9 months after release, when Forsaken is in presale, Bungie admits to Juggler

For those who haven't read it yet, in an interview with FPS news, Project Lead Scott Taylor admitted to the juggler mechanic in Destiny 2. What is "Juggler": The juggler mechanic basically has the goal, to make you use all of your weapons equally. So when you kill with a kinetic gun, you will most likely drop energy ammo, and vice versa. [url]https://gamerant.com/destiny-2-juggler-forsaken/[/url] Bungie basically had to talk about it now, to dispel the concerns about ammo scarcity with the upcoming weapon slot changes. Of course no details are given, it just wouldn't be Bungie without a scoop of useless secrecy on top - but my concern is not about the mechanic itself anyway. What bothers me, and what also keeps me from spending money on your products again, is your complete lack of transparency and honesty, unless you want to sell us something. What kept you guys from just explaining the mechanic shortly after launch, when players realized it's still a thing in Destiny 2? Not that this is or was the biggest issue with your game, but for 9 months people were discussing this, or even went to the lengths of testing it, writing down their results in spreadsheets. You could have saved those people hours of wasted time, if you were just upfront and honest about your game for once. Yet, you weren't. This detail clearly shows me what is wrong with your company, the complete lack of transparency on your end. Sure, you are disgruntled about your community, because they're so "ungrateful", or they're "jerks", but did you ever wonder why that is? It's YOUR behavior that breeds this kind of community. If you don't respect your customers enough to be honest with them, it should be no surprise that they also won't respect you anymore at some point.

    • I’ll pose a question I asked on Facebook, “can we just get rid of ammo for non-power weapons already?” I don’t really think we need it. I’m not saying getting rid of clips and reloading, just get rid of the ability to run out of ammo.

      • I kinda knew it ,hate it but what can i do. I still enjoy destiny and will get forsaken but bungie knows they have been on thin ice and they seem to be heading in the right direction......hopefully.

      • Exactly! It’s their attitude that is enraging the community. Every time we uncover their bullshit and are proved right it makes it harder for us to trust they will do the right thing. They lose all credibility and we start to believe they aren’t making the right choices because they are hiding them from us. If it was the right thing to do why are you hiding it?

So we would like to introduce you to a super secret mechanic we installed early in the game especially for those few guardians who use up all their kinetic ammo trying to take down hive knights, wizards, and other enemies with elemental shields. We call it the super secret suicide mechanic. Here's how it works.           • I knew this since day 1 i didnt know it was a secret. Its kinda obvious. Thats why everyone always says they run out of primary ammo

              • This post just lost me completely. This is not something they have to talk about, its obvious you have to have this mechanic in the game. And they dont expect that a -blam!- would want to know the details.

                • Do you want them to tell you everything about the game and not use your grey matter to solve things. Oh come on, it's a game mechanic, like any other game has, that you find out during gameplay, usually first 10 minutes if you are competent, and you work around it and use it to your benefit. It is actually beneficial to the players, if your running low on any type of ammo you switch up and bingo ammo for you. I use this all the time by switching between kinetic and energy and never run out of ammo. If you can't get your head around this simple to manipulate mechanic then go play tetris.

                  • Throttling XP gains is one thing, but you can't seriously expect them to explain every game mechanic to us in depth. It isn't like the actual Juggler modifier is always on, either. You can still get Primary ammo from Primary kills, just not as much (which is kind of to be expected, lest you never need to switch weapons.)

                        I personally like the juggler mechanic. I think it’s why Halo was so fun as well. Constantly switching weapons to pop shields then finishing them off with a different weapon. When your using more tools in the sandbox it means more fun...for me anyway. I do agree about the transparency though. If they would’ve been upfront about the mechanic I don’t think people would have made a big deal about it... I think at this point people are just being petty about so much. Like Bungie should be damned for every little thing. If so many of the people that spend all their energy protesting a video game developer spend time actually protesting things that matter in this world it would be a much better place...

                        • Plenty of things they don't tell us, like having 10 recovery on a Titan is not nearly as fast as having 10 recovery on a Lock for example but you figure it out as you go. I don't really have a problem with Juggler being on - even though the irony of running out of ammo in a strike called "the weapons dealer" never ceases to amuse me. My only pet peeve is that the only reason Juggler is a thing in D2 is to make the two primary setup somehow "work". Without juggler the 2 primary weapon setup would be even worse. It's like using an annoying thing to alleviate the impact of another annoying thing. It's a bit daft if you ask me but here we are.

                          • I definitely agree that transparency is an issue, but I don't agree that this is a reflection of that issue. In-game mechanics of this scale aren't things the devs should need to spell out. They aren't dishonest for not mentioning a juggler mechanic. It's the same deal with "FromSoftware" not mentioning the "poise" mechanic changes in Dark Souls 3. People were pissed to be sure, but that's not exactly being dishonest. It's just not explaining every facet of your game.

                            • Almost everyone knew Juggler was active within the first hour of playing the game, just like almost everyone knows the game has mechanics to manipulate certain outcomes in all activities. Bungie don't need to be transparent, because everything they try to hide is always blatantly obvious. Bungie eventually say something to make it out like they are being transparent, but they only ever do it when people figure something out and they need a diversion. Also, you can tell when someone has figured something dodgy out, because one of the community managers mysteriously finds your post extremely quickly and deny what you say. They ignore all the actual and obvious tinfoil hat theories, but always seem to post on something that is blatantly obvious.

                            • its exactly what you said - lack of transparency, communication with the player base how many times do you see developers actually make changes to their games based on player feedback and players are happy and devs are happy because their forums are now not full of salt? now check Bungie forums, especially feedback/rewards/crucible … its absolutely amazing that after SO many years they still pretty much ignore the playerbase/feedback "we've heard you and we listened and here's whats coming your way" since Destiny 1 release … and bring us changes to what NOBODY asked and ignore what has been discussed in LENGTHS

                              • Not being a dick cause I completely agree with the transparency issue but I could tell juggler was active after about 2 hours of game play. Although juggler was the worst modifier, there are more pressing concerns for me like EP. I really wish there could be some sort of match making (only because I don't have a huge amount of time to play and lfg).

                                • They need to be better (we all do.. ) but Bungie are NOT responsible for the toxicity within the community. That's jus ppl.. I have no problems with Juggler. At times I'd like more hvy, but there it is. They have shat the bed on transparency & other things tho. The XP nerf was dreadful & embarrassing. Reusing strike/mission. CoO was really bad. The comics are abysmal. The blackhole that is lore. The same audio for Vex enemy weapons (I'm so sick of that sound after over 3000 combined hours in both games) Thaviks (😉😊😋) Meditation (let me pick the content I want to play FFS) 3oC & Boon glitches. Eververse. Iron Emote. The Dawning. 1 super a week at launch. Etc. Etc. But ppl will still be arrogant, trolling bell ends with or without D2.. that's them internets 😏

                                  • Are you serious people were testing this? It was so obvious from the get go. I don't even think people were really upset about it to warrant a response from Bungie, since obviously there were more pressing issue like the poor story, rewards, player engagement, and a gutted perk system among other things.

                                      D2 Day 1... Me: Shoots my 100th enemy with energy weapon. Enemy drops heavy and/or kinetic ammo for the 100th time. Me: "This must be implemented Juggler" Me: Continues killing enemies with kinetic weapon to refill energy weapons ammo.
