Solo player here too. Finished the quest and I've been playing with the gun.
Totally worth the hassle and frustrating randomness.
When we got the Servitor down it was a heart in mouth moment like I haven't had since Aksis.
The quest was tricky but doable.
The gun is fun and different.
All this makes the game they way I enjoyed it in D1.

The clarity always comes after the experience! It was pretty full filling to hear Drifters dialogue then get the drop. What’s more it wasn’t till I stopped grinding before it all happened!
