douche about it. LFG like minded people and do it as a fireteam. To me finishing the encounter is the most rewarding. I usually have bad RNG went it comes to rewards and I'm getting 1-5 cores every 3-5 packages. My only gripe with the packages is the masterwork slot seems to be static so far, 30 majestic pieces for my titan all had void resistance.

My 2 cents: Participation is not compulsory. Completing it on all 3 characters is not compulsory. We've got at least 3 more weeks, possibly longer if it gets extended in line with the SK delay. Pretty much every step is activities you'll do every week anyway. Join a clan or use recruitment to find other players. Much less a grind if you do the steps with a couple of friends. Had a laugh doing 10 strikes with 2 clan mates last night and cooperating on orb generation. I've spent a week doing the green armour, upgrading to blue late last night. I'll spend this week doing the blue to get the purple. After that I'll decide which bits to Masterwork. If I have time when I've finished I might do one of the other toons, but I'm not fussed if not. It's only a game. Why do so many people treat it like a job?

It was a decent grind for just the blue armor, now at the blue armor its way too much

Bruh the whole game has a grind. I can’t fathom how the community finally realizes this during an event. I literally could not have fun playing this game at all. It’s beyond me how some of you play it all day long

Seeing how long the grind turned out to be, makes me not question my decision to skip this event completely. I'm celebrating the game by having a break from it, lol.
