Not using LH/Wardcliff coil+shotgun? Don’t play the game

I’m serious. If you’re not doing the noob combo of using the Luna’s Howl with the wardcliff coil in the Crucible just don’t play the game. Plus the fact you spawn with special ammo (shotguns are op) and can farm motes of light in crucible is just a fact that the game carters to the lowest common denominator vs actual skill. I don’t know how the hell you can go from making the Halo series with having some of the most balanced FPS gameplay in history to this. Destiny 2 vanilla PvP was a step in the right direction, but now the game has stepped back into the dark ages of destiny 1, very disappointed

  • I call BS on this..... Ever since I got the Recluse the first hour it dropped, I have not touched my NF. Mida paired with recluse is so so much fun

    • No kidding! I can’t even hit fabled because I don’t have Luna’s or Recluse. Those guns are like hitting a wall in pvp. So incredibly unbalanced. Getting to the point where it’s not fun because all the guns I have are useless in pvp.

      • Last night I was using Polaris Lance and a sniper for Iron burden. I had a decent KD across 4 games. I think that people just don't know how to step back and use distance as your ally. Luna's and shotgun cant shoot very far.

        • Metas are stale and boring. It's where being different is fun and can throw the opposing team for a loop. Hell, i got my first Ghost medal with a bow and a sidearm, and i'm average at best in the crucible, even though i hardly play it.

        • People with Luna’s and or not forgotten would slay you regardless. They are in another league for most part. Im a decent crucible player but know when I am out classed and it is not the weapons it the player. Pinnacle weapons are unattainable by noobs for the most part. With the exceptions of carries or cheating. People that rock the meta just play to win. If you doubt me invite that player to a 1v1 and let us know the results.

It was nothing more that rhandholding butthugging [b]team[/b]shooting cluster Fck. And it almost killed the game. Absolutely not fun at all.

          • I use scouts and a fusion rifle the majority of my crucible games. Generally never both with heavy because when I do go for it, I'm always the only one trying on my dumbass teams.

            • Hard to find someone who dislikes this meta as much as I do. LH/NF have singlehandedly ruined crucible. With the two of these weapons existing, bungie is going to spend the rest of D2’s lifetime trying to chase a weapon that’s just as good or even better than them. Recluse is good, but it doesn’t compete unless you’re two feet away. They kill way too fast and take absolutely no skill to use, and I would know because I have Luna’s. 180 RPM HC’s are all too good and all to forgiving for pretty much any other hand cannon to compete. Shotguns are stupid, but with the recent nerf, they’re less stupid. BUT WAIT! Don’t you worry about your Dust Rock because bungie did barely anything to that one. DRB still feels as busted as it was before the nerf and it’s literally the only shotgun you’ll see in crucible. Wardcliff is pretty self explanatory. Bungie refuses to make 6v6 maps for 6v6 modes for... some reason?? So you can just get heavy after it spawns every minute and go team wipe with it since you get two rockets for it, for some reason. At this point in its lifespan, D2 crucible is absolute balls. If you’re not using the trashy lame ass meta weapons, you’re immediately at a disadvantage. You will rarely ever have a fun experience in this game’s pvp anymore because bungie refuses to address the garbage meta.

            • I've been using the suros regime a lot lately, and it is a lot of fun. Couple it with recluse or a sniper for big maps, averaging a 2.0+ k/d regularly.

            • D2 PvP is an industry joke. If you gave Bungie a set of balance scales and 2 equal weights, they would struggle to achieve balance. Worst though is how catering to PvP leeches into all other aspects of the game and detracts from the PvE experience.

But of course I think the people that benefit from a system will support it whole heartedly and there are definitely a lot of people that enjoy camping with a chaperone and stacking full super mods, etc. everything is basically mayhem now or “comp mayhem”. No fun for me either! Alas. I hope we will have our day in the sun once again but I don’t see that happening in d2.

            • I don't understand the people on here complaining about teamshooting and time to kill. Teamshooting is one of the few things that thoroughly balances a game and promotes teamplay, and a higher TTK allows you to have a chance against people who are teamshooting you, provided you have the right level of skill to counter that. EVEN NOW TEAMSHOTTING HAPPENS, but the TTK is so damn short in this game that you have absolutely no chance to stop it. I see no world where a ludicrously short TTK (multiple avenues of 1SKs come to mind) makes for a better experience in an arena shooter. The game needs several things in order to properly balance the current meta. 1) Better, larger maps for quickplay (6v6 does not work on the overwhelming majority of maps that are in this game. 4v4 is fine) 2) Rebalancing of the weapons meta to make other weapons and builds more viable (I rarely see any auto rifles in the game AT ALL, much less in PvP, and why would you ever use a sniper or scout when so many of the maps are so close quarters) 3) You should not produce orbs of light in PvP when using your super, or really through any means at all. This enables players who are not doing well to all of a sudden have potential to kill multiple enemies with one button. Imagine if you got an AC-130 just because your teammate keeps getting Chopper Gunners in Call of Duty, even though you're 3k-25d. 4) Special weapons need to be changed. Imagine spawning in Halo or Quake or Unreal Tournament with a shotgun or a sniper with multiple clips of ammo. It would be absolute madness, and these games would not be the entities that they are today. The simple fix to this would be to make a separate playlist with these changes, plus add new, larger maps to quickplay. This way everyone gets what they want. The separate playlist would focus more on the arena mechanics of this shooter, with special weapon ammo spawns and power ammo spawns, promoting map control and general teamwork and awareness. Meanwhile, the people who want to be a one man army can go roll in quickplay, carpet bombing with novabombs and enjoying all the one shot kills they can handle. This would also enable Bungie to target more of the competitive shooter crowd, a market that they have historically tried and failed to capture since their work on Halo. With more money in eSports than there ever has been, this could be a good way to bolster their playerbase, being that their average concurrent players are always in flux. I say this as an advocate of this game. It has so many good things, and the gameplay/gunplay in it is so solid that I want to see it succeed, and have wanted to since the alpha for D1. But I don't think anyone here can deny that it is extraordinarily frustrating to die in <1 second so consistently in this game, and to see developers providing so many tools for that to happen.

              • I run dust rock/stardust, monarque and sins of the past. Most games I'm averaging 2.0+ kda. In fact I took that combo through comp for recluse. This was on a hunter, so no I had both eyes 😂

              • Destiny 2 vanilla PvP was not a step in the right direction. The time to kills were much longer and heavily promoted teamshotting. At least now there are more 1v1 gunfights

                    Btw, I must just be the luckiest player ever. Somehow, I hardly see those things and in almost every match, EVERY players lpadout is different. I don't know what I did to get special matchmaking but thanks Bungie!

                      • Got it completely backwards. Vanilla d2 PvP was absolutely horrendous. They still need to bring back more d1 things like nades that actually do something. Stickies should actually kill if they connect. And bigger maps

                        • Absolutely not true bud. Have you used the Recluse with a pulse like bygones? I shred people clutching their LH and NF with Dustrock. Pull massively positive games in comp and quickplay, there are plenty of other ways to do well.

                          • Just some load outs that I use and have done extremely well with Mida/retold tale/hammerhead (I've been using this one a lot recently) Mida/tatara's gaze/hammerhead Mida/translation theory/hammerhead Ace of spades/tatara's gaze/hammerhead Bygones/trust/roar of the bear Bygones/fate cries foul/rotb or hammerhead Bygones/retold tale/rotb Bygones/waveslitter/hammerhead Malfeasance/tatara's gaze/hammerhead I've used luna's for a bit and im pretty good with it so its not that i cant hit my shots or anything, I have just ultimately decided that I want to use something else and to show people that you don't need to use the meta weapons to get by. I normally end up on top of my team tied with the enemy drb/luna's/warcliff stompees spectral blade hunter. It's all about being able to counter those weapons/playstyles, knowing when to and when not to engage and working with your team if you can. Sometimes the enemy is just going to out play you but that doesnt mean that the weapon that they're using is going to make you a god if you use it too.
