I'm going out later for dinner and a few beers with my wife. That will cost me more than $80. As much fun as that couple of hours will be, it's value pales in comparison to the value I will get out of Destiny 2 over the next year.

If I buy its because I'm addicted and will continue my Destiny journey. 4 years, probably missed 5 days in that time.

I played about 40 hours of D2 and it cost me £40. So a pound per hour. When you look at it like that, it's not so bad. My mind gripe with D2, is I hardly played (only played Saturday nights), but was still bored after a couple or 3 months. Forsaken looks better, with bungie saying it'll regular content drops, I hope it does. I hope bungie proves the fanbase are not suckers, and also, when I have time to invest in another game, that destiny has not stagnated again. Here's hoping.
