That hurts, that genuinely hurts as a fan who felt the sense of mystery and wonderment in the first game, even as far into the taken king. It's not just this tweet, it's the fact that most of D1's lore and story seems to have been retconned, for no reason more than the new writing team wants to sate their ego and have their shallow image for the game's story fulfilled. The most obvious and recent changes are Vance and Osiris, Vance going from a mysterious disciple figure, who was supposedly a guardian, into this passive aggressive, guardian wannabe fanboy, and with Osiris, and his sheer lack of inclusion into the story, and the DLC of which he's named after! What is the curse of Osiris? Whether it's Saladin just not even mentioning rise of iron, to the state of the world just being the same after the red war, new tower, everything's just hunky dory. What's the point of anything happening if there is no development arc?
Edit 1: Wow, didn't expect to gain this much traction, hopefully the appropriate teams at bungie see this.
Edit 2: I'm adding a link to IRaidWithAussies thread, he poses a perspective that i don't have. https://www.bungie.net/en/Forums/Post/242554517?showBanned=0&path=0

6 RisposteCompletely agree. Did anyone else feel like Vance was a sorta inside joke Bungie came up with as a slap in the face to D1 players who were enthralled in the lore of these characters we've yet to meet? Cause Vance almost seems like a direct parody of the 'lore nerds who zealously seek out and cling to any scrap of info about these interesting people they have never even seen'. Singling Vance out to be this mockery of the player base is especially strategic seeming due to Osiris being both one of the most mysterious yet most likely to eventually show up characters from all the lore. The whole Saladin thing and all the Iron Banner gear having no lore tabs also are a painful indicator of Bungie trying to sweep the lore and history of the franchise under the rug.
