Pardon me for expressing an opinion that will be disliked by the majority but Gambit just sucks. Between punishing players for not using instant kill weapons like rockets and Sleeper Simulant (which right now is 100% unbalanced) the game has too many imbalances and punishes players for not using the specifically optimal PVP load outs.
Players invading being able to use heavy ammo is also a huge issue. Invaders shouldn't be able to use heavy ammo, they already get an insane damage buff and an over shield and they aren't seen at all on the map. We have to find them ourselves. No helpful indicator other than that they glow red slightly.
The blocker system is too easy to abuse as well, with team strategies that revolve around just depositing 5 motes over and over again until the enemy team just gives up on ever depositing motes and leaves the match. This game mode requires a lot of tune up and already I'm more than sick and tired of it and the bull shit strategies that players use to make life really miserable for players (I.E sitting at the edge of the map as an invader and sniping us on the spawn, basically keeping us trapped there forever). These aren't just issues because "you're just bad and we're good". They're issues because the game mode sucks and needs a fine tuning to stop abusing -blam!- bull shit like one shot kill sleeper simulant shots TO THE BODY.

Modificato da WallaWalla: 1/6/2019 12:41:50 AMI entirely agree. This game type needs a lot of work. To get to the end of a match as the team that pulled ahead 40 to 10 just to have the other team get 10 invades, back to back, is simply just... silly. I get that Bungie wants things to be balanced. Clearly they are very worried about the crying 10 year old constituency of their audience... but the reality is that some players are just better than others and this game type, in it's current form, intentionally punishes those who perform well. This is the socialist version of crucible.

Modificato da AE_Cerberus: 11/23/2018 5:56:25 AMGambit, at its core, is designed very well. It's not meant to be fair, it's meant to be as brutal and aggravating as possible. Sleeper and Queenbreaker are extremely overused and, as some see it, are "wuss weapons" when someone invades and relies solely on that. It's infuriating, but that's just how it is, as frustrated as you or I or another player get with weapons like those. See, Gambit is not inherently bound by as many set rules as, say, Crucible matches, that encourage going at people with tact and using all of your weapons and abilities to your advantage. It's a Gambit - high risk, high reward. You take risks, and go for the gold no matter what. It just so happens that "using cheap weapons" happens to fall under the "no matter what" clause. It'd be greatly appreciated to see some variety, but this is where you take into account the theory of Dominant Strategy, which often states that if a player is given an ultimate way to complete their objective, they're always going to use it. To illustrate this idea more simply, let's go to something basic, like Super Mario Bros. If Mario ALWAYS had the fire flower ability, would you ever just jump on an enemy, which carries the risks of launching into another enemy, flying off a cliff afterward, missing and colliding with the enemy to take damage, or missing and falling off a ledge? No, chances are most players would go for the safe method of staying back and firing fireball after fireball. The same is true in Gambit - if you're given an ultimate way to dispose of your enemies in a match, would you make use of it? Dishonorable as some may see it as, the majority says "yes," as evidenced by the rampant Sleeper and Queenbreaker use. As for blockers, constant small blockers is one way to go about the use of motes and, in fact, can be helpful with a little variety. Quick shotgunners can take out small blockers with ease, mediums fall to swords and linear fusion rifles, and I find my Dreaded Venture to be quite apt at bringing large blockers down to size with little over one mag's worth of rounds to the eye (to note, my Dreaded Venture has a backup mag mod and an extended mag perk, bringing the rounds from 3 to 5). The trick is to bring in some variety, which is hard because of the next paragraph... The only real problem I see with Gambit is the whole "solo players" thing. Far too often, I wind up with clueless randoms that haven't a clue how to play, and just run off on their own, without any idea as to how they should be playing, nor any idea about basic teamwork and common sense. Meanwhile, the enemy team is a whole fireteam that melts Primevals like a microwave melts butter - that is to say, really fast. The real problem isn't the game, it's the players. Some waste too much time on getting heavy blockers that they hang on to maybe six or seven motes, or maybe ten or eleven, instead of helping the team by keeping the enemy busy (I can admit, I'm guilty of this too, occasionally). Some don't even do much to help, just sit by the invasion portal and jump through once it's activated, often to die pretty much immediately. A waste of a good opportunity to punish the enemy even further, by not understanding when is and isn't the best time to invade, or even who's the best candidate for doing so. There's an abundance of loose cannons who run off on their own to do whatever, and often leave allies hanging, which can often lead to a death and a loss of hard-earned motes that the effectively-defenseless player will likely catch flak for after the match, often even by the person who should have helped. Trust me, I know a few in particular... So, basically, it's another "don't hate the game, hate the player" situation, be they enemy or ally. The only effective solution is to gather some friends (or make some in Gambit, as I've had great success in somehow, then gather them up like it's Marvel's Avengers), and get into a party chat to strategize before and during matches. If you can communicate, and all your teammates are at least somewhat coherent, then you might just be able to out-do your enemies by simple communication. Even when working with just one friend, I've had little trouble picking out invaders if he finds them first, and he and I can go for him both. By that point, I often have my Two-Tailed Fox loaded and ready, and I sometimes see them first, and fire off before their Sleeper or Queenbreaker can charge up, or dome them with a high-impact sniper before they see me. A few times, I've even taken heads off of invaders as they saw me, simply because I usually have at least one friend to help me spot them. By then, it's a matter of sighting them first and possibly getting to cover, and with help from allies drawing their fire, all that's left is a couple of good shots to the body or, with luck, a single shot to the head. If you can get a smart and effective team together to take on Gambit, you might find that most of your problems start to go away. Just be sure to have a mic or something, be in a party on your console of choice or a Discord call, or even game chat if you enjoy mics that sound like they're buried under five thousand pillows. Actually, that's another valid problem, is game chat sounding like complete garbage, but that's a general problem with D2 as a whole, and can be fixed easily by using literally any other voice chat option available to you. Except maybe Skype. So there's my overly-lengthy take on this subject. In the end, you can get angry and salty for a number of reasons like every one of us does, but if you calm your mind and consider these ideas, you'll find that your problems stem primarily from an incompetent team, which is almost a guarantee with randoms. Get a group of friends, plan ahead, stick together, and go to every length possible, even if it feels dirty, because Gambit is a dirty business, and it takes a team willing to go to every extremity for victory, to ever reach that victory. And remember, at the end of the day, it IS just a game. You'll reach that max rank one day, even if that day is not today. Hang in there, don't be discouraged, and just keep trying. After all, even in losing, you might make some friends. And isn't a friend, something real, worth more than a number in a game that'll probably be dead in a decade?
-
Its pretty one sided, every match I get is against a pre-made fireteam who just melt the primevil meanwhile i'm with randos who hardly know how to play or just give up halfway through bc they dont wanna go the 3rd round
-
I''d be happy if I could just match with people who know how to -blam!-ing play

6 Risposte
Pardon me for expressing an opinion that will be disliked by the majority but Gambit just sucks. Between punishing players for not using instant kill weapons like rockets and Sleeper Simulant (which right now is 100% unbalanced) the game has too many imbalances and punishes players for not using the specifically optimal PVP load outs.
Have you ever considered that that's what you're supposed to do... This isn't crucible... this isn't your average 4v4 fight. You're supposed to bring your best PvE stuff and they tacked on PvP to the end. Even the Drifter says "Invader down. Bring a bigger weapon next time." if you die (not all the time, but I got it once). The whole point is to not be restricted to primary gun fights. It's a Gambit. You pull out your best card (or weapon) and hope the other team doesn't see you (which they can also one shot you easily).
Players invading being able to use heavy ammo is also a huge issue. Invaders shouldn't be able to use heavy ammo, they already get an insane damage buff and an over shield and they aren't seen at all on the map. We have to find them ourselves. No helpful indicator other than that they glow red slightly.
A: The invaders get no default damage buff. Light level advantages only. B: The overshield helps, and it'll win you a 1v1 primary on primary... but as you just said... no one is using primaries anyway which is a problem to you. It's one shot power weapon fights most of the time. So that's moot. C: They appear on radar all the same and the spawns can be predictable after a few matches (even more so on a coordinated team), and 'glow red slightly' is like calling the sun 'dim'. They have a giant crimson aura you can see across the map clearly if you just so happen to be looking in their direction if they're not in cover. D: So you want invaders to only use Supers instead of Heavy weapon? Okay, have fun dealing with alternating Dawnbreakers... by far the MOST effective super travel wise and range wise. Even surpassing hammers. Only super with that range and power is GG, which is almost as good IMO. Just slower and has no armor so it's easy to kill if you see them.
The blocker system is too easy to abuse as well, with team strategies that revolve around just depositing 5 motes over and over again until the enemy team just gives up on ever depositing motes and leaves the match.
A single shotgun and a spherical grenade can wipe 3-4 of those Phanlaxs in no time. If you can't kill low level blockers (and only low level blockers, as your example claims) then, to be frank, you just aren't efficent enough. A single man can clear all the blockers with ease if they're low blockers. The problem comes in if NO ONE even bothers with the blockers. Then... yeah... that's still on the team's fault. Also... it's supposed to be 'abused'. It's supposed to block you. The only thing you're really saying is that it's doing exactly what it's intended to do. If it was something you could shrug off, forget about, and STILL have no problem with it... that would be useless. I'm glad to see it's not.
This game mode requires a lot of tune up and already I'm more than sick and tired of it and the bull shit strategies that players use to make life really miserable for players (I.E sitting at the edge of the map as an invader and sniping us on the spawn, basically keeping us trapped there forever)
Okay... Let me just be plain... You don't like the game mode. You don't like how Gambit works. And you don't like the idea of players influencing and defeating other players. Sad to say, it's just not for everyone. However, the game is specifically designed to let players do stuff like
make life really miserable for players
. That's the point of Gambit. It is literally a mode where you're supposed to go out of your way to make the enemy suffer every withdraw, every defeat, every setback possible. THAT is the point of Gambit. It's not a fair fight. It's not bound by 'rules'. It's not restrained by 'fair encounters'. But you know what it is balanced by? The fact that you can do it right back to them. If you're not willing to play to the other team's level, then they will destroy you. THAT is Gambit. That is how the mode is meant to be played. And that is exactly why it's set up the way it is. -- And, again, I'm not saying you're 'wrong' to feel this way. Some people hate Dark Souls invasions. Some people love it. Some people think it shouldn't exist, others think the game wouldn't be the same without it. It's your opinion. However, I'm just pointing out that this isn't 'broken' or 'messed up' or 'mistake ridden'. It's made that way by design. The stuff you're most upset about are the foundational concepts for the whole mode. If you treat Gambit as another 'crucible playlist' I don't think you'll ever be happy with it. It's not designed to be like crucible, both in physical rules and in foundational concepts. And it's okay not to like it. It's Gambit. Reward and defeat. You can either be the cheeky b*stard that pulls off an amazing play that annoys the other team to hell, or you can be cheeked by someone doing just that. That's Gambit. No rules, no specific player on player fairness. Only player ability using the tools they have at their disposal in the situation they're in. -- To sum up Gambit in a sentence... it would be this: "What are you willing to do to win?" THAT is what Gambit truly is. To make it anything else is to simply misunderstand why Gambit is the way it is. Again, not dissing your opinion. But I want to show it's 'supposed' to be this way and why. It's a different way to play, it's not supposed to be 'fair' in the traditional sense. Fair in the fact both teams can do the same thing, but unfair depending on the situations and tactics the team takes (or is willing to do).

1 RispondiLet them come my 2 tailed fox is waiting. People need to worry about their own side. I'm on a 8 game win streak and kids invade over and over and they always lose.
-
Agree sleeper are overused
-
1 RispondiBlockers are not an issue and if you team up on the invader that's not an issue either. The big issue is the solo players not playing as a team. It's not the game design it's how you are playing it.

2 RisposteModificato da Shamona220: 9/6/2018 10:27:47 PMI need to have a few more games to have a firm opinion, but I think Gambit has a few balancing issues. One, the ease to phase the other team out with blockers. Two, the ease of invading. Three, the VERY clear weapon and class combinations. Tractor Canon, Sleeper, Ace of Spades, Riskrunner, Sunbreaker with melting point, Warlock (Voidwalker if you want boss dps or Stormcaller for ad clear), and a Golden Gun Hunter. If your 4th is a Code of the Commander Titan you're really set. Four, full fireteams. There is little strategy in this gametype. Spam small blockers. Have a Sleeper for invading and to use against the invader, or Ace of Spades for the person that'll invade and have Sleeper reserved for boss dps. Sunbreaker throwing melting point and when he/she you have a guy with Tractor throwing it's debuff. Riskrunner and a Stormcaller for ads. Golden Gun for a pinch hitter taking out the invader and boss dps. Also they need to make it where a full fireteam almost can't play anyone other than another full team. I know full teams should have an advantage, duh. But it's near absurdity here. I never once complained about full teams in Crucible because the other team still has a punchers chance and I've come out on top of full teams before. But here in Gambit a full team is going to win every.....damn......time. Also I think blocker costs need raised by 5 to get rid of the blocker spam. 10 for a small, 15 for a mid, 20 for a large. And because of how easy it is to invade since you're near invisible due to the all the ads / blockers, the fact that you know where enemy guardians are, and Sleeper / AoS making the act even more simple I think the invader should have it's oversheild taken away. It's unnecessary and you have everything going for you as an invader even without it.

1 RispondiThe PvP element ruined it before it even released. More cancer for the tryhards to play.
-
3 RisposteI killed four invaders with the HC Agamid for Cayde's quest in a single game, would've been 5 if it wasn't for a stolen kill by teammate. If anything, invaders need a buff, imo.
-
I've ran a full crucible stack team in gambit and lost to a really good PVE team that knows how to melt a boss...i have to disagree with you
-
This gamemode has a huge potential for competitive play. How all the roles (portal person, mote collector etc.) work together to complete the objective has a huge potential to create interesting matches.
-
Man I respect the opinion but I gotta disagree. Now keep in mind. I am 9-0 in gambit currently. I have only qued as a 3 man with a few buddies. The blockers unless it is a 15 are stupidly easy, and if there are more than 1 simply call out for help if you are with someone and we had no problem but we could see where teams were struggling. So many people wanna save 15 and dump them while my team is just dumping 5s until we specifically hit 1st invasion then my friend would go and kill them and punish them for all having 15 motes. Its simple really whoever is faster wins as it should be. As for the invader things I found if they were using a sleeper they were quite difficult to deal with sure, but mostly team shots made quick work of people.
-
2 RisposteThe game mode looks like it could get boring after a few times, although I did enjoy the court and Archon Forge and thought the same thing, but ended up enjoying those modes. Are there any incentives to play it? Does it reward you with good gear?, or is it a waste of time?
-
19 RisposteSleeper isn’t OP in Gambit because it one shots, it’s unbalanced because it has infinite range.
See how I didn’t say OP? That’s because it isn’t and you wrongly use the word and lighten the meaning.
-
Nope. GG.
-
1 Rispondistopped reading at "punished." modern gamers are straight up bitches for using that term. it's a L, not a dick. don't take it too hard.
-
It'd be better without supers and heavy ammo like every other PvP mode in the game, but I still have fun with it
-
Also hate that i keep on facing against teams of 4
-
Sleeper really does ruin the mode
-
But have you tried getting good? I don't collect motes, I kill enemy's and let my team bank. I usually invade with a pulse rifle and 3 tap enemies. When Invaders enter, I stop what I'm doing and hunt him down. They spawn on the corners of the map. Same places you would spawn if you were invading. Look there first. I drop them as fast as I can so our prime evil doesn't get health back. I'm ok with the sleeper. It gets me every now and then, but not enough to rage over. And I'm a solo player. You win some you lose some. But I know I can hold my own and support my team. Adaptation is key to success. Think on the fly. Learn from mistakes.
-
1 RispondiA sleeper shot should be a one shot to the body. There is no question about that. Other than that, I like your standpoint.

1 RispondiAgree in a way.
